I have a ton of xanax xr at my house 1mg each. Iv taken instant release xannys plenty of time before but is there a way to get high off the xr version?

its the same thing. just might take a lil longer to kick in. i always let the xr dissolve under my tounge. seemed to hit faster.

probly like an hour at the most.. just a guess. but i cant imagine it taking any longer than that. xanax is used for panic attacks so it should kick in at least kinda quick.

Not really any more advice, but you could try drinking some beer or smoking some grass with it, because xanax alone is not that much fun (valium and klonopin are better).

xr is the chemical alprazolam (xanax) broken into layers and binded with time-release chemicals. Crushing, snorting, dissoling on your tongue will not break the extended release function. It's designed for people with specific panic attack or anxiety needs. I was prescribed a weird 3mg version (i kno its an odd number for xanax but trust me look it up they're out there). You'll see that it comes in waves.

I used to take one like an hour before class or on the way to class and then all of a sudden a bunch of xanax would hit me and I would be like whoaaa and then some time later it fades away and then some time after that it hits you again. It's very entertaining and interesting. I wouldn't reccomend mixing it with alcohol bc that just doesnt sound like a sound idea.

edit: sorry to ruin the fun but XR is pretty abuse-proof unless you're determined enough. I would imagine that dissolving it in 5mls or so of vodka or everclear would turn it into a mucky substance and then stirring it would turn it into a liquid xanax solution of whatever mg.

I was on 3mg Xanax XR and then the generic 3mg Alprazolam XR for quite a while. I found that chewing them up would most definitely yield some results in 5-10 minutes. The XR formulation might prevent all of the active ingredients from being metabolized as quickly, but chewing them will get them working faster.

the extended release is the pill itself. so parachute them or chew them if you can handle the taste.

p.s, Never snort xanax or any other benzos

My dose of xanax xr was dropped recently from 3 mg to 1mg, and I was feeling nauseous and dizzy, so figured I would take a higher dose, instead of .5, I took 2mg to see if it was slight withdrawal effect makinh me feel sick. I chewed 2, and swallowed the other 2 whole. No longer nauseous but I would def be tired or knocked out on this mg if it was the regular xanax. Chewing may have made the effects come on a little sooner, but all in all they are pretty tamper-proof.
There was a similiar thread on this topic, I believe it was about "breaking" the time release in the xr xanax. It was a split between people saying it can/cannot be done

Effects kick in within 30 minutes. Alprazolam is specifically prescribed for immediate relief of anxiety symptoms like panic attacks while Clonazepam is prescribed for panic attacks as well and basically lasts the same duration and kicks in within the same time period so I don't understand the concept of an extended release alprazolam. Marketing scheme, big $ market.

Smoke a joint 5-10 or so minutes after taking it. Benzodiazepines combined with marijuana for sure is recreational.

But of course. It's all about money.

When it started to become generally frowned upon to prescribe short-acting xanax for long periods of time in favor of anti-D's, the good folks at Pfizer went back to the drawing board and came out with an extended release version that could be sold as an alternative to the anti-D's prescribed for anxiety. Theoretically, it would have less abuse potential because when taken as directed there is no immediate "rush" of sorts. And its extended release formulation projects an intent to use it as a treatment for chronic, as opposed to acute, anxiety.

The fact remains that over time, your tolerance will increase and the drug will become less effective. The harmful side effects become more prevalent with regular increasing doses as does the addiction. Eventually the drug owns you.

Ever so true about the drug owning you. I've been stuck on a Clonazepam/Alprazolam switch off for nearly 11 years and it doesn't take very long at all until the side effects begin to outweigh its therapeutic effects. Tolerance to benzodiazepines is rapid and eventually you find yourself on a daily dose of 8mg Alprazolam basically just to avoid the withdrawals that creep up on you without taking it. The symptoms of anxiety that you suffered before starting them become much worse when your finally tapered off them and it takes years just to get back to feeling your originated anxiety.

I've attempted to taper all the way off Clonazepam and although my memory impairment and cognitive functioning started to regain, my enhanced anxiety along with other mild physical withdrawals like unsteady hands, shakes, occasional twitch, random sweating and electrical jolts in my brain, still lingered after an entire year. When going back on them its absolute bliss but after a couple months, your fVcKeD & stuck once again.

As for the "rush" of Alprazolam, I never felt it recreational, just relief. So I don't consider immediate release Alprazolam anymore recreational than Xanax XR. And as for "abuse proof", I consider abuse of benzodiazepines simply just taking higher doses, in which Xanax XR is available in a higher dose.

Ill agree with most...Im on 8 mg of cloneazepams 60 mgs of temazepams 400 to 800 mgs of seroquels and 30 mgs daily of nozinan.Even when taken rite they dont alway work ..period..The tollerance of benzos goes up very quikly i have been on these pills for at least 8 years.and i can sometimes take them all and still be awake and not fall asleep ,,yet i realy do need them all..i sometimes use to many resulting in minimal amounts neer the end of my perscription and i think the worste of all is the clonazepams...If i dont have them i start to have sever anxiety attacks and start to shake.
I cant even imagine wiening off the clones the reaction i have after only one day of not haveing them is almost unbareable..
I wish that i could live without pills period but i cant ..
My real problem though is T3s and T1s which is leagal over the counter in canada.
I go threw my T3 perscription in a matter of days then haveing to go out and buy bottles of T1s ,,spending at least 100 dollars a month on just T1s.
I have tried and tried to get off them or even just to take them as perscribed but cant no matter how i try...
I just got a bottle of 60 yesterday and half are gone already along with 50 T1s.
I totaly hate this i know im killing my liver and need to stop but if i dont get themn in me i start to have bad DTs from not haveing them, its almost unbareable..I have tried to look for forums on T3s but only found one page and that forum was closed..I wanted to comment on what i read and how rediculous it was ..it was about a girl that supposedly smoked T3s i almost laughed because i had tried the smae thing years ago and I,ll tell you not only can you not smoke them as was staided if you could the effects are non exsistent...and believe me i tried everything to smoke them..This was wayyyyy back when i was nieve and read that anything you take will effect you much more when smoked as it enters your lungs and is instantyly more effective..well after living a lifetime later i know this is not true,,say like when it comes to meth,,when ya smoke it ya its great and ya get totaly ripped ill even admit i like it but after reading what it does to your lungs i quit ded never touched it since.anyway just venting abit i guess as i am drinkin a bottle of wine and had 4 clonazepams along with 6 nozinans.plan on a good sleep tonight.PEACE everyone gotta say i love this site and plan on stickin with this one unlike others i have joined.....I guess my main point was a resounding YES you unfortunatly become very tollerant to benzoes and the like ie seroquel...

To the OP. I was prescribed three 2mlg alprazolam XR(generic) and i made a thread a little while ago about it. Seems that general consensus is that either put them in a shot of high proof alcohol for an hour to beat the matrix. One guy said crush it up to dust and its the same as taking regular. Another few people said chew em up. This is for recreational value btw. My 2Cents I got from my thread. hope it helps.
