That's the strangest thing.

(as general 411)
The primary difference between "Phono" and "Line" is Impedance. There are a number of systemic factors that can effect your impedance, such as "Capacitive Reactance".

I guess the bottom line is machines fail, no matter what fruit is on the front of them.

I've heard a lot of good things about this night.

Kudos to those involved.

throw in a best wishes at the end of ur post and VOILA!! jimmy journey chimes in with these 'i am a transparent eyeball' analogies...'can't lose' situation imo

there were still a lot of gaps in the lineup and timeslot issues...not to mention the planning for evol intent took precedence over the flyer for december. that week we lost gearing up for last tuesday took up a good chunk of time we generally spend on design work. plus we're looking at five tuesdays in one month, two seperate flyer designs, 25% MORE DJ'S with logos/affiliations to determine and the fact that NOVEMBER isn't finished yet have all been factors. but, due to popular demand, here is december's lineup :) everybody is listed in the order they play starting from 9:30pm (unless noted otherwise), all headliners in caps and all shows are still $3 (unless noted otherwise...) with ladies in FREE until midnight...

its coming...there's a LOT more to dec than any month we've planned before...talent wise AND twice as much design work to do ;)
Yeah, but it's Not Good(tm) if there's still no flyer one week out. I play this upcoming Tuesday, but only I knew that before you just posted it. When will the flyer be ready and online? A couple days before the event?

Just sayin'! I know how tough it is to do a weekly, but I'm making a mental note that playing the first week of the month might mean no flyer to help me promote.

Okay, that's special, but you still need to have Serato in Phono mode for Tech 12s and Line mode for the turntables they were using (and CDJs, of course).

start self promoting...until we get them out that's the one thing u can help us do.

flyers?....flyers?... Flyers are almost a waste of money and paper in today's digital world. We have done some testing latley and discovered we got the same amount people to our events, even without flyers.

The Colette party, for instance, had no paper promotion at all, but still pulled 250. We had the same numbers for Andy Rourke and Space Cowboy, but did flyers for both of those.

No flyer for The Hood Internet, so we will see how that turns out.

That's an interesting take and it would be cool if someone had the time to do a study on it.

A lot of it depends on the name. ie Colette, Farina, etc will pull people regardless of printed flyers. Word of mouth/Interwebness moves faster with names like that.

On the flip side, you take the Donald Glaude event, where I didn't see a flyer until the night of the show........word of mouth only got them so far.

In a realm where people are trying to introduce events to Noobs, such as Juxtapoze and myself, paper is a necessity to reach those who our outside our respective circles.

So while it can appear arbitrary and old fashioned, I think it could hurt certain events by not getting them out on the streets.

I can see your point, however I thought they did a great job promoting the Donald Glaude event. I saw flyers all over the city. On the ground in Broad Ripple, on my car window downtown, they did major radio ads on 2 different stations. I just don't think the line up was worth $25.

That being said, you will see flyers for Farina and the DJ Dan show as well.

there is a LOT going on this month...everybody please come out and support indy's electronic music scene by attending and help us keep Juxtapoze going strong for an epic 2010!! i'd like to shout out everybody who has helped make tuesday night something really special...psynapse, swagger, arsenic, dave owen, JD, tha Doc, sea monkey, rob and the entire melody inn staff, jeremy, geek, kyle, parallel, gizzmo and every local and out of town dj that's been booked to play for such a dedicated crowd week in, week out. without these people juxtapoze is nothing more than your average run-of-the-mill weekly...thank you to all those involved :) :) :)

<3 <3

...and before i forget...HUGE shout-out goes to slater hogan and co. for cutting a massive all-vinyl house set that even had me reliving some old school glory days :) it really gets ME going to see established artists like slater digging DEEEEEEEP and cutting loose at the mel on a tuesday.

slater...you the man =D

<3

that's one of my favorite parts about the mel. I can go through the old crates and randomly grab tunes and the place eats it up. seems to be properly raising a scene again 8o
