Hi guys,

So I've been introduced to this drug, amphetamine for the first time last night and have been thinking hard about it. First impressions are good, I only took 10mg of dextroamphetamine tablets and felt quite euphoric and happy.

Fact is, I feel a lot better on these than I do sober and I really think this drug would be beneficial for me in certain situations(I'm quite shy and lack motivation) so I am considering whether I should take it more often. However I don't want to abuse the drug and definitely don't want to get addicted to it.

I have spent 5 hours last night studying and looking further into this topic and after reading people's experiences, I have come to the conclusion that amphetamines isn't quite like the marijuana or alcohol that I occasional enjoy. I'll be honest, I'm really scared and concerned that this drug might ruin my life(with the addiction and dependency), but I think I am responsible enough to not go overboard with this drug. I only plan on taking about 5-10mg of non-prescribed dextroamphetamine tablets when I think I would need them(eg. going out or studying).

I'v read a lot of topics on this forum and am amazed to find people are doing up to 10 tablets a day and are ruining their lives. Sorry if this is such a noob question but i'd rather be safe than sorry, and yea I have searched but couldn't quite get an answer to my question. I know dextroamphetamine isn't quite as strong as methamphetamine but the fact that its an amphetamine is what worries me. So do you think I should be safe to take 5-10mg of dexie tablets occasionally(say once or twice a week) without it causing any addiction or dependencies on me? You'll probably think 5-10mg isn't a hella lot but I'm very intolerant to drugs(2 cones of marijuana will get me smashed and 2 bottles of beer will make me drunk).

Thanks in advance

i used to use about once a week that same amount.. but it escalated into a very serious habit over the past 4 years and now i use daily and can't even imagine living without it ..but that's just me

even if you think you have the will power.. if you fall in love with a drug.. especially an amphetamine.. it can become a big problem very quickly

So you're saying it is addictive? That's my main concern. I just want to use it to help me feel more confident in social environments because I'm usually a reserved guy and find it hard to talk to acquaintances on a personal level. Do you recommend any other types of medicine or drugs to help with my social anxiety?

@lukw10: haha thats insane

amphetamine is definitely not a drug you want to mess around with. if you feel like you love it too much and it's too good of a feeling, i would be careful. however, it kind of has a euphoria ceiling and if you abuse it most of the good effects will go away and you will need a ton to feel anything from. i would recommend continuing to use it in moderation but if you start noticing that you're using more often than you planned or are increasing the dose a lot, i would recommend cutting down or stopping completely. and definitely don't try anything stronger like meth if you're already worried about getting addicted to just adderall.

it's definitely addictive, much more so than weed or alcohol imo. if you start using it as a tool for stuff like that, it will eventually become less effective and when you stop you'll be more anxious and generally worse off than you were originally. i wouldn't take any drugs for that unless you are prescribed them by a doctor, because using drugs as a tool for such a major problem in your life will just teach you bad habits and be like a temporary fix that will cause more problems in the long run. not to mention most anti-anxiety drugs are pretty addictive, especially psychologically.

hmmm yes that sounds like a good idea. If i start to notice that I need to take a bigger dose, I would just force myself to stop taking it instead.

Yea the "temporary fix" is the motivation for me wanting to do this. I don't plan to do this long term, I want to be able to quit when I want but obviously is harder than it sounds. I thought maybe having interactions while on dexies would teach me and give me confidence for interacting with people when I'm sober, knowing that I can do it because I have done it before, even if it is while I was "high".

^^^ that might work but once you get used to it, it might be hard to do social things without it. using recreational drugs as a tool for things you have to face in everyday life is a slippery slope, believe me i've been there many times. it's the main reason i got addicted to some drugs.

the longer you use it the more it sucks, not only that but i can change your personality for the worst.

Alcohol is so good, i wouldnt mess with anything harder. Any drug can ruin your life though, if you let it.

I have my own question about these.

I was at a club with a friend and we were starting to face an ecstasy comedown. He offered me some of these and told me that "they'd bring me back up a bit," at the time I didn't take them because I was ready to head off.

However, would this work? Or would it just be the tablets own effects that I feel?

"However I don't want to abuse the drug and definitely don't want to get addicted to it."
HAHA you sound so naive, thats what Johnny Cash, Elvis prolly said.

I know a dude who has been addicted to the things for years, started low and now is scripted 16 tabs, 80mgs daily and eats them like lollies between Meth and IV Ritalin binges, but thats a whole other story.

*sigh* NAH! an AMPHETAMINE be ADDICTIVE?! who told you that shizznit! take 20 10mg (200mg) and if you don't feel it in a few hours take 40 10mg tabs. they give them to 6 year olds you PUSSY, gonna let the e-baby take more than you? god, wuz up w/ all the pussy-ass quote unquote DRUG FIENDS in thisnew generation?! whatever happpened to eating a big handful, see what happens and later go from there? ya'll are giving the words addict, junky and tweaker a bad name. dissolve about 150mg into a 10CC rig and shoot it into your jugular. all the "cool" druggies can do ATLEAST that much. *pwned*

[for any dumbasses this is SARCASM: DO NOT SHOOT 15 DEXEDRINE INTO YOUR JUGULAR, CARDIAC ARREST OR STROKE CAN BE A COMMON SIDE EFFECT]

[APOLOGY: currently taken 150mg dextroamphetamine myself since this morning (seriously and YES, THAT IS FAR TOO MUCH AND I SHOULDN'T BE DOING THAT MUCH BUT TOLERANCE IS A BITCH. this thread just made me laugh, then sad then pissed. for some reason people who say they want to use drugs don't grassp the concept they're using DRUGS. most drugs are illegal or tightly controlled because they are dangerous and even more likely because they are ADDICTIVE(although not all example: marijuana + a few other). if you are a worried about addiction, slight-to-major risks occuring health-wise or are a vegan breathing in a bubble, DON'T DO DRUGS! DRUGS ARE BAD, MMKAY?! also, i laughed and cried when i read "if i think i'm abusing them, ii'll force myself to stop taking them." i said the same thing about trying dilaudid IV the 1st time. "hey man, my mom stole from the family, spent most my childhood in prison and 3 years ago nodded out on them driving, drove into an oak tree @ 70mph and died, NO WAY i'll abuse these" numerous injectons, absesses, misdemeanors and a few months living under the 4th ave N bridge along w/ losing my fiance of 7 years later, i realized i'd been wrong...maybe you're just like 13 or 14 and then some of that i excuse, but other than that, you're gonna have a lot of hard knocks ahead of you if you keep using anything other than weed. just being str8 w/ ya man. my life was destroyed and don't you DARE think it won't happen to you. i went to the 3rd best HS i n the nation, was honor society, membership to MENSA at 17, full scholarship to all but a handful of colleges (MIT, Cal Tech and Stanford were the exceptions), an IQ of 167 and 3 years after starting college i had burned every bridge to be had and was literally SLEEPING UNDER A FUCKING BRIDGE. esp. if you're one of us lucky bastard w/ 3 strikes (genetic predisposition from family (dad an alky/cokehead, mom an alky/junky, aunt an alky junky), previously diagnosed mental illness (bipolar, generalized and social anxiety w/ panic attacks and ADHD were mine) and physical, sexual and/or mental abuse in early childhood (physical and mental for me) if you have even ONE of those 3, STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM DRUGS! either that or use the hemingway/cobain cure and stick a 12-gauge as far down your throat as it will go and save yourself a lifetime of pain, self-hatred, guilt, shame and loneliness (plus whatever the effects are of the drugs you are using, Hepatitus C was my door prize). not trying to sound too severe and exagerrative but when it comes to addiction, i don't think you can over-exaggerate the dangers.]

Prescribed 10mgs daily of Adderall for 3+ years with no issues. Then again, I have ADD bad so it causes a calm (slows down the information) focused effect that's mildly energenic. At low doses like 10 or 15 mgs daily, I wouldn't think its an issue IF you have ADD/ADHD. I'm not sure if this is the case if you don't have it and use it even at low doses. I've read up those with ADD/ADHD are at less risk of abusing amphetamines because it doesn't create the same "high".

Hi guys, this is a pretty old thread; BDD has become more of a quick Q and A setup, for future use. :)

Closed, PM me with any queries.
