Recommend another good movie per post

Indeed hot fuzz is awful, a mate was raving about it and made me watch it, wasn't very funny at all. SOTD is classic though.

You probably have cos he's made so many, PC. For you, I'd recommend Chinatown for a Polanski introduction. Stone cold classic film that I don't think I've ever heard a bad word against. Jack Nicholson at his peak too :)

Not so convinced about the sequel The Two Jakes though. Sure he could have done better after leaving it over 15 years :\

PS: SOTD = Great, HF = OK.

as far as polanski goes, give this a deeks

edit: jinx shambles
hot fuzz was pretty decent as well i thought

Roman Polanski:Chinatown is great.
Hot Fuzz I saw last week and was I ever underwhelmed:\
Not till the last 25 minutes does it get going, when all the reviews and shit I had come across before led me to believe its like that all the way through.
Fucking liars!
I've got REC at home to watch tonight or tomorrow, although I know too much about the plot:\ But theres a sequel coming out so would like to watch the first one.And not Quarantine the remake as I can fucking read arse-reaming American film studio:X

That's actually a good film I recommened it earlier in the thread. I'd just forgotten all about it and not realised it was a Polanski.

I stand corrected, the mans not bad. ;)

[REC] is great, brilliant horror film. You got the original aye?

Agreed on [REC] - one of the best (modern) horror flix I've seen in a long time. Properly pleasingly surprised by it I was. Fuck the US remake though :|

Hot Fuzz suffered a lot cos it followed up SOTD, I think. If they'd released that one first I reckon many more folks would rate it than do. As was, I was also underwhelmed but still miles ahead of much comedy of it's ilk :)

Evad: Great minds, eh? :D

Hot Fuzz and SOTD are to me examples of perfectly watchable films but not in the slightest bit funny.

Yea well SOTD was definitely an awesome movie, i thought i remembered hot fuzz being good to. But no ones mentioned this yet and it seriously is a kick ass film.'

Hmm, Bollockdock Saints morelike!
Billy Connelly IS the picture.
Without him its 2 annoying cunts fucking about whilst Willem Defoe acts as over the top as possible without quite being Nick Cage in erm well anything, but especially Wild at Heart.
Which reminds me that Defoe is in that as well and what a show of under acting it is;)

hahahahah I want to watch it right after I cane that mephedrone thats been in water in my fridge for 8 weeks!

Billy Connolly in films always makes me cringe. :D

Can't stand Nicholas Cage like...he'll appear in anything if you pay him, no standards.

Chinatown is tops.

70's had the best movies Heres another fave for me, Altmans finest IMHO ...

Saw this yesterday, fucking hilarious ....

I avoided seeing that for weeks and weeks on end whilst it was showing at the cinemas round here, the trialer obviously didn't do it justice as it looks rubbish.

Gridlocked. Stars Tim Roth and Tupac Shakur as junkiies trying to get clean but keep meeting resistance, quite funny.

ALso starring Tupac and James Belushi is Gang Related, an awesome dirty cop film kind alike Training Day, Street Kings or Narc (also great) but made about way before any of them.
