In my head less and less.
I have really messed up in the past when I was in college. Goofing off a lot of classes, partying late on a school night (every night) and so on. I am going back to school now and doing much better since I have left most other drugs alone. I mostly just smoke pot now. Pot helps me forget about other drugs.

I study a lot for a math class I have. A lot of those times, I am high. I seem to be doing great as long as I leave other stuff alone. My cousin thinks pot is a very bad idea while in school and leads for poor performance and poor grades. I do not think this is true. I have literally studied for a test while I was blazed. It took some getting use to but I remembered everything the next day.

Does anyone else have a problem with smoking and studying? It hasn't given me any problems at all that I have noticed other than headache.

i know there has been some research done that showed that people who got drunk and forgot what they did are more likely to remember the next time they were drunk. so im guessing if you study high, it might work out to take the test a little buzzed too.... keep it light though.

Pot can hurt or help you in school, all depends on the subject your studying and the person smoking the pot.

Math and weed usually don't go very well together, but shit, if it works for you then more power to ya.

I actually think Math and weed are a good combo...or were, no more math for me really.

I smoked pot every day of my undergrad and so far am doing that as a graduate too. I don't go to class high (anymore) because that's just unprofessional, that's my sober time of the day. Reading dense stuff high isn't recommended or studying really, but working through problems is fantastic. I do linguistics so it's more like sound change issues and sentence trees, but sometimes just sitting there working on them for a few hours after a bong can really get you a long way. It DEFINITELY depends on the person though, I have stoner friends who never smoke before the library, and others who do.

I find that college course work, studying, papers, and such, are best done while clean. I have been able to smoke only on weekends and maintain a 4.00 GPA in the past, but only when I kept the pot smoking to a weekend/special occasion thing.

I had my fair time of tripping way too often and misplacing priorities, failing a few courses, dropping more. I don't know if it was from tripping too often or if it was a result of my then untreated bipolar disorder, or possibly a symptom of the bipolar disorder (self-medication), but I am damned lucky that I had a 4.00 GPA before I had to take a few Fs; I only dropped to a 2.9something.

Now I am back up to above a 3.00 GPA and I hardly ever take drugs apart from a beer once in a while or the odd LSD trip. Everyone is different, but in general I would not suggest mixing drugs with serious college studies. College is for getting ahead, laying the foundation to improve your overall quality of life, the work that you do in your future; it's serious stuff and I think it's best to take it seriously.

sounds like a truly uninformed individual. lazy people are lazy on weed; stupid people are still stupid. i smoke tons and i'm always in the top of the class. think for yourself. if you suck at tests/HW on weed, lay off.

Pot is a bad study tool for me, except for one time i was high as hell off some brownies. And only that one time.

Generally, pot doesn't seem to be a very "smart drug". Most potheads i know IRL are lazy, have bad short-term memory, and generally unintelligent. Or at least they seem that way.

I disagree. I smoke a lot of pot, my memory is pretty good, I do the things I have to do, and I'm a graduate student so I think I'm decently intelligent. And I'm a stoner, and a lot of other graduate students are too. I honestly don't see how someone with no intelligence at all could truly appreciate weed...I try not to get hyped up about much, but the stoner stereotype really bothers me, just because most of the time that's not the case...not for the people I spend my time with at least.

weed IMO/E doesnt necessarily have to affect ones academic life but it seems to depend on the person.

some people it helps n some people it hinders, for this reason i think both you and your cousin are both sorta correct

pot doesn't make people lazy or unintelligent. it is just the norm that lazy and unintelligent people are attracted to the relaxing effects of weed. They are usually lazy before weed ever graces them. as for studying, FUCK that. i always forget half the shit i read. ill go to class high that only involves taking notes, as that doesn't require memorization on the spot.

I guess it really all just depends on the person. I'd have to disagree with kandytime though. I may have been lazy before I smoked weed as in physically, but excelling in academics came naturally to me. I was able to maintain a 3.5 gpa or higher easily even though I was taking honors classes up until my last year in high school when my pot smoking became a daily thing.

I was still able to maintain my gpa, but it got a whole lot harder because my memory got completely shot and it was so hard to pay attention in class. On the otherhand, my friend did fairly decent in school but as she got more into weed she said it got a whole lot easier and she would study high as well and do her homework and said it actually helped her concentrate. So it all depends on the person.

Pot makes my classes more interesting, thats why i love going to class high -_- i feel like i pay more attention. I don't think I would ever bother to study high, i'd probably get bored.

It's doable, but I don't recommend making a habit of it, although it actually helps some people. Permo headies usually is fine, otherwise I'd save the weed for later....

experience: double major in Psychology and Philosophy w/ a minor in econ.... and i smoke a lot... but study during the day, smoke durin the night. atm 3.46GPA

^ Well I disagree but okay... You obviously have never smoked some incredible couch-lock weed... I body build and that shit saps all the energy out of me... and mids doesn't make me any smarter, quicker, or more bright, thats for fucking sure.

I mean, I'm in high school, make good grades, have good SAT scores, blah blah blah... it's just that when I smoke weed, I become a complete dumbass. That's just me though. I know a group of people like me, but the rest of the people who smoke weed at my school are generally lazy, ignorant, and either deal or spend all their time smoking... they fulfill the stoner stereotype perfectly.

There is no correct answer here. Some people will have beneficial effects from pot and some will have negative. The degree for either would depend on the person. The only way to answer this for yourself id to try and study high and see what happens. If pot harms your grades, dont study high. Pot will affect everyones study habits difrently there is no way you can say it will help someone or hurt another. For me personally pot helps directly as a study aid and a motivator. I can get all my work done (and same quality if i was sober) on weed and i usually will kill a few more bowls after im done al my HW as a "reward" type thing.
