According to wikipedia US M&Ms (since 1941) are a rip off of the original smarties by nestle (since 1882), while US smarties are a rip off of Fizzers. 8)

the candy they use has different names all over the world. Mostly caused by the confusion of:

Smarties everywhere in the world except america are basically m&m's. Smarties in the states are those lil disgusting tasting candy things that are powdery.

I would rather top off my line with a bump of asbestos.

Is it just me or are they not even inhaling the dust?
Looks like they're simply getting the dust in their mouths and blowing out.

When I first saw the title of this thread I thought kids were crushing candy up and smoking it in a crack pipe. I was worried - that shit, if possible, would mess your lungs up among other things.
After reading, I'm still worried... more about the intellectual state of todays kids though.
Seriously, what the fuck?

We used to do that with these candy cigarettes they sold. When we were 7 or 8, this was in the 70s… they sold candy cigarettes in packs. They had every brand mom and dad were smoking, slightly altered to be mildly amusing and to avoid lawsuits. The cigarette candy sucked, but they came in cool packs and were DRENCHED in very fine powdered sugar, and wrapped in wax paper, so you could mouth inhale the powdered sugar and exhale "smoke."

No one bought them for the candy. It sucked. We usually threw it out. Everyone got pissed off because that there wasn't enough powdered sugar in each smoke. The only reason anyone bought them was to "smoke" the powdered sugar. We all chucked the stick of candy after the "smoke" was gone. So I guess these kids are showing initiative.
