Alprazolam & Repeat Prescriptions

I am about to embark on a 5 month trek around europe, partially as a reward but also partially to overcome my fear of open spaces and places I dont feel comfortable in. I've been diagnosed with Panic Disorder and my Psychiatrist has since retired so I went to my regular GP and told her the situation.

The gave me a dose of 50 1mg x Xanax plus two repeats for them.
The problem is I have heard overseas these scripts aren't accepted and I leave very soon (as in next week) and am shit scared I'm going to be stranded in Europe with nothing.

Has anyone been able to, or provide knowledge with how I can ask the pharmacist to fill in the remainder of the prescriptions for the tablets as they should suffice. I have no history of benzodiazepine abuse and I am concerned that is exactly what the pharmacist is thinking I'm trying to do.

So to reiterate, does anyone have any advice or experience of being able to fill multiple repeats at once at a pharmacist?
 
I'n not sure if you will have much success with that.... personally i think you'd have a better shot at taking over a written letter and getting them prescribed by a local doctor in europe... maybe talk to your doctor and explain the situation... i'm sure you're not the first thats needed anti anxiety meds to go on holiday with

Did the doctor say they would be valid overseas? You said you talked to your doctor about this, surely it must have come up. If they didnt give you any information on whether they would be accepted or not you you could call the doctor and ask.

If you know this and its just you are doubtful of what the doctor told you, you could call the pharmacist or try looking it up on the net.
 
Go to the pharmacy with your itinerary or plane tickets - show them the scenario. If they peg you as someone desperate enough to buy a ticket to europe to get 150mg of alpraz, you're pretty low by my standards.

Australian perscriptions are not valid in any other country, save for likely NZ,UK,USA.

You should be right with what i just suggested. Ask about options before saying "Can ya just fill this script mate"
 
You should go back to the GP that supplied you with the prescription and have a chat about your plans.

In order to enter the UK with a controlled drug, you will need to declare that you are carrying such a drug, you must have a letter from the medical officer overseeing your treatment stating your personal details (name age address) the particulars of your travel, a brief description of your treatment listing the medication(s) you are carrying along with the medical officers details, including thier name, qualification, prescriber number and contact details.

You will almost certianly be denied a prescription for your medication if you arrive at a NHS provider saying that you are on holidays and have run out of your medication and need replacements. This will almost certianly see you put in the 'drug seeker' bin and leave you wihtout your medication, and likley if you have panic disorder, in a forigen country far from home, in quite a state.

Make sure you have all the meds you need, and ideally a buffer amount incase you find yourself needing more, cover your ass with all the relevant paperwork as you don't want your medication seized by either our customs, or when entering your destination country.

So long as you are genuine, your gp will likely be very accommodating of your request for the balance of your script to be dispensed prior to your departure.

just FYI, your Australian medicare scripts are not valid anywhere except here.

Your GP needs to write away to Medicare and ask for and authority script for 6 months of Xanax 1mg to be dispensed all at once for going overseas.

Once your GP has the necessary rights from medicare, your pharmacy can dispense all your scripts in one go.

I am not sure how you are going to go, but I was only able to get 3 months of my pain medication to take overseas, even though I was going for 6 months. I was told that I would have to find another doctor overseas and pay for it myself.

Try and get by on the 50 1mg for as long as possible. Split doeses etc. Your best bet though is getting all the repeats made up now before you go, or alternatively go to a country in Europe where they have less stringent laws on pharmaceuticals, eg Spain, Romania, some other eastern block countries. You should be fine though mate. If worse comes to worse go see at Doc over there and explain your situation. I doub't they'd be so cruel as to not give you another reapeat. I've had luck doing the same oversea's for valium in the UK.
 
Well, if you're doing this to beat you're phobias, it's probably a good thing if you don't go with enough.

But if you want to. I'm fairly sure you could just go to different pharmacies for each box. Maybe not though. It might be all monitored by computers now.
 
im prety sure they just write (reg 54) or sum shit on the orig script and u can get em all at once, this was 2mg xanax with 3 repeats

was told this 2 nights ago by a mate whos doc just got fired and sued for malpractice for obvious reasons

Ya see? As soon as someone goes through withdrawla from benzos they immediately blame their doctor. Now to become a doctor, one has to go though 12 years of training! 12 years of training and some junkie comes in asking for Xanax with 3 repeats....that shit boils my blood!
 
a freand has been getting xanax scripts for years, the 2mg bars.
he has had a script with 3 repeats and gone into different chemists and got them all out at once. if they asked i said i lost the previous bottle.
then last time my friend tried this no chemist would give the second bottle so early, some even contacted my gp and said they suspected i was abusing them.
if i was you i would go back to the doctor and ask for a script for 150 or 200 pills which will be 3 or 4 bottles.. my mate used to get 100 at a time without travel as an excuse.

You are talking about a stamp that Medicare put on the script.

I guess you could try and forge it, but as soon as your local pharmacist puts it into his system he is going to get a big red fuck off sign...
