Hahaha Marina!! She is one crazy cat on the dancefloor =D

Nice thread and stories. Reminds me of when I was younger and my g/f at the time introduced me to my first 'doof'. I was a Melbourne city kid, all about nightclubs and getting twisted. She was the opposite, hated nightclubs and the crowds that went with them. She got tickets to Earthcore at Lake Eildon in 1999. I guess you could say this is one of the more commercial raves but for a green behind the ears kid like me it was awesome. I couldn't believe how laid back and friendly everyone was.

Times have changed and now married with a young family. My wife and I don't go out much, families are interstate and overseas and we are bogged down working etc.... Makes you wish you could turn back the clock sometimes. I think my last rave was about 5 years ago in out near Shepparton.

Would love to go to rave again and take my little girl. She loves to dance and have fun , she's so full of life. Anyone here take their kids to a rave before ? How did it go ? She is only 3 so I'd be a bit worried about her playing up. Would hate for someones time to be spoilt by a 3 year olds tantrum. Having said that she's a good kid and doesn't play up often but you never know.

Anyway, just thought I'd share my story. Keep up the pics and vids. Cheers.

Well, we're in the somewhat similar situation of having a family + not going out much. Simply because of my mbike related injury, I'm in too much pain to go out but I'm starting to get more 'human' again, so I expect later this year+ I will be heading out :) We have our almost 6 month yr old daughter, we will be taking her to doofs next year. It's good to take kids, especially if you can have them happy lots but if they sook, most people realise it's "a child". Lots of people usually take kids to doofs lately as most of the 'last gen' of doofers are settling down a bit, some involves families/children. I wouldn't take a child to a rave but doof is fine for sure! Just make sure to order some cool kids ear muffs off the net b4 you go ;)

Just like

Protect their hearing :D I lost lots of mine from way too many music events over a 20 year period!

Thanks for the info.... Will keep it in mind. What's the difference between a rave and a doof...? I'm not really into the 'scene' so to speak. In my mind they are the same thing....

A "Rave" is normally held in the city in a warehouse / club, the music is normally trance / hardstyle / the genre of the DJ playing that night. A "Doof" is a party held in a forest / someones block of land out in the middle of nowhere. The music normally consist of Psy / Goa Trance but i have heard some silly mixes much more commercial music at doofs.

Raves are normally a 1 night event that may play to all hours of the morning, most local raves i had been to in the past will have 2+ rooms with a chillout area full of beanbags / couches and somtimes even someone spinning some chill tracks.

Doofs on the other hand can have 3+ dust / mud floors that can play all night and day, the events can take place from 3+ days for the main acts.

You tend to get alot more "kids" to the Raves whereas Doofs will attract the older crowds.

Id love to go into more detail but work calls.

In addidtion to what wazza said, yes, all kids who go to doofs who are anywhere near the dancefloor MUST wear ear muffs to protect their eardrums. But they can't just be the fluffy ones, they need to be the hardcore industrial-strength ones:

Pretty fuckin' cute huh ;) <3

YES!!!! If I lived in Melbourne, Royal Doof would be right up there on my list of priorities for the year's parties.

Waaaaaait just a cotton-pickin' minute!!!!!!!!!

AZAX SYNDROM?!?!?!?!?!!

Can someone please confirm or deny that Azax Syndrom is playing at Royal Doof????? 8o

If so, this is his first trip out to Australia EVER, and I have been a fucking HUGE fan of his for basically ever <3

If so, I will have to either suss out whether he's playing in Sydney, which I suspect he would because I know Lui's been trying to coax him out here for a while now...
OR I will have to come down for Royal ;) %)

I am hypersalivating 8o

I just love that it's not me starting doof threads now. When i first started posting here in 02 or 03 hardly anyone knew what a doof was. The love had been spread. It's awesome. It's so cool seeing so many hearts and souls open to it now. It makes my heart sing =D

out of curiosity when and what was your first doof?

mine was sept 14th 02 elixer 3 at the wattigans nsw, damn well changed my life they have =D

My first doof was the New Years Eve doof 2003-2004, at a beautiful property on top of a mountain at Colo Heights.

My first doof should've been much sooner than that because my ex-boyfriend was a doofer from wayyyyy back, like the mid 90's. He got me in to the music and showed me heaps of photos and everything, thus my love for doof was already born. But he was too paranoid from excessive drug use and too protective of me, so he wouldn't ever "let me" go to a doof.

Needless to say I broke up with him eventually. Me and my current boyfriend got together, we met through friends of rave friends. He'd never even heard of psytrance or doofs or anything! I was always like "Yeah they're these amazing parties in the bush with this mind-blowing music.......but I've never been to one."

FAIL!!

So the next opportunity we had, we actually went to a doof. First time for both of us, and our best mate that we brought with us, who'd been raving with us for years.

Good times man, good times %) <3
