Is the government winning it's war on drugs?

However the major blows they have caused to ecstasy, are going to impact them worse.

Precisely. I wouldn't exactly call having the market move to more dangerous drugs a success. Even if they did make a few major busts, they have simply increased the harm to users and done nothing at all to stunt the growing popularity.

I odn't know about everyone else, but I'd call that a failure ;)

Very interesting read, I just posted a whinge thread on the quality of pills in Australia at the moment, it has been terrible for years. Back in late 90's early 2000's it was near impossible to go wrong.

I too am looking for an explanation, I can't work it out!

I guess my argument is that I think people aren't enjoying pills as much as they used to cause it's not MDMA anymore. What I've seen as a result of this is more new users who try pills and don't think much of them, therefore they don't do them again and aren't as interested in trying other drugs.

When I first tried pills I was really hesitant because I believed the government's bullshit about drugs, but then I tried them, was blown away, and wanted to do more pills and try more different drugs. I don't see this as much nowadays.

So depends on what the war is for....saving lives ? preventing crime ?

Lets get this straight...

The government doesn't give a FUCK about citizens health (cheaper more dangerous substances replacing substances like MDMA). It's thanks to sites like this one that less people die and suffer not the governments stance on drugs. They obviously don't realise that education is the best means of combat.

I couldn't even imagine how much money has been spent on "winning the war on drugs".

Could you imagine a parliament member standing before parliament to state how easing of restrictions on illegal substances entering the country or illegal manufacturing or relaxing laws could benefit our citizens lives ? WON'T HAPPEN.

Trying to stop people from using illegal substances...PFFT (falls off his chair)

Preventing Crime...well don't think so either cause I can't afford to start major labs or import major quantities of substances that are illegal. Shit we still use cash which is the major cause and incentive for major money laundering and tax fraud which is closely related to drugs we could all agree....funny as ;)

Rebel, Revolt, Resist and Revenge are built in our genetics so I doubt very much any sane government will win any laughable war against substances. Oops forgot Curiosity...

Just like they are winning the war on CRIME, HA HA

Welcome to our puppet democracy.

So NO they are not winning their so called "war" they just making it worse for "us" as a society.

Or perhaps we could follow the footsteps of China, FULL CONTROL....

Great reading, thank you.

You can hardly call turning a small percent of users off the drug a success. The reality is more people are getting into "ecstasy" everyday.Even with how crap they are I see more poeple jumping on the bandwagon all the time. Just because some of the old school guys don't like the pills around at the moment doesn't mean everyone else will stop taking them.

There is some legislation (ala Internet Filter) that is the kind of crap you would expect in China, Not Australia. A bit scary to me.
