First off, I want to warn everyone who is thinking about trying what I did, NOT TO.This was extremely dangerous and I was really stupid for even trying it.
This experience happend about 11pm april 14th 2009.
I have used dextroamphetamine orally for a few months for ADD over a year ago. I stopped taking it due to side effects (weight loss)
Well, I acquired one 10mg and one 20mg dexadrine pill from a friend. After doing some extensive research (which I cant mention) it took several hours of my little house hold chemistry, and I came to a final product of pure dextroamphetamine.
I bought a syringe, sterile and packaged. And using my small glass vial, mixed 10cc's of distilled water with about 1/6 of the powder. When it was fully dissolved I sucked it all up into the needle. This is only the second time I had done intervenous drugs.. (first being hydromorphone)
I used a large rubber band as a tourniquet. I finally got to a vein, said a prayer, and pushed all 10cc's in about 7 seconds. Well, I felt my heart go from about 90bpm to about 128bpm. The "rush" was strange, it was not pleasnt, yet not terrible. I felt calm, at peace, yet more alert. It was strange. It wasn't really any different from about 25mg orally.
So I made a bad decision and decided I needed more. I dissolved the rest of the powder in 15cc's and sucked up 10cc's (it was a 10cc needle) I proceeded to inject the rest. I felt a strong pulsating feeling in my body. I felt almost hyperfocused. I sucked the last 5cc's up and repeated. Except this time It felt different. My body felt really tense and I was shaking like when you are really cold. My heart was what I would guess to be about 200 beats a minute.
I lost consiousness and a friend had found me about 5-10minutes later. I was having a seizure. He called an ambulance and I remember waking up in an ambulance with the oxygen mask on. I had stopped seizing on my own. The paramedics were asking me what I took and all these questions. When I tried to speak I realized my jaw was clenched. I went into Ventricular Tachycardia and passed out again. I woke up being rushed down the hall in the ER. They had defibrilated me. The heart monitor read my heart rate as 183. The doctors slowly gave me a low dose of a beta blocker to reduce my blood pressure and heart rate. They put a catheter in me, and were pumping fluids in me. This went on for about an hour untill I started feeling better.
To wrap it up. I was in the hospital for 9 hours, had to talk to a psych. Who I admitted that It was an accidental overdose and she believed me. So I got discharged with nothing but a headache.
