Super cool. Why is that all these cool things happen great distances away from where I am? :(

One thing I found weird about the SF chronicle article is that it says "even after a study gets approved, finding a source for the LSD itself is very difficult" and that they are using LSD that was synthesized years ago in Switzerland. I know for a fact Sigma-Aldrich (The scientific community's kingpin chemical supplier) has LSD in their catalogue; you just need the right papers to order it.

^right.. thats clear across the country

They need to branch out to the good ol' east coast. Despite what they may of heard, we do enjoy LSD and friends too

Wasn't the Mind States convention in New York? Until this one Ive always felt like they're on the east coast. Now they're on the west coast! What about the good ol' boring and plain midwest :\

Oh well, applied for a scholarship for help to go, got some big name encouragement that should help ;)

Canada is so behind the times on academic psychedelic research or any community surrounding it. :\

You guys still have ibogain therapy....

Anyways, its the first clinical research in quite some time, but there was a bit of clinical research done way back in the day when it was not a schedule 1 drug....

More than a couple actually.... I recall experiments where they gave schizophrenics repeated high doses and many noted reduced symptoms or even an absence of symptoms after it. Various other mental problems were tested to see what LSD would do to people. There was also military testing that you could consider to be a sort of clinical setting.... The artwork study was pretty cool; a man was asked to draw the same picture at various times during his trip and most of them are very different....

Maybe they got a discount from the Swiss since it'd been sitting around so long... images of local car dealers and furniture stores come to mind...;)

Haha :)

There's a good article on erowid about scientific folks obtaining a brown glass, vacuum sealed vial of Sandoz LSD from 50 years ago. It had absolutely no degradation and was the real swiss crys :D

lol, swiss crys... good one.

If i can happen across some green paper I may try and make this event. I've been needing to take a physical trip for quite some time now. Hope to see some fellow BLer's there!

don't have enough cash to drop everything in my life to go to California at the moment....

No, that was the Horizons conference. It was a great time too.
I think i was too spun this year to take in too much information, but just being in that atmosphere and around like minded folks is always great.

And i got to spend time with some of my favorite BLers and meet some new ones.<3

This MAPS conference looks amazing though. Wish i could make it...

im going to try like hell to go...I have yet to attend any of these awesome gatherings

I wish I could just peace out for a week and go to a conference like that.

What a catch-22: I have money to do things because I have a job. I am unable to go and do things because I have to go to my job. :|

a little bit, not too bad though... I'd totally shuck out the $60 for the benefit dinner honoring the Shulgins. And its all for a good cause. MAPS does a lot of excellent work.

So anyone can go? I know basic information on certain psychedelics but nothing too intense.

I am very interested in a possible job that combines Psychedelic drugs with Psychotherapy. Currently going for education as a Psychotherapist.
