This is the third fucking time I'm posting this... READ IT...

Look guys I'm not saying smoking doesn't work wonderfully for some people, but many people have had bad experiences with smoked Salvia divinorum... this thread is just intended to tell them to take another look, because chewing the fresh leafs really is VERY VERY different from the smoked experience!

The Shamans in Mexico DO know about smoking it you fool. Ya your right... you've worked with this plant for... maybe 10 years? They've worked with it for 1000s... I'm sure you know more than the shamans.

Haha his posts and rants would go a lot better if he would just give you the information and let you decide how you use it but instead he says "your way is wrong mine is right so change now!".

Yes, I know more about salvia than the clueless, dead shamans of the past.

This isn't to say I'm better than they are, they're just dead whereas I'm alive and doing well. I also have smoked salvia, it's a wonderful experience.

Who are you going to believe? A corpse in the ground, or me? I wouldn't need too long to figure out who to listen to. I'll give you some time to consider the philosophical ramifications of "listening" to dead people.

But have the shamans smoked 10X, 100X? I think the most intense experiences with salvia must be happening today. It's difficult to imagine that salvinorin A is a breakdown product from another molecule that just happens to be a highly effective hallucinogen since I don't think there's anything chemically similar to salvinorin A that's remotely as active, if at all (correct me if I'm wrong). It's even more difficult to imagine this other compound resembles classical psychedelics in its effects, since the classics and salvinorin A act by very different mechanisms. Extract tinctures are said to provide a slower and more reflective experience closer to what's described with the quid, so why bother with trying to grow the large amount of these difficult plants needed to supply quids unless you're a hobby botanist/horticulturalist (as, I believe, you are)? Also, hypothetically speaking, why would plant spirits be angry for being dried out and burned but not for being chewed to a pulp and spat into the dirt?

Teo, how many times do people have to ask you to act less dogmatic? It's nice that you like to show everyone another perspective but you are only harming your own credibility by these skewed formulations of it.
If you've got such great insight, calmly present it to the people here and if indeed great it will be picked up.

He didn't say that explicitly, anyway I think Salvia Divinorum is one of those things that is hardly understood at all by anyone other than shamans, contemporary or dead and buried.
Possibly even more so than ayahuasca or even iboga (although iboga is also some seriously deep shit).

It's my personal opinion that both Salvia and DMT should not be smoked if the purpose is to use it as a therapeutic spiritual medicine. The experience unfolds so rapidly that there can be taken very little from it other than an overwhelmed sense of awe or, if you're not so lucky, terror.
I guess that chewing Salvia is the way to go, and oral DMT is as well. Smoked DMT is great to me as well but I would never say that it does the stuff real justice, nevertheless the experience is very much worth it anyway.
With Salvia I have had sub-threshold doses that were not that fast in speed and they gave me a deeply entheogenic meditation experience, but overdosing is so extremely common that I think that Salvia is abused more often than nawt. Feels like that to me IME and it seems logical as well.
 
We are not stupid, and you are not smart. Be wary, your a known person, and not for good reasons. I'd be taking a big backstep were I you (which, thankfully, I'm not).

I see you managed to catch yourself there, but didnt mention the fact that you were entirely incorrect in your assumption.

It's not bad advice. In fact it's perfect advice. This is the psychedelic forum, not a political ground or your average every day place where people disregard each other's ideas on a consistent basis without any real thought. You cant plow people with a point of view here and expect it to take hold, even if you're 100% right. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. Obviously you understand this and recognize good advice. Unfortunately based on your other comments you're a bit too high up there too admit it out loud yet.

Just thought I'd say that, seeing as I think I used to suffer the same problem.
 
You are obviously knowledgable, but really, no-one cares if a shaman looks down on our practise of smoking salvia; this webste is about harm reduction, and, IMO, smoking salvia equals shorter duration which in turn equals less risk of harm to the user.

Smoking salvia is more intense than orally, just because it lasts shorter doesn't mean it's safer.

As a matter of fact you're more likely to do something dangerous after smoking it because it's so confusing.

The Shamans probably smoked it, didn't like it...then they took it orally and found what they thought was the correct way to use it.

My question for those who are constantly being offended by the OP. Have you ever taken salvia orally the way the shamans have?

If so you can't really comment, saying stuff like "I've gone further than shamans" is BS.

There are Shamans that can keep a straight face while singing a song with spirits after doing plant hallucinogens that would fuck your logic-based western mind up = P
 
Yes, I've quidded plain leaf many times. It can be a good experience but at the end of the day it is a weak experience compared to SMOKING EXTRACTS.

As a few people have already pointed out above...they didnt have extracts to smoke and yes, people these days are having the most intense Salvia experiences.

So yes, WHEN IT COMES TO SALVIA DIVINORUM (not talking about anything else here), I guarantee you I have been further with this plant than a bunch of men dressed in funny clothes sitting around chewing on big wads of leaf.

1) How could you know what their experiences are? Well trained shamans can enter hyperspace without any drugs at all... can you do that?

Shamans don't just live in huts and wear funny clothes... plenty of them are modern, normal people outside their shamanic context. I'd wager a number of native Mexican shamans have smoked extracted Salvia divinorum... the youth in Mexico do it...

First of all...it's YOU'RE...not YOUR...did you go to school?

When the Shamams or anyone for that matter can explain to me what is going on with all these people (myself included) experiencing the turning wheels/machines and the Beings/People then I'll listen. If you are just going to talk about nonsense like female deer spirits, Lady Salvia, the shepherdess and all that crap...then I'm not going to listen. That is nothing compared to what I (and others who smoke extract) go through when large doses of extract are smoked. Get on YouTube and watch the videos of Tvsuat.

You're full of shit.

I find it funny that so many people buy into the hype of Shamans/Shamanism. Do you believe in magic too? Fairy tales? Hollywood movies? Ghosts & goblins?
 
Am I the only person who realizes that the word "SHAMAN" contains the word "SHAM" ?

Sham - something that is not what it purports to be; a spurious imitation; fraud or hoax. a person who shams; shammer. to make a false show of something; pretend.
 
jesus people.... this is a drug. an we are discussing a method of getting high from it. calm down.

smoking extracts gets you very high, fresh leaves much less.

using orally fresh or extract gets you kinda high.

these are the facts. the rest is speculation and personal opinion. choose one for your own and dont be a dick about it. salvia is not some holy spirit in a plant. and shamans were shamans.... not experts on drugs effects on the body and in no way scientists.
