A narcotics bust in West Miami took a wild turn last night, with a high speed chase leading to a foot race leading to undercover cops slaying a neighborhood dog to save a suspect in an ecstasy ring.

It all started around 7 p.m., says Officer Kenia Reyes, a spokeswoman for City of Miami police.
A team of undercover police converged on a car near SW 57th Ave. and West Flagler in a sting operation against a suspected ecstasy dealer, whom police have yet to name.
The suspect stepped on the gas, tearing south down 57th Ave. The cops gave chase.
Near SW 14th St., the accused ecstacy slinger jumped out of his car and hopped a metal fence behind a red-tiled roof ranch house.
The cops heard screaming, and when they jumped the fence they found a dog chomping on the suspect's leg.
The undercover officer tried to pull the dog off, but it turned on him, too, Reyes says.
So the cop shot the dog, and then arrested the suspect.
The alleged drug dealer has been charged with possession of ecstacy, sale of ecstacy, resisting arrest without violence and burglary.
Riptide has asked for more info on the suspect. When we get it, we'll update the post.
