On the edge of an overdose

Just wondering, has anyone ever walked that fine line between really high and ODing?

The last 3 nights in a row, and several scattered times over the past 2 weeks, I think I have been there. I keep passing out because I am so high, then my body is jerking me awake I think because I am not breathing. My heart is pounding when I wake up and I feel the need to breathe a LOT.

The only thing that is confusing me is the increased heart rate, because it is POUNDING when I wake back up, but it is also beating really fast the whole time I am in that really, really f-ed up state. I wonder if I am OD-ing on heroin or possibly on a cut. The weird thing is, it has been many different stamps from several different people. I am wondering if there is just something going on with me because I haven't been doing a crazy amount or anything.

Just wondering if anyone has felt anything similar? I have really held back on my usage tonight because last night was the scariest, I was almost completely paralyzed for a while....it was bad. I was really relieved to wake up okay this morning.

By the way, this is from sniffing -- not even IV.

Unfortunately noone on here is going to be able to tell you exactly what your body was experiencing. What you need to do is either adjust your dose so you aren't on the verge of passing out. Also, i'd recommend having a friend hang with you to keep an eye on you, and if things start to get hairy don't hesitate to go to the hospital or call an ambulance.

Stay safe.

I too don't IV my opiates, almost exclusively insufflate. I also experience the INTENSE feelings of needing to take big breaths. I have NO idea why this is happening but it's obviously not a good thing. Definitely lower your intake, I have as well. Hopefully in time (soon) this will go away.

If it continues, I would suggest that you (or I) go see your doctor and explain your troubles w/ breathing or heart rate. See if they notice anything strange. If you feel you must/should, disclose your drug use but perhaps there won't be a need. (obviously it's the 'best' choice, just not always the easiest)

This definitely doesnt belong in DC, but im not quite sure where it would go...BDD? TDS?

I think ill move it over to Homeless for RR to decide.

Death from opiate overdose comes from respiratory failure, the area of the brain thats responsible for you taking that next breath is put to sleep. So I would think your body is telling you something, it needs more air, you are gambling with your life. I have a friend that got out of jail and did to much, he traveled to the place you are visiting yet he didnt make it back all the way,he lay in a coma for 3 months and upon waking he was not the friend I knew,he was dave but not dave. Only the ones that knew him before his accident would be aware of this. Be careful man !

Yup. Sounds like the "edge of an overdose" as you say (or a heavy nod as others may say) and the need to take deep breaths is probably down to the respiratory depression that comes with that as Barry says. You're just taking too much and need to back off and lower your dose, in my opinion - may just be more pure than you're used to or may have active cuts making it more intense. Can be on dodgy ground indeed - the next step is a bit of a big one ;)

I almost OD'd on Hydrocodone(lol). was at school taking it for about a week straight, decided to take double the dose. Had a terrible (STOMACH/LIVER Not sure) pain went to the nurse thought I was going to die(Another fail for almost oding on a little bit of HC.)
But yeah, I think I was pretty close to Od'ing that day or OD'd.

^lol, agreed.

When I was 18 or 19 I had a friend who was older, in his 40's, and on MMT. He was dosed at 150mg, the pink dolophine liquid, and had managed to stash a few of his take homes for hard times. He gave me an entire dose, but didn't warn me this was more than enough to kill me. I had severe trouble breathing, and am lucky to be alive. Never have I come that close to death again, I guess it's taught me to be careful with my opiate doses.

When i was 17, i started doing hard drugs, and kinda pushed it right from the get go. mybig mistake was i was on zoloft and didnt think it would have any interaction with drugs. I believe it was my 3rd time taking Mdma. I started off with 3 pills. My buddy called me over and we splint about 1.5 grams of coke. Then we bought 3 more pills each.I was feelin realllly good, until bacardi superior came in the picture. i took prolly 5 or six shots, then a buddy needed a ride home. We smoked some bud on the way to his house. I dropped him off, then on my way back home, i blacked out at an intercetion. I woke up about two minutes later in a 7-11 parking lot prolly .25 miles from where i blacked out. As i woke up, my heart was pounding. I was sweating my ass off and my breathing was super fast. I ran into 7-11, grabbed two bottles of water chugged them, and then i experienced something none of my friends had ever gone through. As i looked down aisle, my vision twisted and turned, as if it were spiralling out of control. It looked like my the aisle became a time warp or something. I started asking for help cuz i was scared shitless. I heard someone say the words 911, and i snapped. I ran outside to my car and drove to my nearest friends house. I eventually calmed down after a few hours, but i never knew what caused my blackout and sprialled vision.

I would venture to guess that a combination of zoloft, 6 pills, weed, a few shots of Bacardi and splitting a gram and a half of coke may have had something to do with it. Just a guess though ;)

And for fuck's sake don't drive on a combo like that :\

Yeah, im a little older now, im not nearly as crazy/retarded as i was in high school, but i was just curious if it was just took much of everything or was it more about zoloft with other drugs

Walking the line....

I kind of scared myself the other night. I have been IV'ing OC's for about 6 months now. Been taking them for about 5 years for metal rods in my spine. You know, the gradual progression from swallowing, chewing, snorting, IV'ing. About 2 months ago I discovered IV'ing Cocaine. I will never snort another line! What a waste snorting is. I gradually worked my way from grams to balls to quarters. The other night after a 2 day binge and a quarter ounce of Cocaine later, I decided to experiment with a "little bit bigger" shot. Almost immediately my chest started to hurt, I threw up about 4 times (I think this was my body's way of trying to get rid of too much "poison". I started to sweat profusely and had to kneel on the bathroom floor. Luckily I never try shit like this when I'm home alone. I didn't alert my roommates or tell them of the experience. It made me know where the line is, that's for sure. I think I was walking it!

Anyway, the trouble breathing is from what I believe is the contents snorted is reaching your lungs

If you're snorting something and it's getting into your lungs you might want to take a look at your snorting technique cos it shouldn't be going anywhere near your lungs. The breathing difficulty has nothing to do with any powder getting into the lungs but you would certainly be a-coughin' and a-splutterin' if any did get in there :D

Hehe. I'm sure your technique is fine. Sounds good to me - smaller lines rather than stupidly big ones is definitely the way to go. Was just the part about hitting your lungs cos snorting doesn't involve lungs (or certainly shouldn't). It's absorbed through the nasal membrane so shouldn't get any further than that - achieved by not sniffing too hard so it just sits in your nose and gets absorbed rather than going down your throat or down to your lungs.

Pretty sure you'd notice if it was getting into your lungs cos you'd have regular chest infections and major coughing fits every time you snorted anything. It's not easy to do anyway unless you snort like a vacuum cleaner. Worst you'll do is sniff too hard and swallow it generally. There's actually a coupla threads on good snorting technique around if you search for them - one here in BDD and one in OD, I believe :)

Okay, I thought I had walked the line the other day, I just had the most intense rush from a shot of Coke that I have EVER had. I read in some posts that you shouldnt stand up when shooting Coke so I did my shot and layed down on the bed. I don't know if this had anything to do with it or not but OH MY GOD. This one taught me a lesson! For real....I'm gonna cut back on how much Coke I'm putting in the spoon from NOW ON! HOLY SHIT! THAT SCARED ME!

If you were capable of taking yourself to speak to a nurse I'd say you were a fair distance from OD territory ;)

I was cringing trying to speak, in a out of breath way. It was a worse pain than breaking my arm.
@The guy that I said "lol".
I wasn't laughing at the fact that I almost od'd, it was the fact that many consider HC a pussy drug.
