Mephedrone Megathread VI: Anyone Seen My Heartvalves?

Anyone watch local BBC South Today news today? Saw a feature on mephedrone pop up today, not sure if it featured on the national news.

Basically, they are warning parents about it, and a former government drug adviser was talking about it's unknown toxology and that "ecstasy is probably safer" - which I agree (more research done on it, etc).

Good news is that it stated that toxology tests are finally being carried out!

Has anybody had any issues with receiving this through the post in the UK?

With all the talk about police 'taking people in' (i.e. taking your DNA and fingerprints - killjoys) and then releasing them upon adequate testing, has anybody had a visit because of a delivery?

you took mephedrone on the same night as taking the puma? a few people have noted that taking meph before MDMA can blunt the MDMA effects considerably, I'd say this was the problem rather than any kind of tolerance you built up using 3 times a month.

Mephedrone was mentioned in the daily mail the other day (which my mum reads, not me!), usual sensationalist crap. Can't be long until they talk about banning it, interesting thing will be if it stays around once illegal and gets all cut up like everything else.

I haven't noticed anything untowards following 1.5g's of meph on thursday night. Heart did start racing when coming up, but that's sort of expected when taking decent stims! When I was trying to kip, heart was almost normal. Actually find fleph a lot worse.

So maybe I'm in the group that doesn't suffer any effect. And I had a full ECG a few months ago.

But I do think sometimes people worry/think so much about effects that they end up perceiving they are actually having those effects when they are not. I'm no doc, but I can't see how you can just have a "louder" heart? Maybe meph actually gives you extraordinary hearing capabilities?

Sorry Kid but don't fool yourself. I never used to get any bad side effects off meph for the first few times. Now it gives me the worst comedown! I used to try and make all these arguments but trust me, it is much worse than coke or MDMA on the body!

The fact that this stuff fucks with MDMA tollerance and possible ruins coke aswell... Wish i'd never heard of it.

I think when they realise this there's going to be some very wide reaching analogue laws like the US leaving far less possibilities for legal drugs.

I don't know much about the US laws. Is meph already illegal there?

Codshit man I have respect for you knowing a bit about drugs, pills particularly, but I can't keep up with you and mephedrone. First its brilliant, then its shit, repeat ad infinitum. Bad comedowns are good though. They remind folk that getting fucked up isn't good for you!

I don't get the fixation with comedowns anyway. It's always variable and depends on all sorts of factors such as the food you've eaten, how much booze you've had, how many ciggies you've smoked, how much sleep etc

It's not scheduled itself but would come under the analogues act as an analogue of methcathinone, the wording of the act is fairly open to interpretation.

(A) Except as provided in subparagraph (C), the term controlled substance analogue means a substance -

* (i) the chemical structure of which is substantially similar to the chemical structure of a controlled substance in schedule I or II;
* (ii) which has a stimulant, depressant, or hallucinogenic effect on the central nervous system that is substantially similar to or greater than the stimulant, depressant, or hallucinogenic effect on the central nervous system of a controlled substance in schedule I or II; or
* (iii) with respect to a particular person, which such person represents or intends to have a stimulant, depressant, or hallucinogenic effect on the central nervous system that is substantially similar to or greater than the stimulant, depressant, or hallucinogenic effect on the central nervous system of a controlled substance in schedule I or II.

Ok, I'm going to shout at this. Since when did banning any substance ever make things better?

Like fucking how has it? If methylated spirits was the only 'alcohol' available legally and was being sold at tuppence a bottle would you all say (the inevitable consequences of that) would be grounds for keeping all alcohol illegal?

The problem isn't meph. The problem is people want to get high, always have. Now they can do it legally, for tuppence, but only with one drug (at that price).

The problem is prohibition. The meph experience is an argument for the legalization of drugs - to get us out of this meph we're now in.
