Just out of curiosity... I know the debate about smoking weed and being pregnant... how you shouldn't really smoke anything when pregnant, because everything that you put into your body, affects your child growing within you.

So what do you guys think about using a vaporizer?

My best friend just bought a Volcano... and very shortly she found out that she is pregnant. She has completely changed her life around(does not drink, or do drugs anymore), gets exercise and eats healthy.

She is trying to be very careful, and act smart about what she puts in her body... but she loves her Volcano tons. Do you think it is okay for her to use it? Or maybe she should take a break for the 9 months.

no no no no no no no no no. not ok. and 9 months will not cut it with breast feeding time either. this is absolutely unacceptable.

i dont see why one would vaporize but not smoke pot while pregnant

im not making a judgment call on using THC while pregnant because that is for mothers to decide

but i just have to imagine that one is really just 'rationalizing' to themselves to think there is much of a difference for the baby inregards to smoking v vaping

i mean isnt vaping suppossed to be better on the lungs? well if u smoke weed it isnt as if the babies lungs are the 1st stop but the effects of THC being in you blood/body will them impact the baby which IMO would be the same whther the THC got there by being smoked, vaped, eaten, etc

Really? Yeah, smoking is not very good for pregnant women... but most doctor's do not tell you to quit right away if you have been smoking for a long time. It's because quitting smoking provides a lot of extra stress on your body, and most doctor's just try to ease you off it.

I don't think it is the THC that people are worried about harming their child... it is more about all the toxins that come with smoking... and vaping is a much healthier way of in taking marijuana.

The other aspect that needs to be considered... if you try to research whether it is harmful to smoke weed when pregnant... it is impossible to find a straight answer. There are so many debates, that it really comes down to your own choice. Most advise against it, but cannot provide actual facts to support their answer.

Obviously a doctor in the states would tell you to quit immediately... because laws are much stricter there, and people can get their children taken away.

I'm just talking from an open-minded point of view.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Due to the unknown factor if it, I think any responsible mother (parents really, if I had kids I would quit drugs for that period to be supportive you don't need people hitting that shit around you when you can't and you want to) would quit for the period of pregnancy/breast feeding. Unless you think taking that sort of risk and possibly messing up your child for the rest of their life is worth it to get a bit high. I think that kind of thought process is a bit fucked up.

While i believe MJ/THC is a fairly benign drug i dont think it makes sense to say that THC is in anyway beneficial to a developing fetus

Its risk versus reward IMO. Maybe its not bad at all. Maybe it is. We do know that not getting high has less risk than getting high.

I don't have kids but, if I did I doubt I'd place their welfare in the hands of random people on the internet.

That sounds like a very bad / irresponsible idea unless you want your baby looking like this

Honestly, please don't do it. Whether smoked or vaporized, you may be affecting the fetus. How will you feel if you smoke and something goes wrong? Can you live with it for the rest of your life? If you cannot be responsible while your child is inside of you, you are definitely NOT ready to be a parent.

I'm sorry but cannabinoids don't even have a proposed mechanism of harm to a developing fetus.

Buying non-organic food and eating the pesticide residue on it is way worse for a baby than smoking some cannabis. Exposing yourself to fuckin flea & tick collars by petting your pet dog as a pregnant woman is way worse than vaporizing some THC.

In Jamaica, they don't stop toking because of pregnancy, and they feed cannabis to their babies. There are no signs of fetal cannabinoid syndrome there.

Then why don't mothers stop eating unhealthy diets when they get pregnant? I don't hear of many who take the time to limit their fetus' exposure to harmful food. I usually hear of pregnant women giving in to their cravings for junk food.

they should change their diets when pregnant. just because many don't doesn't mean that it is ok that they don't.

^This.

Eloquantly put.

Couldn't have said it better myself. (and didnt for that matter)

Because a large percentage of the human population doesn't think things through, doesn't care that much, or doesn't evaluate reality (ie: the REST of their child's life) properly, and instead decide "yeah it doesn't seem that bad, fuck it I'm doing it anyway". Does that make it OK? That's in the eye of the beholder. I was merely giving my 2 cents on the subject, that being that I believe risking your unborn/newly born baby's health because you THINK it will PROBABLY be ok is just not good enough.

My friends doc demanded she stop smokings ciggs but said weed was ok once in awhile.

Sounds like a quack. She should find a new doctor.

I know people who did smoke cigarettes while pregnant and their child wound up later having major asthma problems.

Cigarettes aren't the same as pot but even still you shouldn't smoke pot or use drugs when you're pregnant.

At least the OP's pregnant friend doesn't use any booze or drugs anymore and eats healthy and exercises.
