Heroin - Experienced - Winter In Chicago

^^half the fun of being a junkie is the routine the OP described. yeah, you'll get your opiate receptors filled with methadone but you won't get the excitement, the thrill of copping, fixing your shot, the rush of shooting and the entire junkie routine. I guess going to the 'done clinic is a junkie routine but it isn't the same wild dangerous unpredictable routine. IME that part is just as addictive as the drug.

Anyway, it was a good read. All too familiar.....ahhh the ghetto in the winter
 
very nice! and i agree that i was just as addicted to the scoring as the dope! when i stopped using it was hard to figure out what to do with my time! and i still have fond memories of going to meet the dealer... sigh and it has been at least 7 years ago! sometimes i still have dreams about my dealers and their families. keep writing!
 
I dunno. I lived addicted to opiates for 5 years and I was always grateful that I never had to 'cop' or deal with such routines...I had my fix delivered to my door twice a month and this allowed me to live a 'normal' life so I could keep a job to always have money to buy more opiates. From my point of view, not having a steady source of income means frequent interruptions in supply, or worse, having to do illegal things (that could result in legal trouble, and no opiates) to have to obtain my fix. I know some folks manage to use heroin and keep a job, but probably fewer than not....no?

cold dope

I gotta say i also associate the cold ass winters here in chicago with dope. I actually live in the city so driving to the spot is only a 30min thing for me, but i have so many memories of driving there in the dead of winter that i will forever associate cold with dope. I prefer going to the spot in winter because you can bundle up and it's harder for cops to make out if your white, also easier to hide shit. My friend used to take the train down there and he would wear a ski mask and cover all of his skin then pretend to walk "black" and usually the cops wouldn't stop him. I noticed that you took the highway there. There seems to be two reas where there are a lot of spots. One is near the highway for all the suburbanites which is cool cause you can score then hit the highway in 5 minutes and once there your safe. Next there are the spots at the edge of the ghetto where the local chicagoans that don't take the highway go to shop.

Nintey, awesome writing, your words had me on the west side. I agree whole heartedly that the whole process of copping is almost addictive as using. I really loved reading that, and I guess being from Chicago too, it seemed so real. I am really glad to hear you are sober. I have been off for a month now, and sometimes I really miss the rush and satisfaction of a successful score. Going to the hood is like a gratifying game of cat and mouse to me. When I can drive in to the city, pass a dozen cops on the way to the spot, see cops at the spot, and still get out with product in hand, is/was very rewarding to my sick mind. Thanks for your writing, it rocked. Keep up the good work dude.
 
Pretty fucked up how all you guys freak out at the mention of methadone when it seems really obvious what this dude is doing to his mother and where the road this dude is on ends.

It's almost like you're all happy to see someone in worse condition than yourself and you want to keep him down because it makes you feel better about your own life? "Beautiful"

I loved reading your material man, partially cuz i an relate to it So much, and because it is So well written, i clearly had an image of everything you were saying.

Wow, you know, this is what I've been so focused on recently, too. The whole lifestyle, and when all I carried was a syringe and some water, some rubber bands to tourniquet my arm, that was all I needed. Oh, yeah, and some cash, a hundred dollars in my pocket, for the dope.
This is so accurate, it hurts.
Man, this is so accurate, you made me lose my appetite. Ha, remembering. Because it was so miserable, but, god, it was such a life. I mean, there were intense lows, and then, the intense highs after a score were so much more real than anything in my life now.
You even touch on the irritability, ha, I don't hear many people talk about that. It's the one thing I really hated about being high, I was such a bitch, ha.
Anyway, man, this was wonderful.
