best way to store herb: fridge/freezer, humidor, or mason jar?

What's the best way to store herb for long term storage?

In the fridge, in the freezer, in a humidor, or in a sealed Mason jar?
 
Sealed Mason Jar six feet under the earth behind your house (near the biggest tree).
 
Large amounts for long periods would be the freezer. Of course this is only if you're saving it for an extended period of time. You don't want to be defrosting to smoke everyday. Carefully package the mj to avoid freezer burn.

I'd say for most people having a half pound or less the fridge or a jar is fine. I'm not sure about a hummidor as that's designed for tobacco leaf not bud and the tobacco is a lot drier to begin with.

The only time ill freeze something is when there's a rare strain around. That way I can keep it for months at a time and bust it out when there's nothing good around. I don't really think its worth it if like most you smoke it all in weeks time.
 
Get those vaccum sealed bags, then put them in a air tight time capsule. Then bury it deep underground,then pour concrete over the dirt. That should presevre it for awhile.

Make sure to inject the bud with formaldehyde and a few other preservatives first, just to be sure.

I use a bag because I rarely have very large amounts, the freezer is probably pretty ideal. You shouldn't have to defrost bud before smoking it by the way.
 
I used a humidor for a while but it kept the herb way too crispy. I adjusted the moisture content but could never get it right. Mason jar inside a safe works for my mates.
 
Pickle the MJ and store it in an airtight jar. Take out for special occasions, such as weddings, anniversaries, exorcisms etc.
 
I just use a mason jar. Works perfectly for me. I've kept herb in a jar for like, six or seven months, and it was still good. Just make it's air tight.
 
We have this lil mini humidor disk thing. Wet it and stick it in the bag that the weed is in. Not the BEST way to store but if we get some bud that is a little dry it fixes it in no time.
 
Humidor for sure- I have kept buds in there for months and it stays perfectly humidified at 65 percent, smokes way better, tastes amazing, no mold (you won't get mold unless your humidity goes above the low 70's or the temp goes to like 90).

It takes a little effort and money to set up a nice humi but you will never want to smoke un-humidified weed again. People are always terrified of mold but they probably had the humi way too wet - you need VERY little water to keep it at 65 % but get some humidity beads and you can't go wrong.

Cool. Your the only other person I have heard of using a Humidor. I had mine set at 70% and the weed was so crispy and brittle that I stopped using it. I'll have to have another try at it with some silica gel as well.
 
That is strange that your bud was dry in the humidor- maybe the seal was not good? Keeping mine at 65 the buds are never dry or brittle its the opposite- they get way more sticky and moist. I typically throw new bags in there for a day or two as most weed is pretty dry when you buy it especially in winter. Cigar sites have good info on humidors- they do take some work but I consider bud to be a premium kinda luxury item considering an 8th is 60 bucks - so I don't mind the extra work plus I have my stash of good cigars in there too.
 
The seal is fine, I have quite an expensive humidor. Here most weed is misted before sale so it is the opposite to what you get. I don't keep cigars in mine
 
freezing bud makes the trich heads break off easier (method for hash making)

I store in a mason jars in a dark cabinet.

What are the disadvantages of smoking bud that has been stored in the freezer? I have known various people who did this.
 
disadvantages?

the main one i know of is it just freezes the trichomes (i dunno why ppl keep misspelling that word and putting in the extra R)
and they fall off a lot more and a lot easier when its taken out, or handled in the bag.
that and they tend to swell and burst due to freezing.

& OP-
the BEST way is a glass jar.


a wooden box, or "humidor", even with a moisture monitor, will still leech minor amounts of thc from your herbal, just like a baggie does.
permeation i believe is the term. (due to teency weency holes in the material; wood or plastic bag)
glass doesnt, and keeps your herb fresh for YEARS.

(make sure you DRY that shit out first though!)

^ this is the correct response.... when the bud is frozen trichomes (crystals) fall off easier when being handled :p
 
Ha didn't know that. What kind of freeze are we talking about here? I usually take it out in the morning and smoke when I get home from work. Never noticed it. Next time ill have to check for that. I have been freezing special strains for years.
 
well you most certainly shouldnt freeze it if you're just taking it out to smoke everyday.
thats what a jar is for.

if you freeze it and keep taking it in and out then your herbal is gonna get less and less potent over time.
