I really really had to pee.

But, alas, I was outside, in a pretty desolate area, with only one store nearby, and the owner of that store CLAIMED that the restroom was out of order.

Now, I didn't want to pee in my pants,

And I certainly didn't want to risk getting arrested by peeing on the sidewalk.

Luckily for me, that store was a pet store.

So I bought a dog, went outside, took a piss, and blamed it on the dog.

What a relief!

Um . . . anyone wanna buy a dog?

If your in a desolate area, why not pee on a tree? lol at buying a dog in order to take a piss though...i bet the pet store would let you use the bathroom ;)

Why is this in words? I really don't see it as a poem or anything but thats just my opinion.

^ see what I mean. Its not related a all. Perhaps this is better suited for the lounge but hell thats just me.

he walks a fine line of irreverent verses actual content. Unfortunately it is not ours to decide whether or not something is poetic enough or good enough for words. It has the narrative of a story but the factual nature of a journal entry, it is the overall tone that we have to judge. He posts a lot of these and while i do not get them he follows the rules so he is alright in my book, sorry pillthrill.

My original post is not a story, it's not a poem, and it's not a journal entry, you cretins.

It's a fucking JOKE.

And to those few of you who think that your venting about how painful it is that your boyfriend likes some other girl more than he likes you is more likely to be enjoyed as art than are my JOKES, then you might want to ponder why Poetry Central, The Tonight Poetry Slam With Conan O'Brien, and Saturday Night Haikus don't exist.

And to clarify, this post is NOT meant to dismiss the value of poetry - I happen to enjoy some of it quite a bit, myself.

But to suggest that well-written original jokes are somehow not "art," and thus belong in The Lounge is fucking insulting.

i like to pee my pants (not even kidding).it feels great n gives me a buzz. i wonder if you could be arrested for public urination for that? i mean, its almost the same thing.

Sooooo.........no doggy? :(

I don't think that Conan O'Brien (or his writers) consider what they do art. The conclusion that comedy is art simply because it's popular makes no sense whatsoever.

You're not very good at dealing with bad reactions to your jokes.

Some of them are funny, but when they're not - you act like a bit of a prat.

No offense, but calling them well-written original jokes and art is a bit of a sstretch.

According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of the word "art," in this context is:

"The conscious use of skill and creative imagination, especially in the production of aesthetic objects."

Do you seriously challenge the idea that the writing of an original joke meets the criteria of this definition?

If you can't recognize that stand-up comedy is art, then, in my personal opinion, you don't deserve to enjoy it.

I find it amusing that you should say that - I've been told numerous times by numerous club owners and headlining comics, that, particularly for someone who hasn't been in the business all that long, I am in the minority of comics who has learned the "art of bombing gracefully."

But of course, you are entitled to your opinion.

Thankfully for me, the people who pay me to write them and to perform them would beg to differ.

And even if they didn't, I would still continue to consciously use my skill and creative imagination, especially in the production of aesthetic objects, because I LOVE creating art.
