Why Big Pharma Hates Medical Marijuana

Am I the only person who thinks the very idea of "patenting" (whatever that really means) a form of matter with a certain molecular configuration is an absurdity of grand proportion?

Novel forms of matter that could be beneficial should be a commons for all people on this planet; criminalizing any unauthorized production of a certain form of matter is a severe violation of our basic human right to use tools and manipulate matter as we desire.

People on this planet need to wake up and reclaim their rights from these tyrants. If only......:|

You are not alone good sir.

In fact, I had an idea for a open source catalog of blueprints for all manner of technology that could easily be produced in any workshop with a basic range of equipment. Anyone who wants to build anything only has to look it up on the creative commons and download the patent. Even the workshops could be community owned.

I guess Im a bit of a socialist, but I am not a Marxist or Authoritarian Communist. I believe in grassroots democracy and regional autonomy, and I definitely oppose ownership of isolated naturally occurring chemicals. You cant just extract something that claim that you own all of it everywhere.

Keep in mind, most drugs are developed by research facilities like universitys. they cant afford the many millions to approve a drug, so it get sold to a big pharma, who approves and markets the shit out of it. then they need to pull in Millions more to pay the cost of it, then double, triple or more their investment as profit.

it would be cool if their was a "for the people" pharma co who took public research approved it and sold it to the people at a fair price, that allowed further research to occur thus continuing the cycle of drug tech helping humans.

but the big pharmas and their crooked politicans will say no to the end of their golden reign.

It would be awesome if there could be a public alternative to big pharma. That would cut costs more than anything else on the table right now....I hear them talking about limiting the number of tests people get, as if that is some kind of solution. The real solution is the creation of a non profit institution to get drugs approved and marketed/sold at cost.
