Why do people use dangerous/harmful drugs?

Why do people speed when driving their car even though it is dangerous and illegal?

People like to get a buzz. Fire a neuron, whatever you want to call it. Some people are addicted, some struggle to feel excitement, pleasure, exhilaration on the same level from non drug sources. Some people just straight up do not care what harm their drug of choice does to them. Some people may even beleive any inherent harm caused to their body is worth the high/time they have on said drugs.

Mostly people do these drugs because they're alot of fun. It is not a hard thing to work out. Why do people have sex, because it feels good... Use your brain man. It's pretty bloody obvious why people use dangerous drugs.

And dangerous is pretty subjective. Some people consider going out late at night to be dangerous, others consider jumping out of a plane to be pretty safe.

You really have to put it all into perspective.

Why do some people lead totally inactive lives and let their bodies gain kilogram after kilogram of fat and let their muscle waste away? Why do they let their whole body waste away? Their heart and lungs decreasing in peak function..

Seriously though, do you see a difference between intentionally poisoning yourself with a drug that a professional organization like the FDA has scientifically determined to be harmful and just going a little fast on the freeway? Most of the people who cause car accidents are probably on drugs. Sober people can usually manage to drive a few miles over the speed limit and not drive into another car. When people intoxicate themselves with dangerous drugs they become a liability on the road even to those of us who stay sober. Even driving normal speeds on the freeway is dangerous when drug addicts are driving.

Even when they are no longer "high", you still have long term brain damage even from marijuana. This can impair your ability to think and be safe on the road.
 
Even the most shitty reckless dangerous drug combos Ive done are not much less safe than crossing a busy road at rush hour, yet people do that all the time.

The illegality issue is moot, they are illegal cuz some clueless cunt says so, ~I take them regardless because I don't bow down to bullying.

Its only perceived as dangerous from the outside looking in, well some ARE dangerous but, with a little knowledge and know-how the danger goes down

Alright some of these dangerous drugs you're talking about are also used medically.

Methamphetamine (ice/crank/crystal) is used medically. Fancy that! They prescribe completely pure crank to children!

Heroin is also used medically, as is a bunch of other far stronger opiod analgesic drugs.

There is a plethora of drugs of abuse which are also used medically. So the whole "dangerous drugs" thing is completely blown out of proportion.

You seem to be the type of upper class yuppie who has no actual real world experience. Do you really beleive all people who use "dangerous drugs" are dirt poor peices of shit who arent as good as you?(what ever the fuck that means).

Obviously drugs used under medical supervision is different than recreational drug use, but use the above to illustrate that these dangerous street drugs are no more dangerous than the plethora of fda approved drugs which are in use today.

And in saying that, you clearly show yourself as a person with no real world experience what so ever. Do you know how many sports people and what have you use dangerous recreational drugs and still perform at a top level? Well beleive it or not, you can actually use drugs without completely fucking up your body.

Put it into perspective.

Your little statement about marijuana is bullshit. So you beleive fda approved alcohol and tobacco is far less dangerous than marijuana?

Do you realise the situation that arrises when prohibition is in place? I'm not going to go on and on about it because its pretty obvious, think prohibition in america, criminals making big bucks(money that would have others been pumped back into the community) while the quality and safety of said prohibited drug declines.

Also if you're going to come onto a drug forum just to argue why drugs are bad you're an idiot and have too much time on your hands.

You basically got this idea that dangerous drugs that arent approved by the fda equate to horrible bodily harm. And you sit there speeding around in your car sipping your bourbon looking into this alien world of dangerous drug abuse from the outside and think oh my god! How could someone knowingly do this to themselves!!

Pull your head out of your ass, learn to think for yourself a bit and find some perspective in life.

Last time I checked Heroin is still schedule1 so no medical value. Thats off the top of my head I could be wrong

I dont know if you live in America or a different country so maybe in your country this stuff is different
 
Diamorphine is used medically here. Schedule 1 in the states, sucks to be you should you need some ass kicking analgesia....sucks double that you'll be paying for it too. But let's not go there.
 
Nobody prescribes heroin for pain or crystal meth to students who cant concentrate. The chemicals that are used in legitimate medicine might be chemically related but they are prescribed under a doctors supervision. Even the drugs that have legitimate medical use are dangerous if they are not used under a doctors supervision. That is why it is illegal to sell your medications to people who they were not prescribed to....because its dangerous to take drugs without a doctors supervision.

Anyway, I didnt realize that this was a "drug forum". I thought it was a harm reduction forum. I am 100% in favor of reducing the harm that is caused by dangerous drugs, but I believe that the best way to reduce the harm caused by drugs is to enforce the laws that already exist which prevent people from buying and using them.

You might think that cops are the bad guy for arresting you, but maybe being put in prison is actually saving your life. Having some time to get sober and reflect on your crimes might be exactly what you need to get your life together. They feed you and cloth you. You can even go to college while in prison. Getting arrested could be the best thing that ever happened to you if you are a poor drug addict.

The penalties for hard drugs are unfortunately lax. People continue to use hard drugs because the punishments are not harsh enough. If we really made an example out of the people who get caught maybe more young children s lives could be saved when they decide that using these dangerous drugs just isnt worth it.

Dude learn about what you're talking about. Heroin and Methylamphetamine ARE used medically! Don't come here and claim that they arent. The EXACT same drugs are used. A simple google search will prove this to you. Although heroin is only used medically in the UK, morphine is used globally, and the drugs are exactly same albeit one is about 3x stronger mg to mg than the other and crosses the bloodbrain barrier faster.

I dont think cops are the bad guy. They're just doing a job, they have to feed their family too.

If you truely beleive what you claim in the above quote then you should also beleive tobacco and alcohol should have severe punishments for their use.%) If you have a look(or use some bloody common sense) at the properties of a drug that constitute it being a "hard-drug". You would find alcohol is a hard drug. But alcohol is alright because it is legal right?

Or do you beleive no one should be allowed to use drugs for recreation? And that all drugs are inherently deadly and should be avoided. You cant go around claiming all that you have about drugs and their users and then turn around and say but alcohol is exempt.

Don't think of this as a personal debate or anything, but just think about it for one second.

You might laugh but I know a lot of people who did drugs in college and ended up suffering from anxiety or depression because of it. I don't know about you, but I don't want the person in the car next to be to be suicidal or too nervous to pay attention to the road.

I am not a doctor but I do know that the FDA decides which drugs are too dangerous for people to use. They have been put in charge of the publics well being by our elected representatives. The FDA is an unbiased organization that bases its opinions on real science.

The FDA has passed laws that prevent children from drinking alcohol or smoking tobacco. They have also determined that responsible adults can use these drugs in moderation safely. As an unbiased organization I trust what they have to say.
 
I dont think that harsher punishments for drug use is the answer. I think the harm from long prison sentences is arguably worse than the harm from the drugs themselves. More peoples lives have been ruined by the drug war than have been ruined directly by drugs.....When non-violent recreational drug users are torn apart from their families for years or decades when they were not a danger to themselves or others, putting them in prison is cruel and excessive.

What I do support is making rehab available for everyone for free. I dont think that all drugs should be available at your local drug store, but I also dont think that casual users should be in danger of having their lives ruined by the state just because they choose to alter their consciousness. Who is the victim exactly? Why is society hurt when somebody gets stoned? While driving or operating heavy machinery is one thing, as is using on the job, but on your own time at home it s none of anyone's business.

We can reduce the harm of drug use with education and rehab and saner drug policies.


I dont want want crack cocaine sold on the shelves next to the bubble gum...Some drugs should be kept relatively back ally and away from the mainstream...but the punishments dont need to be so harsh that you are basically robbing somebody of their entire life's freedom just for having some pot plants or even a bag of pills/powder. It just isnt right. I dont see the justice in it regardless of how bad they are supposed to be.

Education and rehab and treatment....and offering help without having to be afraid of punishment...that is what will reduce harm from dangerous drugs.

Believe me or claim i'm an idiot, the FDA have approved many a dangerous chemical.

Alcohol is alot more dangerous than marijuana. It's on the same level as heroin. And even heroin is less toxic to the body than alcohol.

OOOOOOOOOOOk first off I never said they didnt use methamphetamine medically, its called Desoxyn, and second Im very well aware of the use of opiates for medical reasons, diamorph is not used medically here. Desoxyn is a joke, like I said try it you dont get high.

And whats the difference between dosing some shard orally and taking the same amount of desoxyn orally? Of course you would still get high. Bloody idiot.
