tips for using scales

anyone got any tips for measuring out about 5mg using scales?

5mg seems so little i don't know how much or how im going to take it of the bag or how to manipulate it.
 
get some tweezers and try to get like 20mg on there, as i rarely trust them at 5mg unless its a very nice scale. divide that 20 into 4 piles, make sure theyre even

Try making a little scoop... get a drinking straw and cut it in half at a 45 degree angle.
 
Invest in a scale that reads down to milligrams.

I really wouldn't try to weigh something so minuscule on a standard .1 (or even on a .01) scale. I don't know what kind of drug you're trying to weigh out, but 5 milligrams would be almost invisible to the naked eye, I wouldn't risk it without the proper equipment.

The only other option I can think of is adding a filler material to the point where you can accurately measure out a dose.
 
its mdpv, and my scales are a Mack 20 0.002g, so i dont know if thats a good enough scale cost aboout £65
 
if you use some tweezers its really easy, just weigh out 20mg and divide that, that way its going to be 18-22mg, and it should be pretty easy to divide that evenly

Almost invisible? I can assure you 5mg tends to be bigger than you think.
 
mix it in whatever its solvable in , put it in a visine bottle and drip it....

I am really high right now, but i know there is some math to it... someone chip in
 
If you're set on using scales I'd put a bit of paper onto the weighing pan, tare them back to zero and weigh your powder onto that (much easier to tip powder off of paper than the actual scales).

That said as someone else mentioned volumetric weighing is almost always going to be safer when dealing with such tiny amounts.

Dissolve a known amount of powder (e.g. 100mg) into a certain amount of liquid (e.g. 100ml).
Shake well and using a pipette you can easily take out say 2.5mg by sucking up 2.5ml.

Easier, cheaper and faster :)

If you can use a liquid then the stated volumetric approach is great, but only is you are using a volumetric flask and a micropipet.

alright cheers guys, it would good if someone could post a pic with 10mg or 5mg whatever next to something for scale. as im not sure how little 5mg is
 
put a nickel on your scale to see if it weighs 4.9-5.0 grams to make sure it's calibrated correctly. sometimes scales can get messed up when jostled around. my scale isn't the best, but it's more accurate if i weigh my bud on top of the nickel that's already on the scale. it might help for you too since you're weighing such small amounts.
 
If it is MDPV you are weighing take the dose you want and double it 3 or 4 times, then make a line up and divide in half by eye until you have the dose you are after.

Infact I use that method for weighing out most things that are quite dose sensitive.
 
well im going to use liquid dosing kind of, im going to weigh 20mg so it should have been easier but i spent about an hour mucking around with it and in the end gave up. fucking scale work so fiddly :X weigh a bit of paper put some mdpv on it weigh it again and it weighs less

Sounds like you need to either calibrate your scales or buy a better pair :(
 
Weigh up a larger amount. tip it on glass surface and devide it into equal parts with stanley blade or somsuch.Keep splitting it in half till you get what you want. Do this carefully and you will not be far out.
