Household object: Jalapeños
How to use: when i get a headache i was told to eat those jalapeños that you get a ball games for your nachos and such. I tried it a few times and it actually worked!

Oh yay!:)- I love home remedies and homemade anything!

I have never heard of jalepenos for headaches!!!
I will add a few well known ones and will add more later but-

Ginger for nausea.....
Ginger tea or ginger and pineapple juice for sore throats........
Aloe Vera for cuts ,scrapes and sunburns...
Calendula Oil for scars........

Like I need another excuse to eat jalapenos! I've never heard of that but I will for sure try it out!

My dad would always give me lime water (juice from a few limes, a little honey or sugar and luke warm water to the brim) for stomach aches.

Bitters (used in some cocktails, get it at the liquor store) with a sqeeze of citrus-lemon or lime-and soda water is also excellent for stomach aches

*edit* Where do I find Calendula Oil and would it work for stretch marks?? I need a home remedy (BESIDES Vitamin E and coco butter) for stretch marks!

Yeah- I wouldn't see why Calendula oil wouldn't work for stretch marks.....
I love it- Its good for everything- Especially dry skin-scars-sunburns......

Have you tried a coffee grind scrub for your stretch marks? I make a sugar scrub with coffee grinds in it- It is a great exfoliant and is supposed to reduce cellulite- so I would think it would work for stretch marks too.....

I would do a coffee sugar scrub with calendula oil and jojoba or almond oil- then when you get out rub the calendula oil on your stretch marks......Let me know if you try it......

Okay- I googled to make sure- Calendula oil is good for stretch marks and for after the baby it is good for cracked nipples.....It is also good for babies diaper rashes and for their skin.....
and coffee grinds are good for stretch marks :) Its in the caffeine so don't use decaf:)

Edit- Do you have co-ops in your area?? You can find it there or at a natural foods store or health store....I like Uncle Harry's- I think they have a website.

My dad swears by 2 tablespoons of vinegar for hiccups. It works like a charm but I'm not sure if there's some science behind it or if the taste is just a diversion :)

Man I love jalapenos. I eat those fuckers whole! :D
Apple cider vinegar for minor burns and sunburn is just amazing...

Also, we always have cayenne pepper at home. I cannot live without it. I'm a spice fiend =D
I also heard that a teaspoon of cayenne pepper in a glass of warm water will help to revive a person who has had cardiac arrest...(you can google that piece of information too, I dont have personal experience to back it up thank god, but its always at the back of my mind in case I find my loved ones/friends in that situation..)

This is a great website.

N3o-OMG- I have been hiccuping for like 4 hours- what do I do- drink it????hahah I guess so- what kind? white vinegar? I don't know if I can handle it but I would try just about anything right now.........do you think it would make me throw up?

The only thing that ever cures my hiccups is drinking a huge coleman of water :( That or getting a good scare from somebody (rare....its hard to surprise me!)...I've yet to try the vinegar thing for hiccups though...Im so used to drinking apple cider vinegar everyday! :D

Ooh sorry I didn't see this sooner!! I HATE hiccups so I know how you're suffering :(
Yes, drink it. White vinegar is the most effective in my opinion.
I hope it works for you!!

When my vocal chords get sore from singing I squeeze half a lemon in to a mug, add 2 tablespoons of honey and top it up with hot water. Mmmm so soothing.
Try that :)

Anyone have any tips for a sore throat? Mine is killing me. :(

licorice root tea is great for sore throats. yogi tea makes an "egyptian licorice tea", and natural botanicals(? but i've seen them everywhere) makes one called "throat coat"

if you can get licorice root, i like to mix 3/4 to 1 inch of root, shredded, with 2 peppercorns, crushed, 1 coriander, crushed, green or white tea, and honey.

also, to the thread.... garlic. the veritable panacea of food

Very true! Or I gargle with apple cider vinegar. Or put a huge handful of seasalt in a mug of warm water and gargle. Sea salt is the best.

I had hiccups for a little under 48 hours once. Sharing a 30 pack of shitty beer with one other person will do that...Milwaukee's Best, fyi.

I tried EVERYTHING, but the only thing that fixed them was eating peanut butter by the spoon. mmmm

if your feet are sore, you can use any object with a 90degree angle to massage them up and down. like the edge of a bed frame, seat of a chair, etc. feels good. i also love taking a bic lighter and rubbing the smooth edge up and down on the back of my neck where it connects to me head.

For skin that is breaking out- use cotton pillowcases and change them every night, or use it once and flip it over but dont use it any more than that. It works like a charm in a matter of days, and it doesnt cost you a thing (unless of course you dont already own cotton pillowcases)

tobacco or cayenne pepper for bleeding cuts. put either of them on an open cut, and it will staunch bleeding. prepare yourself for this one, though. they both burn like hell. works like a charm, though. go from cut finger to back in the kitchen inside of 15 minutes.

Whenever I had an ear ache my mom would always put olive oil on a spoon and heat it up over the stove, just until it was warm/hot. Then dip your finger in the oil and put it right in the little indent behind your ear. I don't know why this helps but it does! Takes the pain right away. %)
