Mephedrone + Venlafaxine

Currently on Effexor XR 150mg/day.

I need to know would taking mephedrone lead to success or would venlafaxine just dull the effects like it does to MDMA.

Oh yeah.. If there's anything I should be aware of considering the safety aspect of this combo it would nice to know as well.

I wouldn't mix any serotonergic drug with venlafaxine, especially research chemicals with which there is no reliable information to make an informed decision. If it did work it's going to screw with your brain's neurotransmitter levels, which is never a good thing for someone diagnosed as depressed/anxious enough to require an SxRI
 
Whilst I couldn't possibly condone the combination, it has seemed to work as advertised. I have gotten tachychardia and bad stimulation above 1g though. I weigh 11 stone. Hope that helps.
 
I agree with djsim. Serotonin is something you dont want to fuck with.
 
Personal experience?

I've been on venlafaxine XR 150mg for 6 months now and polished off 1.5 grams of mephedrone for the 1st time last weekend. I had no problems, and seemed to be as munted as everybody else.

Fucked if I know how that works. MDMA competes with citalopram for the 5-HT transporter and I cant get high on MD when on cit. Would suggest that Meph mediates it effects via a different route. 5-HT receptor agonist perhaps? I haven't looked into the pharmacology of this one.
 
citalopram is an SSRI, and meph is a dopamine, norendephrian, and 5-HT releaser. Clearly they do interact to a point.

Also, I wouldnt mix MDMA with a SSRI... And what is this about trying a different route?!?

Hiya, I didn't suggest 'trying a different route'. I said 'that Meph might mediate it effects via a different route'. ie via a mechanism other than modifying the normal effect of the 5-HT transporter.

I haven't looked at the pharmacology of meph. Is it a 5-HT releasing agent? I was suggesting that it might be a 5-HT receptor agonist, given that I can still get high on it while on venlafaxine.

Given MDMA's a releaser/agonist (same thing?) of 5-HT, and as you say, totally worthless if you're taking an SSRI, I doubt it. I got a nasty noradrenergic feeling an hour or two after, but still felt completely spangled for the first 1 hr. This could just be dopamine?
 
just to revive an old thread.

I had a night out, 2 days ago and had mephedrone, mushrooms, booze and a little MDAI (which did fuck all).

I have recently been diagnosed with depression and this was like my final party before I start taking effexor. I took the last line of mephedrone at around 5am saturday and took my first tablet of effexor at 1pm sunday.

Within one and a half hours I started to feel really amped up, and I felt highly aggitated and a bit confused. my heart beat was alot stronger, though not incredibly high.

I ended up going to hospital because I thought that i might be suffering serotonin sydrome. thankly they said I was alright, and it was just a bad reaction to the combination of all these drugs operating on serotonin.

i would advise against combining the two - as the effects were quite distressing.
