You're not alone McFly. I'm in that minority. He's not an actor. He only has one character and thats not acting because thats just him. He's a total fud and very un funny. I dislike him almost as much as Jim Carrey. Only difference is, jim has actually done a couple of descent movies.

Jim Carrey defo only has one character that he plays really badly in every film. I hate pretty much everything I've seen with him, the exception being Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind.

Ricky Gervais IS funny though, Extras and Office are comedy gold and some of the best British past and present. Haven't seen him in any films.

I always seem to like the things that other people tend to hate...

hahahaha watching rec on acid!
I could give you a list of things to not watch in a delicate mental state.
Whilst on the on hand it is good that pillthrill is here to kick away the scum demons, the Gervais thing is a vile fiend....not to be confused with Eddie Izzard who is ACTUALLY funny.

I have been dying from various ailments for several weeks and have lost the will to watch...or take drugs, apart from the life removing ones.

I'm thinking of watching Taxi Driver one of these days as its all about me.

"You ever see what a 45 does to.........":\

I'm in the minority i'm sure but i hate him SO SO much he's not funny at all and is the most 1 dimensional actor ever, not having a dig at you for liking him just saying i think hes fucking wank, man.

Apparently he's a cunt in real life as well, one of my mates works in a venue he did a gig at and all the staff were told beforehand that noone was to approach or speak to him, and that all communication had to go through his minders and assistants.

That looks cool and I agree, French cinema is probably the best in the world. Usually raw, gritty, real yet often glamorous at the same time. Always stylishly shot and well done too.

I didn't like Beat That My Heart Skipped much though but stuff like Mesrine, La Haine, Innocence, Cache, Angel-A are a few that spring to mind that I just loved. Love to be able to watch a really decent French flick right now.

Mesrine and Prophet are awesome, I fucking love French Cinema !!

Latin Cinema is starting to impress me a lot as well. this is a charming buddy/sports film ....

As well as Almodovar's latest, maybe not as good as Carne Trémula or Habla Con Ella, but pretty damn close, in a couple of years I would probably think it WAS better.

[rec] - Spanish horror film, I almost shit myself when I saw it maybe im just a wuss though safe to say do not watch while on acid. It's pretty good for a low budget film.

Great film, loved it. Saw the American remake recently. Whilst it's exactly the same as the original it's just not as good though I tend to hate anything Hollywood and maybe knowing it was a remake just made me despise it. Didn't have that certain something about it.

yeah I wouldn't want to see the remake personally; serious lack of creative flow with those kind of movies completely nullifying the point of filmmaking (in any artistic sense) I couldn't stop cringing when I saw the remake of Solaris with George Cloony in it.. was absolute balls.

cant believe no one mentioned "where the buffalo roam" starring Bill Murry

brillant

yeah thats a good film, I prefer it in some ways to fear and loathing, at times I found that Where the Buffalo Roam was more concerned with Gonzo journalism than Fear and Loathing which was more woo... Mescaline.. Ether.. Las Vegas.. Drugs. I cringe to think how many jackass's (hope im not offending anyone on here) have trecked to Las Vegas to try and do the same thing. I imagine sometimes that it must be hard to walk down a street in Las Vegas without seeing some stupid pair of tourists dressed as Raol and his attorney walking around acting like dick heads. Though I've never been to Las Vegas so what would I know.

there's been 2 other incarnations of this thread, both archived at 1000 posts and I believe that film has been recommended before hehe

i enjoyed where the buffalo roam loads as a hunter fan (aren't we all :\) but it really can't hold a candle to fear and loathing as a film. fear and loathing took far much more from the source material and was great whereas buffalo tended to write scenes around the wackiness of hunter's character. the dr. gonzo character in where the buffalo roam annoyed the shit out of me with his overacting as well hah.

If im not mistaken its also pretty well known that hunter had zero love for WTBR whatsoever. none the less great movie and bill murry is one of my favorite actors of all time.

Haha, it's one of my ambitions to do that, there's a certain bent appeal in the notion of running a savage burn on one Las Vegas hotel, and then just wheeling across town and checking into another.

Where the Buffalo was decent but it doesn't hold a torch to Fear & Loathing.

Is the Rum Diaries still in production? I love that book.

a must for gilliam fans, any film that starts with a drunk geordie getting carried off by a flying jellyfish is going to be good :D
