Mushroom season 2009

Yeah it's time to bust out the spore prints and get the agar cranking with some indoor cubensis

I do have one more spot left to check though and it has surprised me in the past

September 3, 2007 i found the biggest sub i have ever seen

287mm high with a 111mm cap

Half that size is considered decent in most area's but volcano's seem to produce monsters

Maybe you can help Psilo, im assuming its possible to grow shrooms indoors from fresh picked, how would one go about this? Dry the fresh, make a spore print, then a syringe?

If u are hypothetically into mycology then ask me. Im very advanced with it.

First of all you would need a fresh mushroom cap cut off and lay it on an alcohol wiped foil piece and let it sit for 24 hours to drop it spores then the easiest route would be to make a syringe. Its very hard to start a living culture with a dried mushroom. The contamination risks are very high and it wont drop its spores. Best way to do that is to work with agar in front of a flowhood and germinate the dried mushroom spore on some nutrients then secktor it untill you have strong rizmaphoric mycelium growth which is contaminant free.

^ In addition, to give a better chance in avoiding contamination:
1. Place a drinking glass over the cap (this also preserves humidity so the cap doesn't dry out).
2. Discard the first spore print and leave for another 24 hours to create a second spore print.

In all honesty, scattered_raver, there is plenty of literature online if you're interested. You'd be best to do quite a bit of reading up on the subject beforehand which i'm told is fun, rewarding, illegal and in all likelihood will make you a cleaner person.

Um good advice there except the drinking glass bit. Humidity = contaminations. Best to use a food storage box wiped out with iso propyl alcohol and lid placed on top.

^^^read back through, it says about 5 times...18 pages seems daunting, but I did it in an hour. people get sick of having to repeat shit.

can't believe I have to wait 8-9 months to go picking with my awesome hubby (mindlessbilly) for the first time in my life *cries* oh well, plenty of time for him to teach me everything, and lots of other fun things to do to til then... =]:
its gonna be epic awesome next year.

thanks in advance

Sustanon + Expothead, thanks for the replies...i might do a bit of reading..hypothetically of course.. :)

Gah...two dreams in two days...i think its time to go hunting...anyone from SEQ had a look yet? Humidity is starting to crank...might wait for one more spot of rain though..

Howdy hunters

How's Qld fairing so far? I don't think there has been much rain from looking at satellite pics over past weeks...

Got a few stray subs in Vic after late September cold snap but very few and far between

I have a healthy P. Azurescens culture going on thanks to some uncontaminated spores

I am keen to compare potency gram for gram against P. Subaeruginosa once i have harvested and dried the first few shrooms

I think i tried them in North America but can't be sure as they were dry and shredded

Not sure about QLD yet..as you said its been quite windy and dusty without rain lately...cbf going to look yet on the chance there isnt any lol..also i didnt think the night temps where warm enough..15-20 at the moment..

as far as queensland goes, no luck as of yet. i checked a few times after that rain in early sep but the ground was bone dry. though its 'raining' today the nights are STILL quite cold! but im not too concerned, as this year we took matters into our own hands... hehehe

but the first promising day i will be out hunting with bells on!

I expect we will start to see Psilocybe Cubensis being found in the north considering we're just coming into the QLD/Nth NSW season. The temperatures are warming up and it's just going to take a few seasonal storms to get the appropriate growing environment.

i've only recently gotten into this whole mushy thing. i've read a fair bit of material online and i cant wait for next years season.

However, somebody told me that since Melbourne has been getting some good rain lately, that after a nice sunny day there could be some that pop up around some areas. Is this true? I live in S.E melbourne, Berwick area.

Im not asking for locations, though does anybody think some will be growing?

anyone live in the newcastle area finding any cubes? new to the whole thing and i was just wondering if they grow this far south.
