is there cause for alarm if i get migraines while on d-amp?

i have a killer migraine right now.. & it feels like there's pressure behind my eyes i get it after i've taken adderall or vyvanse (script).. mainly vyvanse.. maybe slightly less than 50% of the time, but i don't take it daily anymore either. i've never gotten one after doing meth tho, which i thought is odd

i'm asking because i know migraines are a sign of hypertension, and vyvanse especially gives me a fair amount of that already.. but is a migraine always due to hypertension? i don't know why i can do meth & never get one, for example.. and adderall rarely gives me migraines, compared to vyvanse

i'm trying to rule things out. i know i should see my psych & get off it- switch to adderall or dex. i'll do that asap once i have the money

Umm...d-amp is the same thing as "dex" (dextroamphetamine). Sometimes I get massive headaches from speed but it's usually because I am dehydrated or because I have strained my eyes being up all night doing homework.
I don't know what advice to give you; I think it's all in your imagination because if d-amp really was the culprit, you would experience headaches on Adderall too (Adderall is mostly d-amphetamine but with maybe 20-30% l-amphetamine).

you'r probably dehydrated

drink some water, have a berocca or something. Its immportant no1 rule that when u r a tweaking keep some re-hydrating fluids such as water or powerade with you.

when u tweak, if u pee or swet alot your body looses its essential salts and fluids, therefore you'll get more aches and pains.

its important to stay hydrated.

i usually keep powerade handy for when i get dehydrated cos it has the hydrrating salts and shit in it.

recommend drinking more water just to start things off.. a lot of headaches seem to just be dehydration but i guess if these are proper migraines thats different but still no harm in some h2o speically if you take stims

i meant dex as in dexedrine. i take vyvanse, which is a prodrug of dextroamphetamine.. i've been on these for over a year, so i know what they are

i also drink smart water & vitamin water throughout the day, so i know it isn't dehydration

the only thing that makes me tweak is high doses of meth, which i don't get migraines or headaches from at all (even oral or smoked)- if anything, it gets rid of all my aches & pains

EDIT: i think it has something to do with how i metabolize certain stims, cause whenever i consume caffeine or pseudo, for example, i get a headache or migraine (coffee would give me a migraine).. then d-amp does this sometimes, but less often.. i guess that makes sense, since meth has the highest BA of all, so i don't have as many adverse effects from it

in any case, i guess it boils down to hypertension, which isn't good =(

At any rate, stimulants in general can have nasty side effects. I do know what a stimulant headache feels like, so I know what you are going through. It sucks.
I guess the bottom line is stay hydrated, try to eat nourishing foods, check your blood pressure (hypertension could be the main culprit), and try different drugs or combinations to explore their side effect profiles. Here's a quick breakdown of my experiences:
Vyvanse: Smooth ride, minimal side effects.
Dexedrine instant release tablets: same as above, with a little more intensity.
Adderall: jittery, heart-pounding ride with headaches a common side effect.
Methamphetamine: depending on quality, smooth ride with minimal side effects.

However, on the few occassions that I have abused it in the past I too have had absolutely HORRIBLE migraines, always behind my left eye, and nothing short of a shit-load of benzos would help me.

no probs dude. i didn't explain myself well earlier

strange that so many people have side-effects from adderall but not vyvanse. do you take adderall IR or XR, or both?

i've only had adderall IR 30s, which don't cause me many problems.. they feel smoother than vyvanse does to me

maybe i'm allergic to something in vyvanse - or due to the fact that the XR action of vyvanse is messing with my insides too much & i get some peripheral side-effects - migraine, tension, etc

if you've been on other amp scripts, how would you compare them to dexedrine?

i have to change my script next doc visit, so i'm trying to weigh my options

Well, I have been prescribed both dexedrine and adderall. I personally prefer dexedrine, although it does seem to me that it wears off a bit quicker. It feels a bit cleaner to me.
However, I have a good friend that swears by his Adderall, and that Dex isn't as effective for him.

So, I guess that probably isn't too much help, but thats my opinion. If you don't already know, they are really almost identical, but Dexedrine is comprised of only d-amphetamine, whereas Adderall is a mixture of about 3 to 1 d amphetamine to the less active l-amphetamine. The added l-amphetamine is supposed to smooth out the medication and increase duration.
