Robbie Williams: 'I was 24 hours from death on drugs'

Robbie Williams has claimed that he was 24 hours from death after taking a cocktail of prescription pills at the height of his drug addiction.

The 35-year-old singer said he believes that he would have died had he not gone into rehab due to the quantity of drugs he was taking.

Speaking for the first time in detail about his addiction, Williams described the days before he checked into rehab in 2007 on his 33rd birthday – a decision he claims saved his life.

The star, who first found fame in the boy band Take That, said he had reached a point with his drug taking that he did not care if he died.

Williams, who is set to release his new album, Reality Killed the Video Star, also disclosed that he was taking the painkiller Vicodin, which was found in Michael Jackson's body after his death.

Williams told The Sun: "At the time you don't give a ---- if you pop your clogs. I must have been very, very close.
"I might have been a couple of days or 24 hours from dying."
The singer told the newspaper that over the years he has also taken cocaine, LSD, amphetamines, ecstasy and heroin.

However, he said that his most recent addiction was to prescription drugs, likening his situation to deceased stars Anna Nicole Smith, Jackson, and Heath Ledger.

He added that he was taking "colossal, heart-stopping amounts" of drugs.
In a separate interview, Williams told GQ magazine: "I found myself in the same place that I've found myself in periodically since I was 17."

Asked what would have happened if he had not gone into rehab, Williams said: ''I would have died... A heart attack, I think... The left arm was going numb, chest was contracting. That's the sign, isn't it, that you're on your way out?''
He also indicated that a reunion with former band Take That would happen, although "not in the next 18 months, two years."

"There's contracts to fulfil. And then I can do what I want", he said.
He said he would rather come back, have his new album be huge, and "then go 'Can I go and play with my mates now?'"

He said he did not feel bitter or jealous at Take That's success, saying he felt angry after quitting the band "because regardless of what I felt at the end... I loved them and I didn't think I was loved back".

Speaking about the conversation he and Take That (Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange) had in 2008 in LA while Take That were mixing their album The Circus, Williams said: "We all had a massive chat, one of those chats that other bands who split up can't seem to have.

"It was really healing, if that doesn't sound too nancy. And at the end of it everything had gone and we were in the kitchen and I'd got my arm around Gary. I just loved him. I think he felt the same way. It was really beautiful.''

This is pretty much an article about nothing, 24 hours from death? Pfffft, anybody can make claims like that and while I don't doubt he was on a lot of drugs honestly how can you say that?

I have easily been 14 hours from death on numerous occasions. This guy is a lightweight.

Yeah, its just cheap publicity...
Whatever...
That being said... Robbie Williams is a guilty pleasure of mine (a really deep, dark, embaressing pleasure)
haha.

'He added that he was taking "colossal, heart-stopping amounts" of drugs...'
and he still survives.

It goes to show the quality of drugs in the UK.

He also mentioned that he was taking vicodin which isnt prescribed anywhere in the uk, or even allowed to be prescribed so I assume that he was getting most of his medications from the US :p

yeah for real ^.

Enuff said, this article is literally about nothing. All it say is that he was addicted to 'drugs' which we all know means he was addicted to opiates...

I've often been seconds from death while driving down the highway at speeds of over 65 miles per hour.
