I was trying to assemble a simple FAQ for mostly first-time users. I was looking at different sources and available FAQs to find answers, but didn't.

Please answer to following questions, in regards to LSD (and if possible excstasy too):

1. What time of day it's best to take for first time users?
2. Better to be used alone or with friends? What happens if used alone?
3. Should be taken on empty stomach or after food?
4. What is the most efficient method of consumption? (Duration/intensity/overall enjoyment)
(As for example about blot LSD, should it be eaten or put under tongue?)
5. What to prepare before trip? (Foods, drinks, music, etc)
6. What to expect once over (tiredness, sleepiness) and what to do/take to combat that (to fall asleep)?

1. Any time will do. Hallucinogens generally make everything awesome. So night time will be awesome or day time will be awesome. For a first time, you may want to start in the morning. wake up, clean up a little bit, then dose. my first time with acid was at night. same with mushrooms.

2. It can be taken either with or without people. If you take it with people make sure they are responsible people. Also, make sure that everyone is aware of the effects of the material. Do not dose, and hang around a bunch of people that are not dosed. They will probably think you are acting weird, and may think you need help. I know a kid who did that, and his friends brought him to the hospital after only taken 2 hits of decent acid... definitely not enough to go to the hospital, but just a good decent trip. Their reason was that he was not being communicative. stupid. If you stay alone, have a friend close by that you can call... let them know what you are doing in advance. My first time with acid was alone and I think it was much more pleasant than my first shroom experience which was with 3 other people. None of us were experienced... and we all had a different idea. I was more spiritual and emotional about it... and they just wanted to get off. Sometimes it is nice to have a guide... someone who has tripped dozens of times. I have tripped well over 100 times. Sometimes, I enjoy bringing people into the world. Generally, every first timer has had a splendid experience alongside me. I have a love for these chemicals, though, and I think that transmits to the feelings and emotions of the people I introduce especially during the chemical buzz.

3. take acid on an empty stomach. It will kick in quicker. If you feel you must eat before the experience have a small portion of bread. Bread and drugs go together well in my opinion. With chemicals like the 2c's sometimes it is good to eat before... they will enhance your hunger during the experience. Acid generally makes me forget about what type of nourishment my body needs until the end of the trip. I can eat a few hours into the experience and it will be pretty good. cooking up some steak is pretty awesome.

4. I don't think it matters. Throw it in your mouth. If you want a piece of paper under your tongue for a while... it may kick in quicker? i can never really tell. Sometimes I swallow it immediately, while other times I've left the blotter kicking around for an hour or so. Sometimes I chew the blotter.

5. clean, clean, clean before your experience. When you start tripping you will be glad you did. That's for indoor tripping. have some juice and maybe some hummus and crackers if you want food. Hummus is cool cause it can be very flavorful. If you do outdoor tripping, keep it simple. Don't bring things that you can lose. And for a first time, you should be in a very discreet place - a place of solitude that you have found. A place where you can go to clear your mind. I have a few spots. These spots should not have many people. A few people is alright as long as they are not going to stop and ask you a thousand questions.... although you never really know when that may happen. me and my ex ate shrooms at a pretty awesome spot on the beach for a sunrise trip. You had to walk through some woods to get there... and there were no people at all. First thing I did was take my clothes off. We were naked mostly the whole time. Some people walked by later on and I was still naked... I think they were put off by me. Whatever. more people started coming around and I had to put on some shorts. I probably only saw maybe 10-15 people that day though. Pretty good spot... no one really bothered me... and i even got in a conversation or 2.
I think the best place is somewhere where you can go inside and outside. If you have woods near your house, preferably in your backyard, that is an awesome place to do it. You may be able to find a friend with a house near or in the woods?

6. You will not fall asleep on good acid. Even at low doses... you will not fall asleep for upwards to 8 hours... especially if it is your first experience. I stayed up really long from my first experience... but I was in high school at the time and did it on a school night. I had to go to school in the morning... so sleep was forgotten about. But I've seen some first timers get some strong stuff, and stay up way after the experience had ended... just because they felt they couldn't sleep again. You'll sleep again eventually. Sometimes if you do a lot in a trip, you are glad to go to bed by the end of it. Bed feels welcoming... probably still take you a while to sleep though.

Hope this helps a little bit. Good luck. Acid is great fun and come open up plenty new ways of thinking about your perceptions. Enjoy.

1. What time of day it's best to take for first time users?
Any time is good really, you have to realise it lasts around 12 hours and sleeping before the effects wear off is typically impossible. LSD causes quite a bit of insomnia right after the trip, so if you're more of a morning person I'd suggest taking it in the day time. If you don't mind being up all night tripping at night is lovely too. The visuals are different in full daylight or in the dark but I'd say try both some time, LSD is lovely any time of the day.

2. Better to be used alone or with friends? What happens if used alone?
I myself am strongly for tripping with other people but ofcourse you'd have to make sure they're trustworthy friends. I think good friends can be a nice distraction from odd thoughts and its nice and reassuring to have someone near you who feels roughly the same. I've personally never tripped alone (not even in a total of 45 trips, weird if I think about it) so I can't exactely tell you what happens but I think it'd be more introspective and maybe a little less recreational.

3. Should be taken on empty stomach or after food?
On an empty stomach should make it kick in faster but LSD is usually not one of those psychedelics that causes nausea so it doesn't matter if you eat before the trip. I usually just eat normal on days I do LSD, I'd say wait atleast if you've eaten until you're not feeling very full anymore, that should probably make for a more pleasant come up.

4. What is the most efficient method of consumption? (Duration/intensity/overall enjoyment)
Holding it in the mouth (under the toung) for about 15 minutes makes it come up really fast in me, the first tripping signs are usually there within 20-30 minutes and within 1.5 hours its often already near peak, appearantly you can also just eat the blotter, but for those who are impatient and prefer a quicker start of the trip I'd say holding it in your mouth for 15 minutes is the ideal way.

5. What to prepare before trip? (Foods, drinks, music, etc)
Music, music, music; and maybe something interesting to look at, like a nice piece of nature of some pictures on a computer depending where you are. I'd say go for the music you normally like and drinks you normally like; eating the first 5-6 hours of your trip is not neccisairy; its possible and especially things like fruit and tiny candies can be nice but hunger often stays away until the comedown. Music is quite an experience on its own so I'd say prepare enough of any genre you like and try it all out.

6. What to expect once over (tiredness, sleepiness) and what to do/take to combat that (to fall asleep)?
Tiredness after LSD is rare for me, in me it causes bad insomnia and I never take anything against it; I just wait with trying to sleep until I'm sure I can, which often means staying up till 1-2 pm the next day, but I just hate lying away and trying to fall asleep when its not possible, and since LSD can make it really impossible to fall asleep (you can phisically feel tired, but your mind stays really awake for even a bit after the trip). Making sure you moved enough in your trip (dancing, going for walks) and use up your energy might make falling asleep easier, or prepare some silly things to watch / do when you can't sleep yet but are phisically too tired to do anything interesting; I often end up watching cartoons for hours in the very late comedown (10+ hours after taking it, depending on the dose) myself.

1. Entirely up to personal preference. Physiologically I know of no reason the time of day should matter, especially since not everyone is on the same sleep schedule. Since LSD lasts a long time and can make sleeping difficult, it may be advisable to dose within a few hours of waking up, at least for a first time, to avoid being kept awake longer than necessary/desired.

2. This is also very personal. Myself, I usually prefer to trip alone, although my first couple times were with friends. I know others who hate tripping alone because they find it too hard to avoid negative thought loops without distractions and/or just really love interacting with other trippers while tripping. I recommend against being the only one tripping in a group of relatively sober people, or being in public with people who are not close friends who know you are tripping, again at least for your first time. IMO the ideal group for a group trip is somewhere around 4-6 close friends, with one person on lighter drugs like pot for the day to keep an eye on the trippers. Most people I know have never personally needed a 'sitter' like this to intervene on any of their trips, although in rare cases people are tripping so hard they lose sight of the real world around them and are at risk of hurting themselves if they don't know well enough to keep pretty still while this is going on for them; the main reason sitters come in handy, in my experience, is to deal with minor interruptions like a phone call or knock at the door, or to help tripping people with otherwise simple tasks like working a remote control or computer to change the show/music/etc., getting food and drinks for people who are incapable of doing it themselves, etc. I wouldn't go as far as some and tell you not to even consider tripping alone until you're experienced, but I would recommend a sitter.

3. It's a balancing act. Fast too much and the hunger may annoy/bother you and reduce the quality of your trip since you're preoccupied, but eat a big meal right before/during/after dosing and it can slow down your come up dramatically - that acid ain't gonna make you trip till it gets metabolised, at least the portion that doesn't make its way into your bloodstream directly (see 4). I would usually eat a moderate to light meal - nothing heavy or super filling, usually a sandwich or even just a big bowl of soup - and dose maybe 2 hours or so after finishing my meal. Sometimes, although I know it's not healthy in general, I would fill up shortly before sleeping (weed usually helped encourage this plan ; ), then dose shortly after waking. Some people don't mind a day of fasting and fast several hours before the trip and wait till after the peak or even the next day to eat. While tripping, I usually try to stick to easy to eat and digest snacks - nuts, fruits, etc. - although sometimes I find a full meal quite satisfying after the peak. My personal favorite food to combine with most orally consumed drugs that I don't like taking on a full stomach is fruit smoothies. I have taken many different psychoactive drugs and been in many different mental states, and there are few things more universally appealing, nourishing without being bloating, and all around ideal for the job than a good smoothie. When have you ever had a real fruit smoothie and not felt at least a bit better/healthier? Mmm, I want one now, might have to head to Jamba Juice after this post and I'm not even tripping today ;)

4. Most people I've met never bother with any methods besides oral and sublingual. As far as I know, IM, IV and insufflation are all options, but I certainly wouldn't recommend busting out a rig for someone's first LSD trip! Tabs and liquid work best for sublingual. With liquid, I usually drop the solution under my tongue (be sure to dilute it if it's a nearly pure ethanol based solution, made that mistake once with another synthetic psychedelic and it burned like hell ; ), hold it for a few minutes then have a drink and swallow a bunch to get anything left over into my stomach. With tabs depending on size and number I either hold them under my tongue as well or just swish 'em around in my mouth, sometimes both, then swallow. You can just swallow them outright, but it will slow the onset usually. LSD doses are so impossible to verify and the effects themselves so unpredictable and inconsistent in intensity that I couldn't tell you anything beyond what I could find by looking up bioavailability stats in terms of effect on intensity.

5. Again, rather personal. See above about eating and my snack suggestions, but you can fill in your favorite easy-to-eat forms of nourishment (I looooove peanuts for this - if you're really hungry, but don't wanna eat, a handful of roasted peanuts will keep ya going). Whatever music you want to listen to, have it available of course. Some people like music, tv and/or video games while tripping; to others, anything but a walk out in nature or a quiet room for meditation might sound like a 'waste of a trip'. For a first time, I say have as many options open as possible, maybe avoid the outdoor walks in public places though. It'll take personal experience to decide which trip activities you like best. I found quite quickly that I am not suddenly magically interested in making art or poetry while tripping; others find it to be their creative muse of sorts. Listening to music is almost universally popular but genres vary and a lot of people don't like some or all of their normal music while tripping. Rock and rap tend not to fare as well. Electronic music and psychedelics seem to go hand in hand for many, although some strongly prefer classical/baroque/other orchestral type compositions. Complex, abstract music like this is in general preferable to 'radio friendly' music that uses lyrics in more traditional ways (telling a story or whining about a failed romance as opposed to silly samples in electronic tracks, etc.), but I bet there are some out there who love that sort of stuff while tripping, too. Visual stimuli can of course be interesting to add to the visual distortions - think rave toys. Weird lights and glowy things and the like. I had a friend who was really into circuit bending (taking talking children's toys like Speak-N-Spells and modifying the electronics to produce weird, distorted sounds - he would add all sorts of extra switches, buttons, etc. to further distort the output. He found them to be awesome trip toys. In general, things that can be played with without requiring too much focus or attention work best. Games can be fun but it's often hard or simply uninteresting to follow the rules of the game and play to win - more "childlike" toys that produce novels sights, sounds, etc. are usually best, IMO.

6. The main physical symptom most people share is INability to sleep. It's virtually impossible to fall asleep while tripping and slowly becomes easier over several hours after you're mostly back to baseline. Some people take sleep aids like diphenhydramine at the end of a trip to sleep. Personally, sleep aids make me more tired but they don't make it *super* easy to fall asleep (I have severe chronic insomnia), and a couple times I've taken them too early and found myself still unable to sleep but even more tired, to the point where it goes from being mildly annoying to actively unpleasant. Now I typically just wait it out and plan ahead for the likely disruption to my sleep schedule. The only advice I can offer here for a first timer is to have at least 48 hours from when you dose to when you will have to be at work/school/etc. again, in case you end up awake till 1pm the next day or something. More is even better, but that should be enough time to get back on a tolerable sleep schedule again. As with pretty much all my advice here, nothing I can tell you is half as valuable as a trip or two first hand.

MDMA is an entirely different drug with only a few passing surface similarities to LSD. You'd be best off asking on the Ecstasy forum there. I made the LSD answers longer than intended (hard to shut up about psychedelics for a psychedelic fan ; ), so I've got a bit of forum fatigue here, but some quick answers about MDMA (assuming the 'E' is pure MDMA and not one of the countless other drugs it could be - no FAQ can tell you what drugs you were sold, of course):

1. Since MDMA only lasts a few hours, it matters even less than with LSD. I usually take it in the evening because that's when young people go out and do stuff and MDMA is a very social drug for me. Plus, I find it's easier to avoid a hangover or post-comedown negative feelings in general if you don't try to stay up for a full evening after coming down but instead can transition from 'coming down' to 'asleep'. While it's stimulating when active, MDMA doesn't seem to make it any harder to sleep that night, maybe even easier as it tires me out.

2. Most people much prefer MDMA with friends. It will make you euphoric, chatty, 'loved up' especially toward people you already like to begin with and it is often called an "empathogen" because of the profound sense of empathy it produces in most people. You won't just _want_ to interact with people - talking to them, not only sharing with them but listening to what they have to say, will be a profoundly satisfying experience in a way that is hard to describe until you've felt it. It's plenty fun alone as well and that can be a useful way to use it more for introspection, but it really shines in a group and I wouldn't recommend a solo roll for your first time. Unlike LSD, I am a lot less bothered by being around sober friends while rolling, although of course it's always best to avoid people you can't tell you're on drugs since that adds an unnecessary element of anxiety. The more opportunities for social interaction, the better, IMO. MDMA is one of the few illegal substances I can really enjoy while blitzed in public.

3. Orally it will kick in faster on an empty-ish stomach. Other than that I don't think it makes a big difference, but since it doesn't take that long to kick in on a fairly empty stomach and I have no problems eating while on it, I usually try to take it with a similar amount of food in my belly as with LSD. However, if it doesn't work out that way I can't imagine choosing to delay a planned roll solely over my eating schedule for the day.

4. Again, I steer clear of needles and don't know a lot about using MDMA that way. I've always taken it either orally or via insufflation. I would only recommend insufflation with pure MDMA powder or "molly" as there's no telling *what* you're snorting with a pressed pill. Most clean pills are probably fine to rail, too, but I don't think it's worth the risk. As with most drugs, compared to oral ingestion, insufflation kicks in faster, has a more intense peak but also doesn't last as long. I think I actually prefer oral for this reason - a proper oral dose of MDMA if it's been long enough since my last roll to let my brain recover will be plenty intense enough and my biggest concern with dosing and ROA is making it last as long as possible, since redosing doesn't work that well and using it repeatedly in a short time frame is a big no-no, both for health reasons and because you just won't get a very good roll out of it.

5. I usually prep for a roll by making plans for the night to go out and/or chill with some close friends. Unlike the 5HT2a psychedelics like LSD, shrooms, etc., I don't find that MDMA changes how enjoyable I find most things in general aside from dramatically increasing the enjoyability of any social interaction. So long as I'm with people I enjoy spending time with, I could be listening to music or playing video games at someone's place, out at a party, concert or rave, or doing just about anything I might otherwise do and it'll be a blast. It probably makes me less focused on the competitive aspect of games, but that focus translates to more attention paid to the social aspects of the experience as opposed to the boredom I might feel if I get stuck playing xbox on acid or something.

6. Some people get nasty hangovers, even temporary depression after rolling. Personally, I usually feel exhausted but happy - most drugs give me an afterglow like this, although MDMA also seems physically exhausting - I don't hurt the next day, but I'm pretty sure I would if I tried to go run a marathon or something. As with acid, plan to have a recovery day after your first roll with no major obligations like work or school.

7. This isn't an answer to anything you asked and I already alluded to it above, but my #1 piece of advice to anyone who uses this lovely compound is to PLEASE read up on the safety issues with MDMA use, particularly regarding staying hydrated and repeated use over the short term and also its contraindications with various other drugs. MDMA is one of the compounds I'm most grateful for having experienced, but if you abuse it you can not only permanently ruin your ability to experience a roll, but cause severe brain damage or even death in very extreme cases. No joke, despite 0 health consequences that I know of to date, I consider the handful of times I have violated the "two week rule" with MDMA to be some of the dumbest things I have ever done. Please don't push your luck - treat this one with the respect it deserves.

My 2 cents - this is just my experience for LSD. MDMA is different.

1. What time of day it's best to take for first time users?
Mind-morning to lunch time. You feel fresh and I prefer day-time visuals.

2. Better to be used alone or with friends? What happens if used alone?
With close friends. Alone might be too intense.

3. Should be taken on empty stomach or after food?
I prefer about 30 mins after a light meal.

4. What is the most efficient method of consumption? (Duration/intensity/overall enjoyment) (As for example about blot LSD, should it be eaten or put under tongue?)

As long as it hits your tongue it's all good. Chew on it if you like, I don't think it matters.

5. What to prepare before trip? (Foods, drinks, music, etc)

Food and drink that you'd normally like to eat. Something substantial but easy. Having candles/incense might be good if it gets dark early. Music you're familiar with. Maybe some nitrous.

And I totally agree with omicamushroom - make your environment as nice as possible. A dirty/messy place to trip can be depressing.

6. What to expect once over (tiredness, sleepiness) and what to do/take to combat that (to fall asleep)?

Expect your mind to be racing for a long time. Have a movie or something to watch afterwards. Sleeping can be difficult. Alcoholic drinks will help. Benzos if you can get them.

1. Night,its allways better...more visual & spiritual.
2. Alone, everybody will tell you to trip with friend becose you can do something stupid... thats truth with salvia or any heroic dose trip.If its under 2000mcg (lsd) or something equivalent its alot better to be alone. It adds freedom, theres nobody to judge you, less external stimulation = deeper trip.Everything is better alone becose you can use all your brain capacity to things you want, conversation or any ideas about person that is with you distract you from concentrating.
3. Have a light, healthy food before trip.Peanut butter is like rocket fuel for your brain.I will avoid meat for trip day.
4. Drop it under your tongue, suck it,chew it little bit and dont open your mouth ( dont talk,smoke... ) for 20-30 minutes and then swallow.
5. Alot great music... mix of your best tunes and possibly great tunes that you never heard.Best feelings in my life was allways from listening awesome new music on epic dose trips.Get one funny film to watch at the end of the trip.
6. Dont take any crap to combat whatever you will feel after trip except weed, ketamine, dmt, salvia or jhw-18.Good trip makes me feel like I just waked up even if I wasnt sleeping for 24 hours, expect to feel like reborn after, have a nice interstellar trip ;)

7. ( bonus info ) Take 2400mg piracetam with 3600mg lecithin and ginkgo, this boosts every good thing trip can give you, mainly hearing intensity and sound detail would be drasticly increased. It makes sound and visual alot sharper, more high definition.I love it so much that I didnt have trip without it since I found this magic neuro-accelerator.

Lots of tl;dr's and I just kind of scanned through it, I'm really busy but I'll put in my 2 cents on things I saw.

clean, clean, clean before your experience.

Totally agreed. Having a clean slate of a system is so important for a good trip, don't be on anything else, don't be coming down or withdrawing from something, etc.

Along with clean system in the food department, don't trip after you've been eating box dinners all week.

1. Night,its allways better...more visual & spiritual.

Nope. I'd say they're equal, both have their merits. Daytime trips are immensely spiritual as well, IME anyways.

Take 2400mg piracetam

Whoa. With LSD?

Careful there, piracetam can make things very unpredictable with psychedelics, sometimes to dangerous degrees. Check out our psychedelic and nootropics interaction thread in the index.

piracetam is most predictable dangerless thing I ever used in my life on trip or alone. Its perfectly safe, untoxic without any bad side effects even if used with crazy drug combos.I highly recomend it to anybody from oldschool hippies to twelve years old kids that are going to get high for first time.

both day and night have their own special vibe but meditating in the middle of the night on fat dose of acid is special, cant replicate that mindstate when sun shines.

Likely not a good idea to recommend to 12 year old kids to partake in strong psychedelics. ;)

I also think the first time with a substance should be with that substance alone.

I and many others that have taken piracetam with psychedelics have reported the effect of tripping extremely hard. I have had some good experiences with it. It's just a bit unpredictable and intense and I think for a first time trip it should be left out of the equation.

First time LSD is powerful enough as it is IMO.

piracetam make trip more sharp and intelectual, music is more intense but it in no way stronger or hard to control.I stopped using all psychedelics without it,its alot better with it.... music is much more colorfull and geometric.

Individual responses to piracetam + psychedelics seem to vary a LOT. I wouldn't recommend anything so unpredictable for a novice tripper. At any rate, I definitely agree with PS that any new drug is best experienced more or less on its own first. I would make exceptions for cannabis if you're a daily smoker - I'd say there's no real need to abstain for the first try with most new drugs - and with minor psychoactives like nicotine, caffeine, most OTCs at indicated doses, etc. - things that won't substantially alter the experience. I also agree on the no trips for 12 year olds ;). I'm not sure where the age line should be drawn, but I'm pretty sure it should be above 12.

What dose of piracetam you take? What psychedelics did you use it with? Any unpleasant effects and how to counter them if yes?
