Opioids Mega Merged: Ultimate poppy pod/seed tea thread - Part II

it will keep for a few days in a sealed container in the fridge before nasty shit starts growing but... in my experience it loses some potency. i'd advise against it unless you don't care about wasting your pods.

Doing it cup by cup is such a messy hassle. I would normally make 1-2 liter batches, which usually only lasted about 48 hours tops. I never had any trouble, so long as you keep it cold and in the dark IME it should be good for 48 hours. I guess it all depends though, it would only take one little bacteria to make you very sick.

One time I left a 16oz bottle of poppy pod tea in my book bag and forgot about it. About 2 weeks later I found it...and drank it. It was super nasty and definitely had some added funk. but it did get me high. The next day, how can I word this....my opiate constipation was instantly relieved. any way I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, I could have gotten really sick.

btw, Does anyone know the average dose/percentage that papaverine is found in P. Somniferum?

A technique question:

I'm ready to start using pod tea as an alternative source of opiates to reduce my dependence on doctors and their pharms. I've done my research and calculated suitable dosage, all I need is a hassle free way to brew up using available home equipment. I've noticed that most methods centre around a coffee maker of some kind but my espresso machine is old and simple (like me :p ) and uses alarmingly hot water which I'm fairly sure would denature an annoying quantity of the alkaloids I want. I do however possess an old cafetiere (those things like a coffee pot with a metal strainer on a plunger that pushes the grounds to the bottom after brewing) which is no longer ever used for coffee. Can I effectively brew up my PPT in that? I don't mind if a little pod straw escapes in to the tea. If I can, what is the best temperature of water to use in it?

I've found mentions of just about every other kind of coffee maker under the sun but none of cafetieres 8)

Thanks in advance, Ethnobot

i just use a large 1 liter vase type thing, mix my pod material and water for about 15 min, then pour through a pre wettened t shirt into my cup .- sweeten and bam- pod tea.

Most people here refer to those as a French Press coffee maker. They work fine. I would just let the water boil, take it off the heat for a minute, then pour it in with your grounds. Stir it up occasionally, letting it soak for about 15-20 mins, then push the plunger down and pour. You might want to drop your favorite flavor of tea in there as well and use b grade maple syrup to sweeten.

So I have 2 cups of ground up pods (30 small pods). I have a few questions;

how much water should I use per cup or half-cup of pod grinds?

can I make a batch of tea and refrigerate it for a couple days, come back and drink it later and get the full, usual effects?

I am trying to dose at about 1/2 cup of grinds (ten small pods)

its been awhile since i measured water with my pods, but i would usually use 2-3 cups. i always use 1/2 cup of grounds.

in my experience the best way is to use a lot of water the first time and then do it again using only a little water. sure, you have to drink more the first time, but it makes it taste less bitter and you are probably getting more out of the pods. i would think with less water then all the stuf from the poppies wont be able to fit in the water and more cant possibly harm you, so more is better. i think :)

i would say use 2.5 cups of water first time and then 1 cup the second time. the second one is always pretty weak but when using a half cup of grounds it comes out slightly bitter and always seemed to get me at the level i wanted to be whereas just the first wouldn't really get me there.

Depending on the person, the pods, and the tolerance, a 1/2 cup of grounds can be quite strong. With zero tolerance, that amount could make some people very sick. Be careful. Remember, these are opiates you're dealing with. You might want to start with less to be safe... if you have no tolerance, that is.

no i have a tolerance, I have a pretty steady opiate habit. I've also been drinking pod tea for quite a while, I just always eyeballed the water I was using, and I wanted to get an idea of how much water other people use per 1/2 cup of grounds.
