What has happened to PD?

A much needed change

You are so right daysonatrain, and I'm glad that somebody has finally had the gutsyness to bring it up. I used to frequent PD all the time, everyday wotnot, but it has just gone down the shit-drain with bad vibes over time.

I would like to say, this is not the fault of just one individual (many of whom know who I mean) but many others who have been responding completely negatively for a fair while. A certain 'used-to-be Moderator, and other regulars have been parties to this behaviour - No wonder the Psychedelic and revelations in Action thread got renamed Psychedelics and revelations Inaction.

Me, personally it perturbs my nice soft vibe enough to drive me away from even participating in such discussions any more. As in, the above named thread started out with a beautiful feel and love, and now it surely is that ruined cesspit the OP describes so well, (through such ego-ist and childish behaviour etc.) that it puts one off from participating entirely.

Thanks to all the colourful souls out there who are still keeping a semblance of beauty and hope flowing. I'm floating with it, and, it's totally up to anyone else to do the same.

We could all take the line that exploring psychedelics has somehow helped us to evolve. And that could help us take insults and other slights in a way that allows us to respond without malice or revenge. If we persist in treating those who offend us they will either resolve to meet us on a more civil level, or move on in their journey. Whatever we take personally and respond to with aggression or pain, often says more about our own inner conflicts. Fighting may be satisfying in a primitive way, but everybody ends up hurt in some way. Bluelight is strong and well-establlshed enough to take on detractors and other trollians without bending to archaic methods of self-defence. Surely!

Oh come on man, half the fun of psychedelics is the silliness :). Without wanting to point fingers (though I sense a finger being pointed), what have you personally done to remedy this situation? Or- what would you do? Its pretty easy to sit on the sidelines and comment, but getting in and playing is a whole new kettle of fish....

I'm not sure if you've moderated a large forum before, but its easier said then done. How can one be totally impartial or keep their ego out of a subject, if that particular subject is close to their hearts- as it is with most mods who CHOOSE to do the moderating....?

Cesspit? Relax, this forum went weird for about one week- unless you have other qualms. There is a suggestions thread that is generally taken seriously and you should post in it.

yeah, i already feel the hostility toned down a good bit around here. which is nice :).

personally i dont feel comfortable using the ignore button, especially if it means ignoring someone who could be spreading information that i dont think is entirely accurate, doesnt this kinda reduce the goal of "harm reduction?"

"What have I done to remedy the situation?" Or "what would I do?" I don't know Master Swilow, what remedy is perfect for you? I'm great doing my own thing, chilling the beans with everyone else.

I think that there's a difference between having a different opinion and being a total dick about it, the latter reeks of trolling hence the agitated reactions. But yea this whole thing, without pointing any finger, is just unfortunate. I never expected this whole community to just sit by, watch and ignore foolish behaviour and it didn't, now that the reactions had its effect I hope we can let petty things go and just keep an eye out for healthy morale.

I'm almost tempted to take the few minutes of paging through Teo's posts lists to count how many times he's now made one of these "next time I post will be soooo different" posts. Should we start an over/under pool first? ;)
