I couldn't think of any realistic alien movies I really liked apart from Contact, so didn't reply at first. Considering the nominations since the first post, i'll go ahead and nominate...

...I guess it depends on what qualifies as realistic for you.

Realistic? Not one.

However, Aliens is a perennial favorite, with The Thing (1982) a close second.

I don't know that an Alien related movie could ever be considered realistic... at least not while humans are still unable to verify if there is life outside of Earth. They can however be very scary. I suppose suspension of disbelief would cure the realistic issue though, so never mind me pointing that out becomes irrelevant.

Seriously though, Aliens, and The Thing are both my childhood favorites.

Would the antagonist(s) in The Last Winter be considered alien? I'm sort of on the fence w/ that one, but if they are, The Last Winter is also on that list.

Also even though it's not serious, or scary, I just wanted to throw in Total Recall. If only to once again vocalize the sheer awesomeness that is that movie.
