Bluelighter
^Hah! Well, best of luck to you. One theory about the workings of reality espoused by us psychedelic enthusiasts has to be right, right? May your megalomania be the most thoughtful and dispassionate type.
Maybe it's just my selective memory for annoying posts on bluelight by megalomaniac psychedelic users, but it does seem like there is a correlation.
One possible path to psychedelic-aided nerdgalomania: Nerds are smart. Perhaps under the influence of psychedelics their clever thoughts seem utterly ingenious. Psychedelics help both connect ideas that are associated and ideas that truly have nothing to do with each other, yet in both cases that connection comes with a feeling of intense insight. The result is that the nerdgalomaniac in the making thinks they're on the frontiers of thought when really their new found insights have all the coherence of tacky tape. They have few close real life friends to discuss their ideas and call them out on their bullshit and subconsciously they know better than to post too much about their thoughts on boards like bluelight. They're more than happy to accept the feeling of revelation without questioning it further while sober. These elements--lack of social checks, amplified but partially baseless feelings of self-love and worth, and willful self-ignorance--work together to create a positive feedback loop of ego inflation.
How long it lasts depends on the person, but it seems like the over-40 users on bluelight kept it under control or the their bubble burst long ago. I think most of the megalomaniacs are teenage boy rebels without a cause searching for something self-reinforcing to justify their isolation.

As far as LSD giving us 'a different perspective'... meh ... seems like, so far, it shows me what I already know, but more visually. If that makes sense.![]()
^^But (obligatory) honestly....
I should probably think about your question and reply when I am not in the depths of a ketamine binge.
I'll start with the simple basis, by saying psychedelics have helped me realize the paradoxical nature of reality. Simply, the answer to the strenous anxiogenic (why?) inducing question is, there is no answer! There are no absolutes, change is the only constant. And it is very relieving.
I'll try (and please remind me) to expand after some much needed ketamine-clouded sleep (it's friggin past 6 AM in central Canada right now!)
what's with acid and megalomaniacal nerds anyway?
words
I don't want to sound pretentious, but some people are simply more receptive with psychedelics than others.
Heh, don't flatter yourself?![]()
This is just blah unless you're a nice person
Are you a nice person?
But, would you know what you know now?I was 16 when I first tried shrooms and 17 just like you when I first experienced the power of LSD. Looking back on it, I would have waited knowing what I know now.
Meh, I'm kinda just blah, y'know.
I'm not trying to separate myself from other psychedelic users, and put myself atop the swirly pedestal of psychedeliadom. I figure bluelighters on PD, if anyone, would have experienced benefits and gained insights from psychedelics much like I have! I'm not claiming to have gained any revolutionary understandings that will change the face of the planet, but psychedelics have given me a perspective of reality I probably would still be trying to figure out without them and they have given me a more positive outlook on life. I'll try to compile some insights into a legible post sometime this week.
Just in case anyone assumed, I wanted to clarify through all my seeming pretentiousness %) that I didn't mean I specifically am more receptive to psychedelics than you are. You said you've just scratched the surface of psychedelics and it took me 4 years before I could really piece anything that I learned from psychedelics together. I meant some people are obviously more receptive to psychedelics in the sense that I see people goofing around not getting anything out of psychedelics all the time, meanwhile some people benefit spiritually and philosophically and seem to get a lot more out of psychedelics mentally. Goofing around is great on psyches, but regardless of people's intentions with psychedelics, I'd say those that have their mind expanded through the use of psychedelics seem to be more receptive to them. Just wanted to clarify so i don't look like a total douche.

in fact I look forward to reading your legible post.
I'm 14, and have taken shrooms twice, and acid once.
I have a pretty open mind and never once thought I'd have a bad trip, and of course, I haven't.
They only come around so often so I try to stock up when they do, though I'm 14 and can't get a proper job so I usually only have around 20$-50$ a week.
If you feel confident, try it with a sitter.
