Bluelight monthly desktop wallpaper contest! Round one: New beginnings

I've been meaning to start a design competition here for a while and this idea just came to me. Let's start this off on a monthly basis and see how things go. That gives people more time to create something if they want. The submission period will be the whole month and voting will take place the first week of the next month.

Round one - February 2010
Theme - New Beginnings
Submission Period - 2/1-2/28
Voting - 3/1 - 3/7

Rules
There are absolutely no rules about the creation of the artwork for these desktops. They can be created with any medium: photo, computer, painting etc. and can be manipulated in any way the artist wants. Of course no stealing of copyrighted work!

The only rules apply to the sizing of the images. I have picked out 3 sizes that I believe should scale properly for most resolutions. There must also be a display image to show the submission. Feel free to link more sizes but these three are necessary.

Filetype: jpg, gif or png
Submission display image: 600x450
3 linked wallpaper sizes

• 1280x1024 (5:4)
• 1600x1200 (4:3)
• 1920x1200 (8:5)

i could probably make one. so you basically want the same but with the big coathanger? do you have photoshop? if so, i can save it with the layers so you can rearrange it however you want.

nah dont' have photoshop but yeh with the coathanger would be sweet doesnt really matter about the layers, just want a nice sydney wallpaper. All the ones I find manage to shit it up somehow.

How might you guys resize pictures that you take (to those exact resolutions)... I've got a 12 mp camera waiting to wall paper it up. (I use a macbook, if it's any concern)

photoshop or imagetricks (free) can do it.

Nice! But please re-read the rules about image sizes or you won't be entered.

Also, I added something about copyright. Thanks, IP and hoopy Also added PNG to the image types. I didn't think you could imbed them on Bluelight for some reason. Thanks, Changed!

It's a pity that the standard (or once-standard) 1024x768 resolution isn't allowed. I've got heaps of photos that size.
