I know that acting is subjective . . . but so are basketball and classical music . . .

. . . and saying that Michael Jordan isn't one of the greatest players of all time or that Beethoven isn't one of the best composers of all-time is, in my extremely strong opinion, just about as borderline absurd as not acknowledging Streep's greatness.

Her peers think she's the best, the Globes thinks she's the best, the Academy thinks she's the best - perhaps, you ought to re-watch (or, WATCH) her movies and give your opinion a second thought.
 
On topic, I think that physically, at her peak, she was REASONABLY attractive compared to the general populace, but average-looking-at-best, when compared to other celebrities.

Thankfully, though, when it comes to acting, physical attractiveness is relatively unimportant - her acting ability is simply off-the-charts.

i have to agree with both TG and MC's sentiments.

meryl was hawt in she devil, namely the scene where she was in a bathing suit within the indoor swimming pool of her mansion (not to mention her character, mary fisher's bitch fit scene when life began to fall apart and she published "love in the rinse cycle"). even when falling apart, overly demanding and mad; shes hawt. <3

If you're asking #1, I'm not gorgeous by any stretch of the imagination. He's not *very* picky. He just happens to think Meryl Streep is straight up ugly and can't imagine why other men would find her attractive. I guess he's an anomaly.

I'm guessing you meant #1. I think you're reading too far into this man. It's suppose to be a total trivial discussion. =D
 
Yeah I meant look like, not like like... and I'm not taking this conversation seriously at all. I just find it difficult to believe that any man wouldn't go to bed with Meryl Streep when she was in her prime so I assumed you were some kind of supermodel.

... Maybe he's secretly in love with her and he's trying to disguise that fact by telling you that she's butt ugly?

Can't say I'm attracted to and I find her acting to be dire. I can't stand to watch her.
 
She's hot in a Kate Mulgrew I'd-like-you-to-be-my-favorite-aunt type of way.
