The Bikie Wars

Alleged bikie list sent to rival gang
August 6, 2009 - 8:34PM

An alleged Hell's Angels bikie member charged over a fatal brawl at Sydney Airport has been accidentally handed a confidential list of rival gang members.

The Central Court registry faxed the list containing the names and addresses of 46 Comanchero bikie members to alleged Hell's Angels bikie David Padovan at Long Bail jail on July 17, the Seven Network reported.

He was supposed to have received names of members of his own gang who he is banned from seeing.

Padovan, 25, was charged in relation to the March 22 brawl, which spilled onto two levels of the Qantas domestic terminal.

Anthony Zervas, 29, died of injuries he suffered in the brawl.

"It would appear that the wrong list was given to him," Padovan's lawyer Phillip Stewart told Seven News.

Mr Stewart said the list had not been copied and he did not believe possession of it would lead to further violence.

"There is no evidence of any ongoing violence or suggestion that there would be any ongoing violence but we don't want an opportunity created where someone would have the lists of another gang where it could be suggested that something happened as a result of that," he said.

Comancheros lawyer Lesly Randle said the error was disturbing.

"It is potentially dangerous not only to my clients but to their mothers, their fathers, their brothers, their sisters," she said.

Late on Thursday night, she said she did not know where the list was.

"An undertaking was given in court that the list would be returned and not used," Randle told AAP.

"I don't know what the current status of the list is now."

More Strike Force Raptor arrests – Sydney Airport
Saturday, 15 Aug 2009 02:23pm

Officers from Strike Force Raptor have arrested two men with links to two separate Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMCG) during a proactive operation at Sydney Airport yesterday.

Acting on information that members of three rival OMCG’s were on separate flights from Adelaide to Sydney, officers from Strike Force Raptor attended the airport and conducted searches as they entered the terminal.

Officers then observed a known Northern Territory Hells Angels OMCG member leaving the airport and followed him to a business in Redfern.

While the man was at the business, three other men arrived, with police identifying one as a Sydney Hells Angel OMCG member.

Officers identified two of the men present as having outstanding interstate apprehension warrants and arrested them.

Officers took both men to Redfern Police Station where they were charged with the outstanding warrants.

The 48-year-old Northern Territory man was charged with an outstanding warrant for dangerous driving while the 43-year-old Strathfield man was charged with outstanding warrants for traffic, drug, property, fraud and fail to appear matters.

Both were refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court today.

only thing thats still easy to get is the coke ..

It would be good to see the demand for coke even higher than it is cause than maybe we will see a price drop in how much a gram would cost. Everyone loves coke but its just an expensive item and the average person just cant afford it all the time. Thats why we are stuck to buying cheap shitty pills and weed. Would love a price drop in Coke...

That would be quite nice. I doubt it will happen anytime soon.

'Bikie' weapons cache found at Archerfield
David Earley
August 27, 2009 04:00pm

POLICE raids on outlaw motorcycle gangs uncovered an arsenal of weapons, including semi-automatic AK-47s, handguns, silencers, detonators and ammunition.

The discovery of the weapons cache, allegedly belonging to the Odins Warriors organisation, comes as the State Government tightens laws to crack down on the gangs, vowing to destroy them by tearing down clubhouses and banning members from socialising if there was evidence of illegal behaviour.

...

Along with four fully automatic rifles, 18 rifles, seven semi-automatic handguns, three revolvers, two antique handguns, two pump-action shotguns and two silencers, detectives found 20 motorbikes, 20 cars and six trucks. Among them were Harley-Davidson motorcycles and vintage cars.

As well as the 36 firearms found, police also seized explosives, 22 detonators, a crossbow, thousands of rounds of ammunition and telescopic sights.

...

Similar raids on an alleged gun trafficking network in Sydney early yesterday morning netted 65 weapons, including a Heckler and Koch MP5 9mm submachine gun capable of firing 800 rounds a minute.

Bullet-proof vests and night vision telescopic sights were also found during that raid, and NSW police said ballistic experts were carrying out forensic tests to determine the history of each weapon.

The raids were the culmination of a five-month operation. Three Sydney men are facing a total of 110 firearm trafficking charges.Additional reporting AAP

If i've learned anything in year 11 economics, its that a higher demand simply means the dealers can raise prices and continue to operate as normal as opposed to dropping them.

If you have a cafe with people lining up down the street, you go; hmm. I have high demand. Your not going to drop prices - instead, you'll probably raise them slightly because you can.

Correct me if im wrong as this is of course the black market and not a coffee shop. =D

yep, anyway unless you're buying in bulk the price for a good bag will remain pretty much the same...

I think its the other way around. If there are more users then they need to buy bulker and get rid of it quicker. Same happened in Europe in 2001 when the cost of a pill halved.

But if there isnt quality around then u guys are right. They will def increase prices. I used to like the fact back home when i could get pills of literally every 3rd person i knew and they were all dif types and high quality. They were throwing them at u for ridiculious prices. What we need in AU is quality with competition so the prices can drop.

Oh how I enjoyed year 11 economics :D.

Since there is a black market for coke and it is a luxury item that has low elasticity I don't think there will be too many short term price swings.

A lot depends on supply I feel.

i don't think so, i think people who are just buying one bag will always pay pretty much the "list" price for a quality one, in australia anyway. the only discounts come when a) it's not that high quality, b) you're buying more than one or c) you have a very good connection/friend.

Yeah i see what ur saying but who buys 1 pill? Nowdays i would need 5-6 or more in a night. Not dick sizing and i dont have any tolerance as i havnt had mdma for ages. If its quality and low quantity then of course they will increase prices. If there was alot more quality around which would flood the country then thered be competition and they would have to lower prices. Look at all the big supermarkets how they are competing with eachother.

I just stumbled across the following report, I haven't had a chance to read it yet so don't know if it warrants its own thread or anything:

The report, prepared by Dr. Andreas Schloenhardt, Associate Professor at The University of Queensland TC Beirne School of Law in Brisbane, is the first in a new Study Series being run by the UNODC Regional Centre in Bangkok which aims to shed light on contemporary academic research in the fields of crime and drugs. The report discusses and critically analyses the development and implementation of anti-organized crime laws in the Asia Pacific, examines the manner in which the Convention against Transnational Organised Crime - often called the Palermo Convention - has been adopted in the region, and reviews efforts by the international community to promote its wider implementation.
