The Big & Dandy 'Memory and Psychedelics' Thread

are you sure it was acid,
and not like a DOx or 5-meo-amt.
its possible.

Definately lsd, consumed many many times before from the same vial, and on the night by 5 other people. I also cant imagine that the dose was just too big for his first time. It was an 8000 mic vial with 100 drops worth in it. So even if he got an unusually large drop his dose couldnt have been over 90-100mics. Hardly earth shattering stuff for most people, which is why i thought he might be hypersensitive to lsd.
Another interesting note is that the morning after he noted the walls were still breathing ever so slightly and the pattern on the carpet wasnt quite stationary in his periferal. This would've been about 18hrs after his dose.

^The only explanation lies in the fact that LSD can cause a temporoary psychosis in some people. Its very hard to guage WHAT factors cause it though. But, somehow, I suspect LSD ;)

I certainly wouldn't call it funny at all. It sounds (and is) horryfying. If you've ever actually been in that state, which unfortuantely I have, its fucking terrible.

NEVER underestimate the power of LSD; for probably 99% of people who use it, 99% of the time it will be great. However, that small percetnage that happen to lose the plot- well, it certainly makes me think about acid twice. :\

Sad sorta tale really.

CAn you stop finding one way or another to criticize everything I say? I said the read was funny, not the complete SITUATION. I feel sympathy for the poor guy, aparently that's what you want to hear? To me the read was funny because I have a visual mind, everything I read I visualize and it reminded me of some sort of retard or animal, like a cat that goes crazy when you go near it.

^Oh man, chill out. I just don't think its funny, and I doubt the OP was posting it for the lulz. Maybe instead of me not criticising what you say- you stop saying silly things? It would work. :\

I'm sorry but there is this itty bitty part of me that just doesn't "want" to believe this is LSD.
Are you telling me that absolutely every single other person was down in a Normal amount of time, yet he was still twisted for 18++ hours.

that cannot be the action of LSD, i've had a bad trip with LSD, and mostly it just includes all of the negative things you've done in your life playing in a feedback loop that then gives evil suggestion to you visual state.

Insanity and Violence, sounds more like a High Dose 5-meo-amt trip.
Whose to say that the chemical in that vial couldn't just be something mixed with water, or something else....

So many things feel like LSD but not a single thing is like LSD especially in large doses.
... i just don't see that doing it to someone...

maybe some DOx? Ive never seen anyone become violent on 'cid but it doesn't seem impossible, maybe this was just a rare case. lol make him drop again to be sure :)

lol... maybe he doesn't trust you guys or something, that was really funny reading

Dude there's absolutely nothing funny -- at all -- about a psychotic break. Its an extremely serious situation; that person was severely distressed and was a danger to himself and others. I wouldn't wish that situation upon my worst enemy.

I think what he meant to say was: suppose it never actually happened but it was like a movie... well I'm sorry but there are plenty of people who can relativate a movie and enjoy things that in real life are pretty horrible.
Having said that, I wasn't amused either and think it insensitive to read it as a story that is not real, just wanted to say there IS a distinction. This is coming from a guy who had the transient psychosis himself for a full 2 days. At the same time it deeply scares me what happened but there were some wacky things I did that in and of itself are hilarious when considered purely in itself. If I can laugh about that at times, it's OK for others to laugh. But again: the OP seems to only take it seriously so then we should too. Right?

And I certainly do believe it was probably LSD unless there were some suspect experiental differences - I LOVE acid, don't get me wrong but protecting the innocence of a beloved one mostly based on loyalty can make you ignore the fact that as good as something may be, it doesn't make it perfect.

Yea not sure how you could think that this type of thing is funny. I have been in a similar situation where a 6' 200+ pound guy lost his shit on a few hits of LSD and attempted to rape one of the girls who was with us. Thankfully there were several sober people there to help control the situation. One of the most frightening things I have seen. The behavior you described is extremely similar. I feel like a person is capable of anything in that state.

Moral of the story: be careful who you trip with.

I don't see it that hard to believe that it was LSD at all really, LSD is not some perfect God of light molecule that doesn't cause psychotic breaks, and the after effects and visual distortions Can definitely last to 18 + hours

Anyway as was said, sometimes the mind while under the influence I psychedelic drugs reaches a breaking point where it can't hold itself together anymore. I've myself gone though this and a friend of mine has as well. Since then I've tripped many a time w/ no issues at all

Not saying your friend Can handle tripping again, but this one experience does not rule out any further experiences

Oh come on guys, it's not like I was thinking "that guy is going mental, that is so fucking funny!" I was being creative in my mind like I always am and was thinking of it as some sort of dumbass that works with illogical instincts, like I said it reminds me of cat's that freak out when you go near then and attack you, then walk away calmly, then attack you. Thinking of a human using this behavior is just fucking ridiculous and makes me laugh.

Until your sprawled out on some ones front lawn drenched in sweat attacking your buddies. :)

Well I've never seen somebody go through this and I have not either, so untill then it's just ridiculous to think about, not that it doesn't suck or anything..

@ the winner: Dont sweat it, i didnt take offence to your original comment, i cannot see at all how it could be funny simply because of how traumatic the hole night was, but i have certainly had a chuckle at other peoples horrific situations. Doesnt mean i think what they went through is funny per say, i just wasnt there, and therefore have no concept of how distressing it was.

@ Psychonautical: As i said above, it was most definately LSD, apart from that fact that i myself took 2 hits from the same vial that night, our friend has been buying and distributing wholesale quantities of LSD for as along as i can remember. There is no way there was anything in that vial but LSD and H20. It's also not so uncommon to experience slight visual distortions 18hrs after ingestion.

I think some sort of LSD-induced psychosis is the most likely explanation, and while he may be perfectly fine if he dosed again in a stable set and setting i dont think anyone is willing to risk another night like that.

Shame that people have to aruge about wether or not a situation is funny. Because, honestly, anyone who has gone to that peak can understand what this kid was going through, and if you cant laugh at yourself, you probably are taking the wrong drugs.
Anyway, I would most definitley consider this a tug of war, dissociative (if that term is what we must use for now) completley. Some people just dont take to dying very well, some lay still and wait to see what happens, some lash out in the only way they think they understand. I've been there many times, though I've never actually caused any physical harm (not to people that is, I've destroyed many an artwork under the guise of self expression lol). Dude wigged, this is actually much more common than apparently whatever experience above posters are going off of. I've seen it at least once at every festival I have been to, and quite a few times in very warm and relaxed settings, though many more times with mushrooms. But thats it's own sparkling bizarre pop goes the magic garden and not exactly applicable, however many similarities there are.

My girlfriend got realistic hallucinations of people on two hits of liquid. Along with the inability to distinguish trip from reality. This is likely because she wasn't in the ideal mindset at that point of her life. She was having a great day, and her mood was fine, but the subconscious is a strong force.

She actually had a conversation with her dead friend, and thought nothing of it.
