It is claimed that the author is "addicted" to LSD.

This is so full of shit. There are many other inconsistencies, read the wikipedia article under authorship and the snopes article. The whole thing is a pack of lies.

Yea I read that book in high school and it was quite entertaining, as Shambles mentioned.

My mum got a copy from the library when she learned I was doing meth. Even she thought the book was stupid, and that's saying something.

lol @ theotherwoman

I read it when I was 14 and thought it was interesting. I read it again a few years ago and could barely finish it cause I found it so annoying.

the same author wrote a book called jay's journal, which is just as much bullshit, about a satanist kid. it's even more hilarious.

Isn't this book "Anonymous"?

I read this when I was really young and found it really intriguing seeing as I knew nothing about drugs at the time.

I remember the part where her and her friend are in the apartment with that rich woman, and they get all fucked up on H and end up getting raped.

It's clearly a work of fiction, but there are definitely parts that could have really happened. Maybe I'll go dig up my copy and read it again, just for shits and giggles.

It was later established who the real author was, and she wrote more stuff. Look it up ;)

I actually never read the thing, only a summary which made me want to NOT read it. Reefer Madness and heroin-scare films of the fifties are entertaining enough in my opinion, mostly because they're on Youtube/Google/you-name-it for free and I'm broke, so I'm not gonna spend money on that kind of nonsense although I admit it must be quite entertaining.

I didn't know Go Ask Alice dealt with heroin. Aren't you talking about "Junk"? (haven't read that one either actually...)

Well I understand it could be humorous for the enlightened about drugs, however some people actually believe this shit, a lot of people I know will try crack but they are scared shitless about acid and shrooms. This just contributes to the hysteria, and people believe it to, I was trying to explain to them that LSD is not addictive as it is a 5-HT2A seratonin agonist and therefore doesn't even touch the reward pathways of the brain. They all gave me strange looks.

People I know are so scared of the harmless psychedelics but are blissfully unaware of the dangers that the shitloads of amphetamine they are pouring into their system when they down 100 mg of adderall in one sitting. Yes, because shrooms are more terrifying than the prospect of blowing out the pleasure centers of your brain, oh and acid TOTALLY makes you bleed from your brain stem.8)

It's been quite some time since I read the book but there is a part when the two girls move to California and are working in the clothing boutique and meet a wealthy/glamorous woman. They go to a party at her house and end up trying heroin, the character hates it though and it doesn't really have any part in the book except that one mention.

Go Ask Alice is garbage. Totally not worth reading unless you're interested in knowing what a retard thinks will happen when you do drugs.

i read a little of that book while at the library a few times but never took it out because i knew damn well i wouldn't read the whole thing.
it's an alright book, but the author has a "mary poppins" style of writing.
no one bottoms out that deep that fast.
