depression, a normal part of mild opiate withdrawal?

Feeling down the next day is par for the course and why people continuing to use and then everyday as not to get that down feeling. Been there and trying to avoid it.
Agree with 15.16 & 17

When i used oxycontin. Sometimes i would feel depressed the next day but not that often. I have HIGH anxiety, mild depression, and mild back pain already. I do know that anxiety attacks can trigger the more severe withdrawel. The one where you get the terrible pain all throughout your back and you can barely move your arms without it feeling funny. That one has happened to me twice.

for me the depression while in wd from with real opiates is actually not that strong. I mainly just feel bored. But with tramadol withdrawals, OMG. it feels like my soul has been sucked out and I become almost suicidal, very nasty.

dr drew said that when one is withdrawing from opiates, the brain literally feels like it is committing suicide, thus that impending doom feeling..

yep, the worst part is if you are taking opiates right now to deal with your depression, just wait until you get clan, the depression will still be there in spades my friend..

^ya that is definitely what it feels like.

opiate withdrawal depression is HORRIBLE imo. i can't stand that depression. prolly why i'm on suboxone now instead of just getting completely clean from heroin.

so i did some more poppy pod tea, and i don't really get that much noticeable depression any more. i think i just had to get used to it or something.

^ What do you mean? You don't get depression from the comedown/withdrawal of pod tea? How often do you use, or what opiate were you using and for how long? If you're on an opiate now (pod tea), you shouldn't have to worry about depression (you probably know this). Whatever withdrawal you were going through can easily be taken away temporarily by pod tea.. Morphine and codeine tend to help with opiate withdrawal, but they only prolong it in the end.
If you're not using daily for months on end, then you probably aren't going to experience very serious mental withdrawal. I had to use hydrocodone or oxycodone daily for almost a year before experiencing what I'd consider true withdrawal (both physical and mental). Before that I could use for 30-60 days and just experience a mild opiate comedown. I think a lot of people mistake this for withdrawal, it kind of is, but it's nothing compared to how bad it can be if you use daily for a long time.

Talkin' 'bout depression and Tramadol's efficacy at fighting that feeling and taking for granted that it's due to Tramadol's SSRI/SNRI properties..I wonder..Is there an actual SSRI/SNRI ..or maybe even a combo of them..that can resemble the amazing way Tramadol works to get rid of depression?

^ FYI SNRI = Serotonin + norepinephrine re-uptake inhibitor. I believe most if not all SNRIs are also SSRIs.

I agree that tramadol is an alright anti-depressant but mainly because it's both a mu opioid receptor agonist as well as an SNRI. This combo seems to be good at fighting depression. Effexor has similar properties, but it's a much stronger SNRI. Cymbalta is another drug that comes to mind.

Smiliar properties...you mean similar to Tramadol's? And yes you're right EVERY SNRI is also an SSRI! ..BUT..they DO call them differently according to their specific re-uptake inhibition relative potency..so when a molecule has stronger SNRI properties and weaker SSRI properties it'll be called an SNRI and vice versa.

^ Yeah, effexor and cymbalta have similar SNRI properties compared to tramadol, but effexor and cymbalta are much stronger SNRIs. Tramadol is supposed to be a mild SNRI. In my experience this holds true.

^Aw well thanks bud, that's exactly what i was wondering about:)
So would you think that takin ..say..a quarter-maybe less- the regular dose of those med's could carry out more or less the same properties as Tramadol's or it's just not the case?

I hear that when it comes to SSRI's you've got to wait at least a couple of weeks before u can get a noticeable mood lift..now..saying that Venlafaxine has similar properties to Tramadol's do you mean it provides a mood lift right after it kicks in just like Tramadol does or just that it has a similar pharmacokinetics?

i'm not withdrawing from anything but the first few times i did ppt i felt kind of depressed for a day or two after, but just pretty mildly. now when i do it, i don't really notice much difference the next day mood wise, except being lazier maybe. i also felt kind of down the day after using oxy the few times i've tried it so i thought maybe that always happens with opiates, kind of like how it happens with stimulants, but i think it was just because i wasn't used to it or something, since now i don't really notice it anymore, at least with ppt.

After the physical withdrawls are over (about 5 days), I usually stay moderately depressed for about 3 weeks. And restless, like wandering around my house at night wondering what I'm supposed to be doing.

Very normal and expected.

When youre opiated~ problems go away, you're physically and mentally in a very relaxed, carefree world.

When you leave that place, you realize "hey. shit, my problems do matter" - Its like...when you take the gas mask off at the dentist office...or....when you come down from an amphetamine binge... You just naturally go below baseline, aka, depression (well, you dont get depressed at the dentist's but you know what i mean.)

Stay strong, it will go away.

I binged on oxy for 2 1/2 days eating around 160mg total and being high constantly 2 days ago that binge ended...this is only the 2nd time iv ever binged on oxy but im getting cold sweats and leg pains a little (nothing serious) but i too experience that depression and god damn does it fucking suck. its been two days i know its nothing serious the mental part is over i think i still get cold sweats here and there...its kinda scary that only two and a half days of binging will do that to me...When it happens tho like i dont crave oxy like ill by 8-10 at a time eat them all really quick but not crave them again for another 3 months.
