When MDMA was brand new, there were tons of reported deaths- when in reality, it may not have been the drug itself, but more likely people with pre-existing conditions, over-hydration, dehydration etc. etc. etc....and when MDMA was fairly new, many speculations and "studies" came out stating extreme health risks (Drained spinal fluid! Permanent holes in the brain!)..
I make this point just to say that perhaps we shouldn't jump to conclusions about these substances- no one can accurately say they are "safe" or not.
I have a tiny little bag of mephedrone me and my boyfriend have yet to try- and I'm quite excited. After reading many accounts, trip reports, mepherdone threads, and talking to a few individuals- most people I've encountered have actually seen LESS adverse effects than they would after using MDMA.
It seems to be an enjoyable substitute for some- but I think the reports of heart problems are a real concern, and if I do enjoy it, I plan to keep it very special occasion (4-5 times a year).
I kind of think if we're on a forum for one drug, to criticize and call another drug "trash" is a bit of the pot calling the kettle black, especially if it's not really a drug we all know a ton about. I've personally worked for rehabs, and I definitely think crystal methamphetamine is a horribly destructive substance compared to most others- but even with crystal math, I've actually met people who use it on a rare occasion and it doesn't affect their day-to-day lives. Calling mephedrone the new "crystal meth" seems a bit sensationalistic.
I don't concern myself with what major news networks have to say about most things- I won't even go on about some of the crap out there, as that would be lengthy and very off-topic
