Hello from Yurp.

I have been asking around on the Euro forums but nobody seems to know. I expect that this probably varies from state to state but I am interested to know what happens to non US nationals (tourists) caught with personal quantities of drugs in America.

I had heard that deportation plus a lifetime ban were standard but I can't remember where I heard this and would like it verified either way. Does the punishment vary for different drugs?

possession of a controlled substance laws in the US are draconian so I would not be surprised if you are correct and they deport you and ban you for life. Assume the worst.

Make sure you hide it well if you plan to fly into the United States.

Unfortunately because of one person, everyone in the world is now treated suspect
 
yea i number on airports are running the full body screeners which can basically see whats in your pockets. iam not sure which ones but iam sure a quick google search can tell you and perhaps you can skip around those airports.
 
I would absolutely never dream of trying to take anything in, that would be my worst nightmare! I was thinking more of someone on vacation in the States being caught with a personal quantity (say less than a half oz) of MJ they'd purchased locally.

Sorry for my ignorance but what category of offence is it in states where MJ is not decriminalized to be in possession of under half an oz of MJ? Or is it just too variable to go into?
 
there is a map of the usa on the link i posted. click into any individual state for more information. it will show you possession amount, likely criminal charge, and the estimated $ fine or incarceration time associated with the charge.

since you're from another country, i assume your visa would be revoked and you'd be sent home rather than to jail, but if i were you i'd simply stick to the more weed-friendly states during your visit if you plan to carry drugs on you and/or smoke out in the open.
 
i can say that in my state you can have up to an ounce and just walk away with a ticket. all depends on if the c op is being a dick or not. which is not the norm for most of the south

I spent some time in MS and was surprised to see MJ is decriminalized there, mainly because that's where we found some of the scariest and most interfering cops. Thank you for taking the time to reply.
 
up at the university of MS(ole miss) they have a very large grow operation its been there for years on end to. highly restrictive place but highly quality smoke.i think its all for medicinal research, i have only heard storys and seen pics of the place

i just read this..its fucked up i could be charged with a DUID even though i was sober...illinois is one of 10 states that has a zerotolerance policy "meaning any detectable level of an illicit drug or drug metabolite present in their bodily fluids"

so being a heavy weed smoker and knowing i can test positive for weed for a month after i last smoked...i can techinically be charged with DUID even if i went say 2weeks with out smoking, just bc it is still in my system..

like for real i could get charged with a DUID while being completly sober, that is fucked up


but what i also read on that site and thought was intersting is the fact that if i grow 5plants or less its a midemeanor...more then 5 its a felony but as long as you stay under 50plants..the charge is pretty much the same ...no more then 5years in jail and 25k fine...except if its my first time with that charge im eligible for just 2years probation and after completeing the probation the charge gets dismissed...51plants and im lookin at acharge of 3-7years and 100k fine but 5-50 plants at is 1-5years and 25k in fines but the chance of probation for first time offense lol...

so if your gonna grow and you might as well go big but stay under 50 plants..
