Can You Get High Without Drugs?

Music + Running = buzz

(sometimes)

... and there was this one song that I could never really tell the lyrics to, but one day, when I was driving in the car singing very loudly to the music, I realized what the lyrics were saying, and I had a very chilling 'revelation' that gave me a buzz. :)

I Heard Climbing a mountain gets you buzzin like a coupla disco biscuits, Hand in hand Bunjee Jumping and Sky Diving..

But how would you naturally trip out?

Lucid Dreaming????

Listening to music.

I have had moments comparable to spiritual ecstasy when listening to certain albums. Drugs are not required. You just have to really focus on the music with all your intent.

Only the best music can get you to this place.

One of the most intense moments I have ever had was listening to A Love Supreme by John Coltrane for about the 10th time.

Everything just clicked and I was just in the perfect state of the mind to feel every single subtlety of emotion being conveyed. This album will always hold a special significance for me.

The feeling I am thinking of actually reminds me very much of the comedown from a DMT breakthrough. Absolute contentment. A feeling of total bliss. Laughing/crying at what you just felt/experienced.

Getting deeply focused and in tune with masterful art can be absolutely incredible. Forgot all your worries and just let your mind flow with the music.

Some of the best(most creative/unique) music may require multiple listens until you really get an instinctive feel for the vocabulary they are using. This varies obviously and partly depends on how old or complex the music is. The older it is the less accessible it is likely to be but all good music rewards multiple listens IMO.

deep but its true man

i can focus on my mind and it will feel like a pleasure chemical is being released into my brain, it only lasts for like 20 seconds but it feels so nice and if i do it too often then my head starts to hurt like as if im crashing lol.

Depends on your definition of "high"?
One can increase levels of endogenous simple nuerotransmitters, cannabinoids, and tryptamines by doing any number of natural things.
For example, DMT and 5-meo-DMT can show increased activity in the brain while meditating.
Sexual arousal means spikes of dopamine levels(orgasms are extremely euphoric), and as mentioned, certain excersizes increase endogenous opioid levels.

Although I don't practice meditation regularly, there have been times where I have tried it and was able to get myself into a very relaxed and almost euphoric state. I am not sure it would be called a high but it is somewhat pleasurable. Very calming.

It also seems to effect my visual processing a bit. After meditating for an extended period of time, when opening my eyes everything will appear brighter/clearer and will actually shift slightly in a way that is reminiscent of psychedelics. I have heard of people being able to coax themselves into states of full blown hallucinations/psychedelic effects.

Too bad I don't quite have the discipline/determination right now to meditate on a regular basis. I think I could probably get pretty good at it. Definitely something I plan on exploring more in the future.

No offense, but what's with all the useless posts?

Don't post things like:

"Hmmmmmmmmmm"
or
"????????"

Is this documented? I thought we had no way of measuring levels of DMT in the brain at a given time.

I don't have a source atm(I'd be glad to look later I'm just kinda tired...and stoned =D), but it's a theory I like to have.
Meditation does increase pineal activity if I recall, and some DMT in synth'ed in the pineal glad right?

I guess the bottom line is, yes. You can. In fact, most kids have done it before they reach puberty. Ever see kids stand in one spot and spin round and round until they fall down, laugh about it, get up and do it again? They're getting high.
