New Radiohead album?

I respect everything Radiohead has done and will do in the future. Sure, some it can be strange but they are ARTISTS. Most bands sell out and go radio-friendly. Radiohead went the complete other direction, and for that they have my utmost respect.

I heard the album will be called the Bends 2 and contain appropriate content.

This is an attempt by the band to appease their fans for a decade or so of piano tracks with whiney vocals and nonesense elctronica songs.

I hope they do more stuff like the Kid A album which is my fav album. In rainbows was also an amazing album but i luv there elctronic weird stuff

I remembered hearing that Radiohead said sometime last year that they would never release another full album. Here is the link, Wall Street Journal, pretty credible(at least on anything not related to banking regulation)...

But there is some information elsewhere saying that they are busy recording a new record.

Anyway, i really hope that the latter is accurate. I remember being really saddened by the idea that they would never release another album and even worse that other bands might follow their direction. I know that lots of people only buy singles these days, but there are still those people out there who would be devastated if bands stopped making full length albums. An album is a world to itself, an entity, a universe, a place, a memory. A world without albums would be a colder one indeed.

For the sake of record, my favorite Radiohead album is 'In Rainbows' followed closely by 'Amnesiac'. Pyramid Song is magic, when the drums first kick in, magic...

Oh, now they're making another album? The jawing about their next record or the fact they are "done" with making records is supremely irritating. Either make one, or not, but please do everyone a favor and shut the fuck up.

While I am a fan of a fair amount of their music, I think Thom York and Johnny Greenwood may be the biggest, most pretentious douchebags in the music industry. Between Greenwood's "I'm not really a guitar player" pretentiousness, Thom's flip flopping about making albums (or not) to the whole "we're only going to play festivals to decrease our carbon footprint" thing, it is amazing how these guys can churn out some--overall--great music and then sound like total assholes every time they open their mouths.

I agree. What happened to the days when being a rock star just meant throwing the hotel TV out the window...

(not sarcastic btw)

I am ALL for bringing back smashed TVs, motorcycles in hotel hallways and shark dildos.

I think that hail to the thief and Amnesiac are incredibly underrated, but for me Kid A will always stand out. But damn I am hoping for a new album, they always say they are taking breaks and then make new albums.

I love Radiohead! I've sort of lost touch with them as well, but I hope by their 8th album, I'll be able to start loving them again.
I saw Thom with Atoms for Peace at the Roseland, first night of their US tour! It was great, and I will always love Thom. I just wish I knew The Eraser a bit better.

I remember reading that they'd been listening to a bit of Kraftwerk and wanted to incorporate that into their sound. Personally I hope they do less of an experimental / electronic thing though.

oh god i love elctronic music, but kraftwerk i could never get into, please say this is just a rumor, although electronic radiohead has never failed me, kid a/amnesiac being right up there in greatness as those that inspired it, so maybe theyll spin it to be something much better than kraftwerk

I don't think I can take these Radiohead threads; there's too much stupid shit to think about when talking about Radiohead.

What I love about Radiohead is their music, what I hate about them is the fact that they know we are all waiting for their shit but they still have to be all mysterious about it. The same thing happened with In Rainbows so expect the same for the presumed new album. I remember when I was wondering if in rainbows was coming out, I didn't know the name of the album yet but I heard some of the songs from it on youtube because they performed some of it live at bonnaroo and such.

Oh how joyous the day that album came out was for me.

It would be nice if Radiohead came out to say hi every now and then.
