i know combo threads are not allowed here, but this isn't a typical combo thread. it's actually in the name of harm reduction.

i have a mild opiate tolerance. the only opiates i have ever did is codeine, hydrocdone, and oral morphine. on their own i take 40-50mgs of hydrocodone and 75-90mgs of oral morphine.

3 days ago. in an attempt to conserve my opiates i though i could take way less of each and still get high. so i took 12.5mgs of hydrocodone and 37.5mgs of oral morphine. well my plan worked, i got really high which was enjoyable. i did find it very odd on high i was off such low doses of both substances.

i ended up going to bed to nap off the high. i tossed and turned for about 3 hours and got back up and ate something. by now it had been about 8 hours since i dosed and i was surprised at how high i still felt.

i smoked a bowel of weed and i felt like it brought back the opiate feeling to peak status. i to high. i was very sweaty, dizzy, and felt as if i was gonna puke or pass out. i was really close to calling 911.

i waited it out for a bit and more than 10 hours after taking the dose i finally starting to come down.

i have searched quite a bit but cant find any info on this.

do you guys think this reaction was caused by the way morphine and hydrocodone are metabolized and excreted from the body or did i simply just have to much?

nbd, js this thread is more suited for journal, i think its safe to say that you took drugs and you got high, thats what happens. why would you take MORE morphine than hydrocodone recreationally?

also, yes the marijuana has a tendency to increase the effects of opiates. the combo proved to be too much opiate for your system as sweating, dizziness, and all of that you mentioned all proves that.

i think the problem was you just took too much for your tolerance.

nbd, js this thread is more suited for journal,

+1. There are lots of threads already out here covering this same topic with taking 1 opioid, multiple opioids, mixing other sedatives... it sounds like you exceeded your tolerance, got high and felt a little sick. Its quite common.

i know how common it is to over do it and feel sick on opiates. i know, i've did it quite a few times. while my tolerance is not huge i do have one. i've been doing opiates for quite awhile and have never experienced anything like this. i've did other opiate combos way more excessive then what it i did here.

so that's why the question specifically was, "was this reaction caused by the way morphine and hydrocodone are metabolized and excreted from the body?" like are these two opiates a bigg no-no to mix because of bad interactions.

please point me to a thread that covers mixing hydrocodone and morphine because i could not find. there was about every other combo thread but this. i also went over the morphine F.A.Q. sorry if i over looked something.

No, there is nothing MORE dangerous about mixing morphine and hydrocodone then mixing other opioids or taking a larger dose of either.

Most of morphine and hydrocodone's effects are due to their direct effects on the CNS, not so much the effects of their metabolites (although a bit of hydrocodone will metabolize into hydromorphone). So these opiates aren't a bigger no-no than other opiate combinations per say. I guess I'm pretty much repeating what cane just said, but he's right, ya know.

I think you just started bugging out after you smoked the weed. If you could normally handle a larger dose of both together, there's no reason to why you could not have easily handled the smaller dose. It also depends on what you have eaten during the day, and a host of other things.

yeah supposedly this is a bad combo... My old best friend, His step father of 15 years died around the end of 2007 from this combination... They found him after he had been dead on the kitchen floor in his house after one week. He OD'd on morphine and hydrocodone.. Its crazy when you get a reality check with somebody dying of an OD.. Be careful 'yall

^I don't see how its any riskier than mixing any other full mu agonists though. Theres nothing thats special about this combination, you run the same risks as if you mixed morphine and oxycodone, morphine and dilaudid, morphine and fentanyl, etc.

I've never had any problem mixing opiates, or with opiates period; except that time I woke up face down on the floor when I was IV'ing. Guess I took 2-3 shots I don't even remember, just found the used needles:| never thought you could black out on opiates like that.

I know this is an old thread but I was about to ask the same question, if its dangerous mixing Morphine & Hydrocodone but I see it was answered above.

Also, does one of these opiates cancel out the other if mixed? Like would Morphine cancel out the effects of hydrocodone if mixed or would both highs mix nicely & compliment themselves?

It's not dangerous like mixing 2 different types of CNS depressants like benzos + opiates or alcohol + opiates. Just make sure you know how much to dose. It's not gonna cancel each other out. You'll just feel like you're on opiates. I don't know how else to describe it. Try it and see how you like it.

I blend opiates all the time. It's kind of like blending grape varieties for wine!

Plus it keeps things interesting. If you do just one opiate type you have no where to go but up, but this way I use the same equivalents but get different "flavors" each time!

acid_staind... I know you said you have used opiates before and are not a naive user but perhaps it had been a while since your last dose? The longer you go without opiates the more your tolerance goes down..

Like others have said.. its not in anyway more dangerous to mix hydrocodone and morphine then it is to just take a bunch more hydrocodone by itself.

I dont think what happened to you is an OD or a borderline OD in anyway.. I just think you did a bit more than your limit and felt nausea afterwards.. It is very, very EASY to cross the border of feeling high to feeling sick while using opiates. Even the slightest higher dose can make you feel nauseated. Its a pretty fine line with opies. Even people who have a huge opiate tolerance.. meaning everyday users will get the same effects if they use more than their tolerance allows.. The weed definitely didnt help matters either lol.

Have fun moving forward.. and be safe :)

They don't cancel each other out if mixed. I've mixed things plenty of times... including morphine and hydrocodone and never had an issue. They've always compliment each other nicely. Just make sure to use a conversion chart or know how much you can safely mix with your tolerance.

I have never had a problem with more than one opiate at a time. I was Prescirbed MS Contin 100mg with Roxicodone 30mg daily and never had any adverse reactions. If you have no tolerance, then you might have problems with Nausea and Sweating, Dizziness, etc. I take meds for pain so maybe that's the difference? They are being used for a purpose outside of getting high and with THC it makes the Mix intensify, I do not smoke THC but I have done what you said before and I became ILL. I think the THC was the Mistake as well as taking more opiates than your tolerance allowed.

OH NOES!!!!111!!11 you felt sick and dizzy from a lot of opiates when you had a low tolerance? holy guacamole batman, we better call the mayor about this one!!!

One probably has a higher affinity than the other; I would just be careful not to overdose, and to use minimal amounts of both for maximum synergy.
