This is my first thread, Mods please feel free to merge if this is the wrong place.
Short and sweet- I have Panic Attacks, GAD, and a touch of OCD. Apparently now I have ADHD also. I'm 28 and have always been a drug user/abuser.
My doc believes I've been attempting to self medicate all these years for my ADHD.
She prescribed me Concerta. This aggravates my anxiety to new levels. I have never needed to use so many benzos to stifle the anxiety as I do now. I take one to counteract the other. Really stupid it seems.
I love the stimulating nature of the Concerta, but freaking hate the panic attacks and general anxiety.
Switch to Adderall you say?
I was a Meth addict/cook for almost 4 years. I don't wanna tweak or feel that amphetamine feeling ever again. I've been clean for 3 years.

Can anyone with real experience with ADHD drugs use/abuse lend some advice?

Does Adderall feel enough like Meth to make you feel like you are doing the same drug?

Are any of the other ADHD drugs on the market a happy medium for someone with anxiety and a history of Methamphetamine addiction?

All intelligent input and personal input is greatly appreciated.

Adderall feels quite similar to meth in my opinion, except I prefer adderall. In my experience adderall is much smoother and less horrible feeling then concerta, and it's also fun as hell. That being said, I don't think you should get on it due to your concerns about addiction.

EDIT: Fuck I'm an idiot, not focalin, there is a stimulant out there that is non-addictive, gets used a lot by professional to improve concentration and shit but I can't remember the name. Maybe it starts with an M? It sounds promising.

EDIT AGAIN: Modafinil, that's it!

besides the meth/amphetamines & what you mentioned having tried, there's modafinil, strattera, & focalin. personally i've found nothing to help my ADD besides adderall & meth.. meth helps the most, (un)fortunately.. everything else gives me a decent amount of anxiety & insomnia

i haven't tried focalin simply because i can't afford it. i've only heard positive things about it tho. you may want to check that one out, if you haven't already

good luck

Focalin is just the more potent form of Ritalin. (Focalin is pure dextro form of methylphenidate, Ritalin is racemic form.)
If you had problems with meth, it would be in your best interest to stay away from it and all stims with addictive natures.

The dishing out of ADHD meds in the Us is amazing... nearly everyone seems to have ADHD.... do YOU feel you really need it? because thats a pretty heavy regiment of drugs you're on.

it isn't really that easy to get scripted amps tho.. especially if you're an adult with drug abuse history - which, incidentally, is common with AD(H)D types :\

over here theres only ritalin, and its really difficult to get....
by "over here" you mean france, or europe in general?

The most common 'ADD-med' in europe is certainly methyphendate but you can also get dexamphetamine in some european countries.

In germany there is: methylphenidat, racemic amphetamine, dexamphetamine.

ritalin, that's what I am taking and I heard it was much , much milder than concerta. It gives you the pic me up but no hard hard meth , coke, feeling. It works for me . I don't know I guess alot of people abuse ritalin as well.

Thanks to All of You!!!:D

Wow. I thank all of you for your responses. This kinda support and advice is exactly what I had hoped for from all of you BL'ers.
I will research the Modafinil first. That's the only one i haven't studied to some extent.
As to whether or not i have ADHD-I'm not certain. I'm not convinced the condition exists. I am certain that in order to meet the demands of the responsibilities of my day to day life, I am in need of some sort of "boost" mentally and physically.
Concerta has put a spring back in my step and has prevented me from losing my very demanding, yet rewarding job.
It helps and that's what matters to me. Thanks again for all of your help everyone. I will see where your advice takes me.
I will hold off on the amphetamines for now until the non-stimulant drugs have been tried first.
My Doc is easy to write a script with "gentle persuasion".
To be continued....<3

^ Yeah check out the modafinil, it sounds very promising. And let us know how it goes! :D

God damn it not again, I think Bluelight needs to put gender identifiers under usernames or something so I don't embarrass myself like this. :o

Are you sure you don't even wanna try Adderall? The reason its prescribed the most is because it works, and works the best.

Piracatam may be helpful (you can order it online). I heard it works for other people, but I don't think it has really had any effect on me before.

Do you have coffee? Thats helpful if you don't mind slight jitters.

Or... have a low dose of Concerta? 10mg I hear works for some people. Might wanna ask for something like that.
