Court told of bashing fears over fake ecstasy

The Supreme Court in Hobart has heard a man accused of assault went to a drug dealer's house to recover money after the sale of bad drugs.

Josef Murray Hutchison-Steele, his twin brother and two others, have pleaded not guilty to assault by deprivation of liberty.

They are accused of entering a house in North Hobart in July last year armed with weapons including a machete.

Hutchiston-Steele has told the Supreme Court he went to the house to make sure his brother's friend did not get bashed.

He has told the court a friend of his brother had sold fake ecstasy pills and people wanted to bash him.

He said he expected the violence and admitted holding a screw up to one man's face, saying "if you don't screw with me I won't screw with you."

He said it was intended as a joke.

He told the court he also went there to get information which he would then pass on to the drug squad, telling the jury as a child he had wanted to become a police officer.

The trial continues.

I don't condone violence but I can't say I wouldn't be glad to hear of more incidents like this. Maybe if dealers are too scared to push crap the message might make its way higher up the chain.
 
yea thats the way it should be.

what really gets me angry is ppl thinking its ok just cuz THEY got screwed on a few hundred pills or whatever that it is ok to pass them on to others.

if someone steals money out of your wallet, it doesn't make it right to steal from someone else.

just keep sending the duds and pipes and nonesense that we get heaps these days straight back to the cooks!
 
On occasion I have thought of going up to a dealer in a club who sold me rubbish and asking for my money. I don't think I'd resort to violence though.

I called dealer he said sorry everyones been sick from these blah blah ... I said well I did not eat them yet and told him to look at this site to understand what he is dealing with anyhow I asked if I could swap for better pills and He said He couldnt because thats all he could get at the time ...blah blah

some people will give refund or better pills but that's usually only dealers who can also get refunds on these bunk pills higher up the chain and that rarely happens.
Sometime an appology and a I will sell you at a cheaper price when I do get some good ones is all you can expect from most dealers ...

But selling asprin or some kind of non mdxx drug on purpose then if you get hurt then no ones concerned.

^ The one time I complained to a regualr dealer about the quality of the product he was like 'ok, so if you give me the pills I refund them'. I told them I'd eaten them and he said he'd give me the next lot of pills (which were way better) for half price. Guys like him understand the advantage of keeping your customers happy. Unfortunately, alot of dealers don't have this kind of insight.
 
I laughed at this article.

A few years back I had a dealer who unknowingly (at least according to him) sold me some PMA pills. I was pretty angry over it and confronted him the day after consuming and he did refund me a little bit and covered the rest in green. That was the only time I've been refunded for being sold shit gear.

At a recent festival I stupidly took the gamble of buying a couple round ones off someone I didn't know, turned out to be garbage of course. I ran into the guy again a couple hours later and when I told him he was selling rubbish his response was "Nah man look at your eyes your off your face! Buy a couple more and you'll be set!"

I think I know when I'm rolling. Pathetic what some of these guys will say to pass off their product.
 
Glad he went back. Only if more and more dealers took there shit back up the chain instead of getting rid of it and accepting the fact its shit. If it goes back up the chain the manufacturers will realize there not making any profit for making shit. This will keep happening until we put an end to it.

When i got pips i took mine back and i got decent ones for an exchange. He sent all the shit ones back, he even told me aah so thats why they were so cheap. Id pay alot more for quality than quantity.
 
I have a friend who got burnt on a ten bag of shitty pills. DD told him he wont give him his money back so my mate king hit him. I wish this happened to all DD's that did this kind of shit.

A JURY has started deliberating in the trial of four men accused of assault while attempting to recoup a drug debt.
p> Josef Murray Hutchison-Steele, 38, of Nicholls Rivulet, his twin brother Adam James Steele, of Verona Sands, Lawrence Peter de Villiers, 21, of Kingston, and Clovis Joel Andrew Chartrain, 30, of South Hobart, have pleaded not guilty to assault by deprivation of liberty in North Hobart in July last year.

Mr Hutchison-Steele has denied a further count of assault by gesturing with a large metal screw and Mr Chartrain has denied assault by gesturing with a machete.

The court heard the accused men were among a group of seven who went to the Federal St house on July 21 last year to arrange a refund for some fake ecstasy pills.

The court heard one of the young men who lived in the house had facilitated the sale of the sugar pills.

Mr Hutchison-Steele said he happened to be carrying a large fencing screw in his pocket, so he took it out and jokingly told one of the men who lived in the house: "If you don't screw with me I won't screw with you".

"I was trying to make a joke and lighten the situation," Mr Hutchison-Steele told the jury yesterday.

Mr Chartrain admitted taking along a machete to the house to protect his friend.

Crown prosecutor Nick Perks accused the Steeles of pretending to be bikers, but the brothers denied trying to intimidate anyone.

They said it was an amicable meeting with everyone shaking hands once an arrangement was made to provide a refund or replacement drugs.

Josef Murray Hutchison-Steele was found guilty of assault by deprivation of liberty and by making a threatening gesture with a metal screw-like object.

Clovis Joel Andrew Chartrain was found guilty of assault by deprivation of liberty but not guilty of assault by making a threatening gesture with a machete.

The Supreme Court heard they went to a house in North Hobart last year to recover a refund for fake ecstasy pills.

Another two accused men were acquitted.

Chartrain and Hutchison-Steele were released on bail to appear for sentencing tomorrow.

ur mates a fuckhed then aye. it was only a 10pack, find another dealer.

i know a few people that deal, either for the money or just to help people out, some of them, they dont even take the pills they sell, only smoke green. sometimes they have gotten the odd shit pill but most of the time they are good pills, they dont have the money to be giving everyone refunds if they dont like them cos they just small time dealers.

it wud be good if u got ur money back i dont expect a refund from an illegal source, even if he is my mate. cos when it comes down to it, your buying something that has no quality control, you win some you lose some.

if you get angry that ur dealer cant get good shit, get another dealer, and if ur angry cos the guy in the club sold u pips then well good, u shudnt buy from a club anyway, its stupid and ur beggin to get ripped off.

just trust the person u get off has a good contact, and even then he/she might fuck up but why shud u get ur money back, its not like he/she made the pills.

Totally agree with u there. Altho small time dealers should also test there pills so they dont end up selling shit. The main problem is no one wants to take the pills back from where they got em from. We have to push the shit pills back up the chain not the other way otherwise we'll always end up with shit ones.
