In this day and age, with more and more adulterants on the rise, I, and many others are finally making that step and ordering reagent test kits. Alot of us know very little about them and could use alot of help, learning how to use them the correct ways and get the right results.

If any experienced testers out there can help with any tips, or pointers towards it, it would be much appreciated by all. Also, what are the best way to store the regeants? In a fridge, a dark place at room temp, on a shelf? Iv'e heard regeants last longer and less liklely to lose effectiveness if stored properly.

I placed my order through paradox today, they sold the same kit as eztest.com but this site converted the currency so I knew what I was being charged. $74 for the full kit with shipping and handling included. Ive been given a tracking number to check on it until it hits the US. And then I have to contact the USPS to track it in the states. It should arrive within 2-3 weeks.

Things always take longer when they have to cross the border through customs.
 
This one is probably just me being paranoid but if you buy a testing kit can law enforcement track that back to you and use that as probable cause to search you or your property?

Eztest.com also has charts of all the color changes. I found that recognizing what colors turn to what is all dependent on experience. It took me a loooong time to be able to read my test results, and after about 15 tests of everything from meth bombs, pipes, pure molly and MDMA high pills, I'm still a little iffy on some test results. My best advice is to test everything, even pills you know to be good, so you know what a good reaction looks like. And follow the pamphlet. Here's what I've noticed from the reagents I've worked with (but always read the instructions, there's many different reactions that I haven't encountered):

Marquis : Tests for MDxx and adulterants like meth, amp, 2c-b and DXM. The pure MDxx reaction you're looking for should be the color changing quickly to a deep, dark, purple-y black. Common reactions are it flashing orange first and turning brown, which means it's a MDxx/Speed combo pill. A fizzing could either mean DXM, strong MDMA or Pipe... confusing eh.

Simons : Tests for MDMA, MDEA or Meth. Usually, if the Simons turns a deep cobalt blue you know you have MDMA. If there's no color change but the Marquis went black, test with the Robadope to see if you've got MDA.

Robadope: This will test for MDA, Amp and all sorts of stuff. Use this in conjunction with the Simons. If the Simons turned blue and the Robadope turns a orangish/pinkish/salmon color then you probably have an MDMA/Amp combo pill. If the Simons had no reaction, but the Marquis went black and the Robadope went salmon, you've likely got some MDA.

But, like I said, read the pamphlet. I haven't had the opportunity to work with Mandelin or Mecke yet, but it seems with both of those, blue-blacks are a welcome reaction for MDMA lovers.

Also note that NONE of the current reagent tests will test for Pipes, so none with give you a clear reaction that will immediately notify you of a pipe. But a weak, watery looking Marquis is a pretty good indication that your pill doesn't contain anything good. A good MDMA pill should always have a strong reaction to the reagents and turn the entire test puddle a deep, dark color. At least from what I've seen.

I kept my kit on a dark shelf at room temperature and it's just now starting to go bad after 6 months.

@llyando - I remember hearing that a test kit CAN be seen as drug paraphernalia but laws regarding that are different from state to state. Don't quote me on it, but I believe I heard that it wasn't illegal to own or buy a test kit, but if a police officer wants to be a dick about it they can charge you with paraphernalia or something like that. As for finding it in the mail though, I don't know for sure.

here the kits are stocked by most drug and alternative shops, (places you'd buy a bong etc), paid $30 for an E2 mandelin regent and you just scrape off a small amount of powder from the pill and drop a single drop of the mandelin onto it and watch the colour change. pretty simple really, it has a chart inside the case with the colour changes and meanings. you just have to keep them in a cool dry place, i keep mine up on a shelf behind some things.
 
I've been using testing kits for 5 years, best advice i can give is to follow the directions exactly, use a clean knife to take scrapings about eh size of a match head or slightly smaller, do not get any debris or contaminants in your sample, if the bit you scrape off is a solid piece mash it to get a better reaction, use a white dish or bottom of a coffee mug in a well lit and ventilated area as the regents give off fumes you don't wanna breath, best to store the bottles in an airtight container upright where it is cool and dark, replace your kit once a year, the chemical reagents are unstable and do not last very long.

I have a list of known color reactions, Some were discovered by me, some were found by friends, some were found through research; most have been verified(others please add your findings as well):

Marquis
2-AminoIndan ----- Orange to Red (slightly rusty)
2C-C ---- Starting brown going to Dark Lime Green (similar to 2C-B)
2C-D ---- Very light pink
2C-E ---- No reaction (!?)
2C-I ---- Dark Green to Black
2C-T-2 ---- Orange to Red (usually a sort of salmon color)
2C-T-4 ---- Orange to Red (usually a sort of salmon color)
2C-T-7 ---- Orange to Red (salmon, again; also, there is less tendency towards orange than 2C-T-2 shows)
3C-P ----- Orange
4-Acetoxy-DiPT ---- Dirty (blackish) olive
4-Methyl-Aminorex (u4euh)----no color change
4-MTA ---- no color change
5-MeO-DiPT ----- Fizzes then turns yellow quickly changing to a slightly rusty orange
Alpha-Methyl-DiPT ----- Fizzes then turns brown
AMT ----- Dark brownish-yellow
BDB ---- Dark brown, nearly black
Benzylpiperazine---- No color change, but it causes the reagent to fizz. Looks like when you pour hydrogen peroxide on a cut.
DiPT ----- Fizzes strongly then turns a neon yellow
DPT ----- Dirty olive
Harmine ----- Fizzes slightly, much less so than BZP, and turns a brown-orange rust color.
IAP ----- Immediate reaction to salmon/red, slowly intensifies to a darker red over 1min.
MBDB ----- Dark Brown to Black
Methylone ------ Yellow
Opiates ----- Pink to Purple
Phenolphthalein----- Crimson
PMA ---- No color change
TMA-2 ----- Lime Green (similar to 2C-B)
TMA-6 ---- Yellow to Orange
Yohimbine ----- Fizzes slightly, much less so than BZP. Slowly (up to a minute), it will turn an olive green color.

Mecke
2C-E ----- light yellow/green within 10 seconds
2C-I ----- Immediate reaction to a reddish brown similar to drying blood
2C-T-21 ----- Dark blood red which turns to an imperial purple over 30 seconds
4-Methyl-Aminorex (u4euh)----no color change
IAP ----- No Reaction
MBDB ----- Yellow
TMA-6 ----- Dirty olive, gradually develops orange on the edges of the liquid puddle after about a minute

Simons
2C-E ----- No reaction
2C-I ----- No reaction
2C-T-21 ----- Greenish blue
IAP ----- No Reaction
TMA-6 ----- Purple

Thanks Moral Decay. Thats probably the most detailed explanation Iv'e seen of the reactions. As far as other questions, the only other one I can think of is do you use 1 or 2 drops when you test? Thanks everyone for the helpful info. When it comes to testing theres alot of factors. Good to know as much as you can

No. There's nothing illegal about chemical reagents like these test kits contain.

The pamphlet that comes with it will tell you how many drops to use. It's annoying though, because the container the reagents are in aren't very accurate as far as drops go. I'll sit there and tap it and shake it and nothing will come out, then suddenly it pours out 3 drops.

Has anyone used an eye dropper or something in between the reagent bottle and the test to get a more accurate drop count?

Yeah it doesn't really matter how many drops you use, but its best to only try to get one so you don't waste your reagents.

Word of advice though - DONT use eztest, they are not sending out the kits and were hearing major problems. For the US I would use Dancesafe - if you want the name of another supplier please PM me, they sell the same kits as EZTEST and ship worldwide.

A great file to have can be downloaded from here :) - it tells you the reactions to hundreds of chemicals!

One good tip when you buy a new kit do a test on something day to day like an asprin or sugar. Write down the changes you see, times and the final colour it turns to - that way in 12 months+ you have a way of testing your test kit.

Good idea, i would have never thought of the aspirin test thing myself. Good call.
