Bluelight monthly desktop wallpaper contest! Round one: New beginnings

I tried to make 3 sizes that would scale down to popular resolutions. 1600x1200 is 4:3 so it will scale down to 1024x768 perfectly.

:D no matter how good the submissions are, it's hard for me to imagine anything which beats my current wallpaper!

BBB- i'm wondering if they just didn't notice the theme.

BushMonster/Care - Would you please explain how your submissions relate to "new beginnings"?

#justcurious

btw, ive been atop half dome a few times but holy christ it looks even crazier from that pov. nice pic!

Either the thread title was changed or I just didn't notice the theme.

I've been on top of half dome a few times myself, its breathtaking. However I think the coolest pictures you can take are looking at it from either north dome or glacier point, because you cant see how awesome half dome looks when you're standing on it.

I'm planning on doing it again this summer. I live close enough to Yosemite so I can wake up at home, drive there, do the hike and drive back home in one day :).

Sorry about the incorrect format, that picture was taken off myspace, I think I have a .TIFF of it on my home PC.

Sweet P, you can use Irfanview's free re-sizing software.

chrissie, perhaps you could put that link in the OP as well?

Sure thing! Also added Picnik, a free web-based editor that seems pretty good.

The only rules apply to the sizing of the images. I have picked out 3 sizes that I believe should scale properly for most resolutions. There must also be a display image to show the submission. Feel free to link more sizes but these three are necessary.

Okay, I wished I had asked before I went ahead. But here goes. So each size is a different ratio, that means each file is in different proportions, not stretched versions of each other? I hope my entry is within the guidelines, I'm just a bit confused.

1280x1024 / 1600x1200 / 1920x1200

None of them are how they imagined on my desktop without having to 'stretch' them.

I have windows XP... I'm confused! :( :(

Edit: It's okay, I made one to suit my desktop [1024x768]

I'm happy with that now :)

Awesome!

The 1280x1024 should scale down to 1024x768 just right, it's the same ratio. Feel free to link more sizes though!

^ Thanks you two :)

This was a good challenge. I thought about it for a couple of days, and I'm pretty happy in the end. As an afterthought I would have put a ... after the text. Oh well.

Here is the 1024x768 I made to suit my desktop

^^ Hahaha I was thinking the same thing!
Like, you know what? It really is the best wallpaper ever!! :D

Bumpage to keep off the second page.

Anyone else interested in this? I thought there would be a bit more of a response...

If I had Photoshop or something similar I would be all over this.

But alas, I do not.

sticky? add closing date on subject line? secksytime behind the church on the hill?
