Synthetics dont belong here

Cannabis is cannabis, and this is the cannabis thread. Not putting down synthetics but i think theyd have a better place in PD, it makes sense talking about them here i suppose but i just want an opinion on if others would say synthetics are closer to psyches or the real deal.
 
well, seeing they are synthetic cannabinoids, and they are generally smoked, and they are often sold as marijuana substitutes and the effects are purportedly similar to cannabis I think it quite logical for them to be discussed here. To do otherwise, as once was the agenda, seems like pot snobbery to me.
 
I don't really find the questions annoying, but they do tend to clutter up the forum as people fail to see the Megathread. I think they have some relevance here, but at the same time they are markedly different from cannabis and not exactly what I expect to see in "Cannabis Forum".

Since I do think many people feel that these questions should be separate, I like the Megathread. An improvement / alternative could be a sub-forum inside CD called Synthetic Discussion or something. More people would be likely to see this, and it would allow more specialized discussion.
 
Cannabis has thousands of years of usage and is very safe with minimal side effects. It has been heavily researched and used in the medical field since the beginning of history. Synthetics were invented in the past few years and don't have near the same track record. Ecstasy Discussion doesn't talk about all the synthetic ecstasy and herbal ecstasy so why should we talk about fake pot?
 
I too do not understand why synthetics are here but it does give us a bit more substance in CD, so I don't really mind it.

That said, isn't it OD material? Either way, as long as the mods keep the clutter down, I don't much care.
 
Heh, we are having this very same discussion in the staff forums. I think for now we are just going to let the chips fall where they lay.

OD and BDD don't particularly like taking on synthetic threads and actual discussion about the chemicals does not happen very often in PD. If your looking for information on cannabis synthetics then it would seem logical to go to the cannabis discussion.
 
Well if I had to be really honest, ADD has the best material about synthetics bar none... But I think that that material may be above a lot of us here in CD :P
 
Well, I came here looking for info on synthetics basically because I was sent here from the psychedelics board. I don't think synthetics belong here, though. I tried Space this weekend, and I don't think it's very much like bud. It was enjoyable, that's for sure. But very different from weed, I think. I'd say it's closer to ecstasy. But it really isn't like ecstasy either. Anyway, I'd say it either deserves its own board or to be in the psychedelics board, because it's way more trippy than weed.
 
Mods have talked about making a separate board for research chemicals but I don't think upper staff will approve :\
 
if you were a newbie, and after harm minimisation strategies or information on fake cannabis it would seem logical to look in the cannabis forum. i'm quite sure most newbies would not even know what an RC was.

Perhaps a sub-forum and/or a sticky link...

Those both seem like shitty ideas to me, Sorry.

Making a forum for RC's would detract from PD. If you feel like discussing RC;s there is lots of talk about them in PD.
A forum for opioids wouldnt make sense either. They are discussed plenty in OD and all questions regarding them can be posted there.

As for the synthetics belonging here or not. If a user finds the synthetics thru smoking blends and doesnt know about RC's then this would seem like the most logical place to put them. And thats fine.

most users who encounter the pure form of the synthetic, usually thru RC suppliers, is most likely to0 post his questions in PD.

i see nothing wrong with how things are working now.
 
^ A forum for RC's would be brilliant, maybe I could actually ask questions about the 2c-x family without 30 replies about spirituality and integrating trips and loads of other stuff only hardcore hippies cae about.

they arent cannabis, they are synthetic cannabinoids

but i lost an argument yesterday about a thread on wild dagga in CD so if they are gonna lump wild dagga in with Cannabis then i guess synthetics are closer then dagga

but yea i agree with you, wild dagga ==>OD or BDD and synthetic cannabinoids ==>PD

but thats just me

Mephedrone, methylone and bzp all appear there quite alot? Herbal ecstasy is inactive and bs.. so why would it be discussed?

People that are into cannabis, such as ones that visit this forum, are probably alot more likely to be into the synthetic cannabinoids.. that and the fact that the effects of the synths will more closely resemble cannabis than any other drug means it makes perfect sense that discussion about them should appear in here.
