Health Benefits of Tea

LOL asecin you don't know how stupid you sound. I'm sure the United Kingdom Tea Council would like to hear your findings. Oh wait, no they wouldn't, because they're bullshit! If you weren't totally braindead you would know that there are other health benefits to tea other than anti-oxidants (which also are true and exist).

Never have I heard the media hype the health benefits of tea. Obviously you're not a tea drinker, because any lifetime tea drinker can affirm the benefits of tea by their own experience. Drinking mint tea with chamomile to fall asleep? You sir are the fail. Mint has the opposite effect of chamomile, it stimulates the mind. The health effects of various herbal teas are well noted.

stfu kultron i tried those "herbal" teas and none of em does shit to me ok ? maybe ur just too naive or easily influenced by crap. anyway dont accuse me i didnt try shit before i make comments or also doing a research.

I guess I drink a lot of tea.
I love the taste of licorice tea. Im actually glad this thread made me look up the effects of licorice. I knew it was antiviral, but it also has some health costs which are probably not worth it to my liver, since I tend to drink. Anyway its an interesting, spicy taste. It is very sweet, but the sweet is only tasted as a long lasting after taste to the spice somehow.

Green tea with jasmine and black tea are pleasant sources of caffeine, roouiobs tea feels nice in my stomach and is damn tasty. White tea is boring. Passionflower tea tastes just a tad seedy, but has a slight sedative effect that can be good for falling asleep or just relaxing. Thai krantom with the leaves strained out, plus milk and honey is a nice tea, similar to green but with a slight mood lift. Ginger tea helps stomach discomforts as well as any otc cure I have tried, although it is not particularly great tasting if brewed strong. It has a soothing effect, helpful for recovering from something like food poisoning or a stomach flue. Yerba mate is decent tasting, not my favorite taste but some really like it. Its good for getting a caffeine like boost, especially if you have already had enough coffee that weed caffeine is losing strength.

Yerba mate is good, I need to get a gourd and bombilla and introduce it to others.

I just discovered yerba mate the other day - it really is delicious beyond belief. It doesn't seem to be as healthy as standard tea though, and may actually be slightly carcinogenic apparently, although the research looks very inconclusive...

^Im courious to try that one.

So far my favs are:
Black Tea, Chamomile and of course Fix Fruita Fruit tea :)

I have been loving yerba mate recently and have more or less used it to replace coffee. Drinking mate from my gourd requires more time than tossing coffee into the coffee maker, but I find it is worth getting up earlier in the morning to complete the ceremony.

The high feels different than coffee and there seem to be less physical and mental side effects, but this could all be within my head, of course.

Rooibos Chai tea has to be my personal favorite, very tasty and smooth tea. It also always seems to put me in a wonderful mood.

I've never tried Yerba maté but based on what others have said it seems to be an interesting (tea?).

Green tea, the best quality green tea money can buy. Its loaded with antioxidants much more powerful than vitamin C. Its the healthiest source of caffeine I ever consume.

Earl Grey has oil of bergamot orange in it, not ginger, I thought...

EDIT: QUIT WITH THE NAME CALLING IN THIS FORUM!

are you brainwashed by the marketing scams that there is "antioxidants" and then vitamins and minerals ? wrong. antioxidants were originally refered to as the vitamins and minerals in foods.
anyway if u mean the alleged catechines in tea, those arent really called "antioxidants". they are just alkoloids certain plants contain and they are not proven to be 100% good for you. only in vitro they have shown some positive effects but you need so much, impossible to get em from natural source alone.

You are right.
There should not be ginger in Earl Grey.....but maybe she is drinking a special blend- Earl Grey w/ Ginger?? Though I don't think those flavors would mix well.....

A friend sent me a bunch of teas- I am hoping to try a flowering tea today- If Ido I plan to take pictures of it :D

@asecin-I still don't get your point other than being pointlessly nit picky.
Tea is healthy, assuming you don't load it with sugars and artificial flavors. Period.
Drink it!
I don't think anyone is saying that they solely live off tea, but that it is a great addition to any diet.

what do u not get man ? i made few replies about this issue and yet people do not get it. i guess ur lost cause.
and tea is not more healthy than just keeping calorie restriction (proven to be only way to live well).

I totally understand what you're saying about how antioxidants are given way too much hype in advertising.
I don't get why you constantly are trying to rebut the idea that people drink tea for health benefits. No one is saying tea is better than calorie restriction. I have no desire to waste my time reading medical studies on the issue, but I can drink tea every day and feel good about myself. Maybe if I were a nutritionist I would have to for my job, but it's just a well known fact that tea is a good drink. Healthier than lots of stuff people drink.

aaaaaaaaaaah I'm drinking REALLY REALLY STRONG ginger tea right now: 6 inches simmered for an hour in a cup of water. yummm I have a ginger high
